  1. Again I'm split on this as basically an SPL2 doesn't offer up larger leagues. The plus side would be play offs between the two divisions and hopefully a more equitable spread of what little money there is. Politically, and it sticks in my gullet saying so, most Div 1 clubs have more in common with the SPL than they have with most clubs in SFL Div 2 & Div 3. At present clubs like ours (Pars, Morton, Falkirk, Dundee) are dictated to within the SFL by the majority part time clubs who appear to be satisfied with their lot and probably relish the idea of our size of club being sucked down to their level. I realise it's not as simple as full time clubs versus part time clubs so I'm just generalising but I'd reluctantly have to agree that an SPL2 would be an improvement on what we have. I've always hoped that the threat of an SPL2 would be enough to jump start the SFL into league reconstruction but I'm fast giving up on that.
  2. Sorry 'bout the selective quoting but there's one or two things I'm unsure of. Firstly for consistency sake I queried the 25 point reduction that the SFL handed out to Dundee. The reason being that despite obvious forewarning the SFL clowns never had a set punishment in place. The 25 points reduction was purely arbitrary. I believe there should be a set points deduction for any team entering administration and further deductions reflecting both the time in administration and the level of the CVA payout. The second points reduction should be implemented the following season. If you think about it that would greatly reduce the possibility of a club working the system. As regards rangers I'm no apologist for them and want to see them punished greatly but once again there's no rules in place and nothing in scale to reflect the seriousness of their misdemeanours. So why send them to the third division?. Obviously the answer is as that's the maximum that the SFL can punish them and more to the point that's been the traditional point of entry for a new club. All very well, but aren't the vast majority of us fans not sick of three divisions of ten and the mind numbing repetition that that brings? I don't see why rangers can't be expelled from the current SPL without the SFL having to continue in its present destructive format just so that shower get punished with a three year minimum.absence from the top division. Put another way I don't believe that any full time club should have to start out in leagues largely comprising of clubs with no ambition who by majority voting appear happy with the SFL status quo. If by only dropping rangers down one division it brings about positive change in the league set ups then I'm all for it and besides there's other ways the SFA can impose penalties on them.
  3. Bit of a blank with me but I can mind a pre season tournament at Ibrox about that time. So I'll say Jags, rangers and two from Down South. Guessing Arsenal and Newcastle and rangers won the competition?
  4. What connects a current player signed from the Juniors, most probably our worst ever manager, a recent ex Jags player with US uni/college soccer experience and a Badger?
  5. John Divers Joe McBride Stephanne Bonnes? Ha!
  6. ...and doing it again. All the names of their current season ticket holders are on this club's top http://forums.scotti...33543493059.jpg
  7. Thanks for that, Lindau. Anyone else feel a pinned thread dedicated purely to Jags press cuttings/match reports would be warranted?
  8. To expand on my point about SFL chairmen relishing two home games against rangers it has to be pointed out that average attendances in Div 2 & Div 3 will only average at a guess 500-750. Pick any non city club and I'll imagine there's about the same number of so called rangers fans are resident in that town. For instance before they did their deal with JJB Sports (?) there was a rangers shop in Elgin. So even if their fans don't travel in numbers any club throughout the country is still bound to have relatively very healthy gates twice a season. That'll be enough to ensure the tedious SFL leagues of ten remain for a minimum of another three seasons despite fan preference for larger leagues. In other words wishing to see rangers punished by being out of the top division for a minimum of three seasons is dependent on the status quo of the three boring leagues of ten remaining in place for the next 3 or 4 years. It's easy for fans of SPL clubs to just say "banish rangers to the 3rd division" but in truth it's not necessarily a bonus for us fans of SFL clubs.
  9. While of the belief that rangers should be penalised heavily and the consensus opinion of them starting off in Div 3 is probably the most appropriate punishment that has its drawbacks. On the plus side virtually all the SFL clubs will benefit financially thru gate receipts. On the negative side, always assuming rangers are at least of Gretna squad strength, it'll screw up the leagues with only play off places to go for in two leagues and not even that in our division. That won't be rangers fault just an unfortunate by product of the punishment. Maybe more of a personal beef but I don't believe many (most?) of the SFL contingent deserve to benefit from increased attendances. The majority of SFL clubs in Div 2 & Div 3 are apparently satisfied with the current SFL closed shop set up and quite content to see clubs like ours and most other Div 1 clubs suffer the consequences. Any remote chance of SFL league reconstruction will be out the window while each of the SFL chairmen drool at the financial prospects of two home games against rangers or whatever they'll be called. Whilst it'll be SPL fan pressure over chairmen that may ultimately force rangers out that league it'll be SFL chairmen winning the day over fan's wishes in our leagues for the next three seasons at least.
  10. I'm all for this. Just need to see what's happened to Tuffey to realise you need your second goalie (if he's envisaged as a future first team keeper) getting as much game time as possible. Don't think Jackie would bring in a back up for Fox as we've got Wightman should Foxy need to be subbed or is sent off. Might be wrong but I think you can recall a keeper in an emergency should Fox get injured. Either way there's be no shortage of clubs willing to farm out a keeper in an emergency loan.
  11. Might be wrong but I think the third Andy Gibson was called Donnie McKinnon.
  12. Split gate, £10/£5 entry. Take off policing/stewarding costs etc.etc. Would've made very little.
  13. The whole point tho' is the home team pay the costs. We'll get some thing like 40% of the net profit (if any). I don't know whether Clyde are renting by the game or over a fixed period. If it's the latter then there's no point in shifting the venue. Purely on finance I guess PTFC will be relatively happy with this. An away trip to Berwick, Stranraer etc would've been costly and I suspect most home ties would've been loss making as well.
  14. Who.. Dennis Bergkamp?....From.... Inter Milan? and When....he sobered up?
  15. Well Done! kni, you were getting close and I couldn't really answer you without virtually giving the answer on top of the clue. Doolan 2010 & Rowson 2011 both scored in injury time/90th minute but on both occasions there was a very brief restart. Ritchie's penalty up in Peterhead was the very last kick of that season. Over to you, KK
  16. Hey, Paul Ritchie couldn't play a part in both halves of a game never mind a whole season. Clue:. The merry month of May
  17. Nope. Well not that I know. Clue coming up soon, tho' I'm surprised no one's got it yet.
  18. Would I be correct in saying part of Green's business plan is/was to pay out £91K max (it would've been a lot less) to Vienna Rapide on the £1.1m owed for Jelavic but put the entire £5.5m due from Everton for the same player into their kitty?
  19. Nope. Question is totally related to playing for Thistle.
  20. You might as well ask what's the point in the whole competition. On the subject of region crossing, unfortunately for Brechin they were drawn at home to Dundee and not the other way round. I imagine they'll miss out on a nice big payday at the home of the Cessnock Cesspits when they kick of their new season..
