  1. I understand this, however I don't remember any banners at a football ground which showed such a total lack of respect to those who died fighting for our country. Which political cause is this football club exactly supporting, especially with Dr John Reid on the board? This isn't to do with politics, its an example of the one of the OF taking this nonsense to far.
  2. Banner at Parkhead today I understand that many people on this forum couldn't care less about the OF and the actions of their supporters. However, this picture sums up to me the nonsense that surrounds a certain element of football supporters in Glasgow.
  3. I totally agree with you regarding the way Dundee have been run during the last decade i.e. Di Stefano, Melville. However, I feel that if Dundee were to become a properly run football club again i.e. living within their financial means, with the size of their support they would be an asset to Scottish football. In addition, their demise would result in the loss of one of the very few traditional derbies we have in Scotland that isn't tainted with paranoia and bigotry.
  4. Dundee are fortunate they remain in the first division and with an outside chance of survival. The arrogance of some of their fans and the board last season has resulted in few people having much sympathy for their plight. I remember Dundee fans singing 'Dundee FC Champions' during the 2-0 defeat at Firhill last December and their board enquiring about signing Scott Robertson from Dundee Utd. The latter I believe was the board simply flaunting their apparatent wealth rather than looking to strenghten their squad. However, I hope they remain in business as Scottish football is already on the slide without clubs of Dundees stature dissapearing.
  5. As I said the incident with your grandchild leaving upset is not a nice situation, especially because you told the individuals to tone it down. I don't shout and swear at the the football myself. However, in my opinion the atmosphere at Scottish footbal grounds isn't family orientated, it may try and be but it isn't. I am currently living in England and have attended a few games. The first thing I have noticed is the difference in atmosphere compared to Firhill and away grounds, that is the foul language is more frequent and intense at our games. I don't want to sound harsh but if I had ten year old daughter and didn't want to her exposed to bad language I wouldn't take her to a football match. Not saying it is right but it is the reality of the situation. In addition, no need to feel sorry for me just my opinion.
  6. Obviously not nice to hear of your daughter leaving the game upset. However, regarding your fathers comments, I'm guessing the song you are referring to is the FTP and FTQ. IMO opinion this song is a statement of how religion has no place in Scottish football, such as that we will see tomorrow when the OF play. It is not a sectarian song. No offence but it does sound like you are easily offended with that comment i.e as an athiest. In addition, that is a nice image of Partick Thistle you have created however, I wonder how many games you have attended in recent years. The language at Firhill is industrial at the best of times never mind when the time is performing badly (i.e. end of Dick Campbell era).
  7. IIRC we were in the semi-final of the challenge cup two seasons ago. We beaten at Firhill 1-0 by Airdrie.
  8. I didn't think the start to this season could get any worse.
  9. Difficult to comprehend how the same team from last week, who played with commitment and desire to win, could produce such a lacklustre performance. Not many clear cut chances for either side throughout the match. Mortons first goal was a mix up in defence with one of our players (Ballotoni?) chesting the ball back to Halliwell only for Kean to nick in and score. Second goal from a free kick and a result of our wall not doing its job. Difficult to see if the ball had crossed the line from the WDE, however the reaction from Halliwell indicates that it probably wasn't. From that performance both sides will finish in the bottom half of the table. Although I noticed that Morton made more of an effort to keep the ball on the ground and pass around our players, rather than the route one approach they previously adopted. Never seen such a one footed player as Paton. In addition, another chance missed by Buchanan and he has lost his scoring insticnt. Hard to believe we were resigned to losing him to an SPL side a few years ago.
  10. Please tell me that Campbell Mckenzie is a spoof Thistle fan
  11. I will be working in the School of Biosciences, I am doing a PhD in Neuroscience. I will be based on the Sutton Bonnington Campus and from your location status I'm guessing that is likewise for yourself. What are you studying? What did you find as the best option regarding accomodation (e.g. city centre, Loughborough, campus accomodation)? Also what local teams have a good matchday experience (e.g Notts Forest, County, Derby etc)?
  12. I'm soon to be a Nomad. I've lived in Glagow all my life but am moving to Nottingham in October to study for a PhD at the University of Nottingham. Looking forward to it but will miss going to Firhill on a regular basis. Was a strange feeling after the QoS game knowing that this is probably my last season properly following Thistle for at least 3 years.
  13. After the Co-op final vs Rangers Gilmour and Andy Millen were seen having a blazing row on the pitch. Doubt this would be the sole contributing factor, however it shows the possible friction between some members of the board and management team
  14. Worst fans in the country, I don't think so. Every teams supporters can go overboard regarding critisiscm of their own players. Look at Mark Burchill when he was at Dunfermline, he even gestured to his own fans after he scored against us last season due to the abuse he recieved. Diffucult to label one support as the worst. However, I think the critiscism of Gus McMcpherson and John Hughes by a section of the St Mirren and Falkirk (last season), respectively, support was poor. Look at the reaction of our fans at Dens earlier in the season. We were defeated 2-0 but could identify the effort from our players and applauded them off the park.
