  1. You are concerned that nobody on a fans' forum appears to have an idea what the cost of opening the NS is to the Club?
  2. Part of the problem is the size of the stands that we have. The JH is, sadly, too big for our support. Since it opened I can only recall it being full of Thistle fans once. The Ayr United relegation game. Even the Morton game a few years ago there were Morton fans at the far end of the stand though had the NS not being a Thistle stand then the JH capacity would obviously have been tested that night. I can't think of a solution that doesn't piss off some section of our support. It was horrible to see the JH stand full of Celtic fans yesterday that bothered me personally more than seeing the NS Stand full of Celtic fans. That's because I have an emotional attachment to the JH stand which I don't have with the NS. I've never watched a game from there. Others will have the totally opposite view from me which is what makes it a virtually impossible problem to find a solution to short of finding the 6,000+ Jags fans you would need to fill the JH and NS on a regular basis. The situation doesn't need so much of a rethink as a rebuild of the stadium. :-)
  3. Dougie Bell was sent off against Morton at Cappielow on the opening day of the 1991-1992 season. We were actually a goal, down in that game before the season was officially underway. The game kicked off before 3pm and we lost the opening goal in a 2-1 defeat inside the first minute. All ended well though as we won promotion at the season's end.m
  4. I've just one pair of legs. Do I need more than one pair of trousers?
  5. Just the two of us and still hoping I might win the Facebook competition for tickets!
  6. We're going to pop along to this. Looking forward to it. A little more than the football to be honest. :-)
  7. For a variety of reasons this project never quite got off the ground but it hasn't been forgotten about. I've still a notion to produce a magazine but in the meantime I've created a Partick Thistle Historian blog where I will post articles. The first one, part one of a few at least, has been posted. You can check it out via the link before: http://partickthistlehistorian.blogspot.co.uk/ Thanks for your time.
  8. Last home game of the 88/89 season. Really hot day with everyone scattered around the ground as opposed to standing in the shade under The Shed. Thistle won 4-1.
  9. Would prefer 3/4 games against anyone rather than 3/4 against Sevco or Celtic for that matter. Could quite happily live my life without ever having to play either them. Sadly it tends to come with football in the top flight.
  10. Davie Walker against Falkirk ( is the Falkirk player Peter Houston?) with maybe Paul Donnelly on the deck.
  11. It's Brian Martin rather than Archie is it not? Des McKeown and Gavin Duncan in the background.
  12. I think it might be 85/86 in which case the keeper that we can't see might have been Nelson Still. It is John Murray on the post but I don't think the No.5 is McAdam although he did come back in the mid 80s. Struggling with the player on the line. Brian McQuade perhaps?
  13. Close run thing between O'Donnell and Osman for me. Honourable mentions for Bannigan and Lawless. All in I don't think there has been too many first team players that haven't made a positive contribution this season.
  14. To be fair to Teale he is making his comments almost immediately after the game perhaps without the benefit of seeing the incident again on TV. I thought it was a penalty at the time but the contact clearly comes outside the box and I actually think it is a tough call as to whether it is even a foul. The momentum of the contact takes Naismith into the box. It's these kind of incidents that underline how difficult decisions can be for match officials. A couple of says down the line with the benefit surrounding the decision, ale it not no about whether it was a penalty or not, yet the referee has to make his call instantaneously.
  15. Where would you take him to? Somewhere far, far away so as to remove even the slightest possibility that we sign him? :-)
  16. Judging by the condition of the pitch and the player involved (I think CJ is right, it's Alan McConville who didn't play first team football) I think it must be an end of season reserve game.
  17. Score first we will be fine. Concede first and we start to pay a passing interest in events at Fir Park. Any scenario that sees us safe by 4:45 is fine by me.
  18. Remember the day so well. The most nervous I've been before a football match by some comfortable margin. Never a penalty and not even shown in the highlights shown on STV on the Sunday. The fact that our kick off was delayed helped. Hamilton had only won 2-0 and all we had to do was play out the last 8 minutes or so to go up. Hundreds of Thistle fans lining the side of the pitch banging the advertising hoardings in anticipation of the full time whistle is an image that will stay with me forever. I can remember later that night while walking between Maryhill pubs, stopping off to buy a cheap warm bottle of champagne that tasted wonderful, hearing the sounds of celebrating Thistle fans from behind ever pub door. It was a wonderful sound. Great memories. Time to make some more great memories today hopefully.
  19. Tried to get Laura Kuensberg to write an article for the Thistle programme a few years back but she didn't feel she had enough Jags knowledge to do so. That didn't stop me for 22 years!
  20. The Scotzine editor is hard work as the last 20 minutes of my life on twitter is proof of. :-)
  21. Chris Stephens who is standing in Glasgow South West for the SNP is also a Thistle fan. Could there be more Jags in Westminster than Scottish Labour MPs on May 8th? :-)
  22. If, like me, you have nothing much to do tonight you could always have a wee read at my response to the blog. And some other stuff about The Beatles etc. :-) http://randommusings-thomas.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/blog-off.html
  23. Pretty popular but it comes with an overwhelming Celtic bias. The guy also has some spectacular, and highly entertaining, meltdowns with the gentlemen of the Scottish football press. Keith Jackson and Chris Jack have been recent targets. Wonder if Scotzine would be interested in a more balanced account of the current state of Partick Thistle?
  24. The guy that is planning to write the book about season 2012-2013 is also called Scott. Hopefully not the same bloke.
