  1. Its dead easy to guage opinion, stand on for election on which ticket you want to be par tof, no doubt some people would stand agaisnt you on the other, winner takes all and the direction of the JT is set (for the period of the service!) Too many candidates want to be everythign to everyone, if some went out and stated what they want to do and why it might be more of a competitive debate/election
  2. The way i look at it the trust has 2 distinct paths that it can take to move forward 1- Become a fundraising arm for the club were they provide money for various items/sponsorship etc 2- Becomes a vehicle for the fans to try and gain (more) control of the club and raise money for that. Its a simple choice imo Personally i lean towards 2 as i think the BOD have no regard for the JT/Fans in general and see us a cash cow to plug gaps in the budget
  3. A decent move from the club, we let 3 players go Maxi, Sid, Hinchy that we have resigned, say they were on average £400pw each, so £1200 pw total, we resigned them 8 weeks later on, saving of £9600. Wht pay guys to caoch/play when ther eis no one to coach or games to play? This will become standard practice at most lower levels clubs, 10 month deal July to April, with options to resign, or 2 year deals with reduced summer wages. Yes we run the risk of some of the guys signing back on but lets be honest there is a glut of employable players out there , that a lot of players will be happy to accept the terms. The saving made of £9600 equates to about 32 full price adult supporters at every home match this season
  4. Until a realistic concrete alternative to the current BOD is indentified, to allow supporters to either back it or condem it, then we are always goign to trot out the old there is no white knight/how do you know there isnt arguement, it does the arguement around the BOD no favours and doesnt move the arguement on anything. If the .net poster would be able to identity the said businessman , i would be inclined to belive it , but yet again it is an unsubstantiated rumour around investment in the club. If the BOD are lying re investors how havent these investors come out in public and said we were knocked backed, this is what i plan to do etc, or gone around the BOD to the Bank cause ultimately they will make the decison on what happends at Firhill
  5. There lies the problem, fans dont give players time they make their minds up the dont like players and thats that, happens every year at thistle one or two guys are hung out as scapegoats when some other diddy can do no wrong. Anyway we cant afford to let him go (Boyle) till archie is back playing as we have no left sided cover then, unless you fancy maxwell out there!!!
  6. For the doom merchants its a pre season game FFS McGeough is not helped by playing Cairney/Trialist out right as they both want to be in the middle of the park, we need a right sided midfielder. Boyle not good enough but all we have till archies is fit or we bring in a left back. Halliwell will sign and hinchy abviously had weight watchers the day and needed to lose a few pounds to get his target weight. Lets be honest with ourselves at best we may challenge at worst we will be 8th
  7. Lets be honest he is struggling to get a gig elsewhere The Spl Rangers - only if they shift mcgregor/alexander Celtic- No chance ICT- Esson and the new signing Aberdeen- Langfield no money to spend Dundee UtD- Pernis dude Hibs- 3 keepers Killie- No cash Hearts- Hes no lithuanian and they have about 5 keepers Hmailton, Cerny guy unless he is sold St Johnstone/St Mirren/motherwell - all possibility but who would pay a transfer fee?
  8. Its not down just the manager to motivate a player, the player has to want to do it himself. Corcoran to me showed no desire to improve/get fit/stay in the team and tbh im glad he is away, Erskien will get a run at the left mid/winger slot over a number of game which will either prove or disporve whether he has it. Another example of why in this economic climate we dont offer 2 years deals to players, watch this space from now on plaers will be offered 9 months contract july to april, saves on the wages!!
  9. Keep shagging and don ttell the bosses and claim all the expenses you can! If found out cliam its your second home or 2nd burd and thus not liable to expenses rules and that they forced you to live with them away from home so its all their fault anyway
  10. early away day at one and the othe the end of november (in time for the xmas run up) means a return in jan/feb and at the end of the season, 4 nice trips evenly spread for us all. No doubt will be midweeks everytime in the middle of winter!!
  11. Lets face it Tuffey is a solid decent keeper, he is never going to the OF as a starter , he will go as a reserve. For development and his International prospects he would be better goign down south to a top league 1 or lower championship team, but for us he is better to go to an SPL club as we will get some cash for training him
  12. Its a balancing act , do you go for the cheaper unproven option (juniors) or the more expensive slightly proven (youth reject) or the very expensive proven option (over 30 seasoned pro). If we sign too many older guys on higher wages the squad numbers will be less so with signing juniors on less money it may lead to more bodies in the squad thus more options available. Its all a big gamble in the end we have seen seasoned pros, youth rejects and juniors at firhill down the years all with varying levels of success, sometimes your lucky sometimes your not thats life
  13. Everybody take a step back and look at it from the outside We have released 4 players in their mid to late 30s, 2 who combined some sort of coaching role as well. The club will not go forward when we are playing guys in mid 30s and some who hardly played at all last season. This is not a sign of impending doom, but more of sign of realism and a pragmatic approach to running a club. By all means if they wish to come back when pre season starts and we havent found alternatives or we require coaches then that fine but at the moment why pay 4 guys wages for doing hee haw over the next 2 months. Would you pay a plumber for 2 months while you were awaiting the job to start- i dont think so so why pay people we dont need too
  14. Dont waste your petrol money he can try and jump the train at partick like everyone else!!
  15. Agree with all of the releases Hinchy/Halliwell i wouldnt be surprised to see both of them back when pre season starts. If were paying say £300 a week each between now and begining of July we save around £4800 by freeing them, when they wouldnt even be training with as their on holiday. Also Halliwell may well got to Iceland for a few months and get some games under his belt, Hinchy will go tto iceland as well but purely for the half price chocolate cakes and a chanc eof riding that Kerry Katona!! Donnelly and Maxi, both past their best Maxi especially inthe 2nd half of the season looked bust, Sid while having his best season ever for thistle is 35, we need to have younger guys that give us a future. However i would be surprised as with hinchy above 1 of them is back for pre-season in a ast manager/coach/player role. Corrigan if he had stayed fit he would have stayed gives you that option of being passable in most positions. Boyle and Corcoran cheerio dont let the door hit your arses on the way put, part time beckons and then the juniors and then oblivion and drinking super up the park with your mates regaling them with tales of how you nearly made it
  16. Craig Barr always liked him, big cb as well
  17. On the park we must as a minimum get top 4, even if reconsuction doesnt go ahead, it guarantees us a bye in the scottish cup and seeds us for 1 round of the league cup. Ideally a will push hard for the league but that willd epend on who comes down, best case scenario is Killie as they will be most effected by relegation. Off the park, we have to look at financial stability and plug the gaps in the budget- how we do this i dont know
  18. Ok the season is over and its time for the annual cull of the deadwood, so his everyones "favourites" for the chop and does anyone think there will be anyone unexpectadly freed? I go for : Corocoran, Corrigan, Maxwell, and 2 youngsters weve never heard of Out of the box thinker says Robertson
