  1. Beside the worlds gratest video collection?
  2. Exactly my point. You can have a group of folk ready to make for change, spurred on by a lack of something. But it is the lack of those who follow behind with similar fervour, that is the problem within our support. We are a great support, who can fix a broken wheel. Give us a bike that cycles straight, and we'll drive it into the kerb!
  3. And a great plan of what the Board at that time had dreamed up to save the Club. Stadium redevelopment is such old hat at Firhill. I remember telling my Granda about Jim Oliver's plans. His reply, get used to it, we come out with a new plan for the stadium every couple of years. He never lived to see the last 2 we've had.
  4. My goodness, it seems like only 2007 when a post along these lines was put up on dotnet... Many of you will be aware of the issues raised by many posters (and members) on here regarding The Jags Trust set up and aims. You’ll also know that there has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes to sort that out and create a Jags Trust that is more representative of its members and the fans and to turn it into an organisation that can make a real difference to the club both now and in the future. With the announcement made this week by the club it is now essential that these moves are now made very quickly in order that a more effective and supportive Jags Trust can be created in a much shorter period of time than initially anticipated. The method of moving things forward quickly is to call for an Extraordinary General Meeting. In order to successfully call for the EGM, we need to secure the support of Trust members. Unfortunately, due to the failure to maintain a proper membership list, it's difficult to say what the precise number is however the more signatures we have the stronger the message we can convey to the Trust office bearers and ensure an EGM happens very soon. Those of us signing this message have decided to call for an Extraordinary General Meeting at the earliest opportunity and are urging all other members to do the same for the benefit of the Club. The purposes of the EGM sound a bit dry at this stage but they are critical if The Jags Trust is to become an organisation which can make a real difference to the Club both now and in the future. Once these are sorted out there are real benefits to all and all members can have a say in how things move forward. The purposes of the EGM will be as follows: · To call for the current office holders to step down and offer themselves up for re-election. · To decide the future make up of the Trust committee so it fully reflects the interests of all sections of the Thistle support. · To approve the election rules provided by Supporters Direct which are required by the Trust's constitution. Amazingly, The Jags Trust isn’t a member of the national Supporters Direct organisation! · To set the date for a full and proper election to take place. · To convene a steering committee from the membership to maintain the Trust until the election can be held, at which time that committee shall disband. · To begin the process of appointing an election committee to oversee the conduct of the election under the chairmanship of an independent outside party. We hope that everyone will view this as an opportunity to strengthen The Trust by joining up to it, participating in the discussions and the elections, and by offering to serve on the committees, stand as candidates at the elections or get actively involved in a group that will have been major, positive impact on the club. We view this move as necessary to allow The Trust to open up and play the important role required of it as a fundraiser, a community presence and a channel of communication at this time of difficulty for the club and anxiety for all the supporters. Once an election is underway, however, the future direction of The Trust is entirely within the control of the members. Any Trust members willing to back this move can indicate their support by emailing their details to ********** as soon as possible. We hope this can be done quickly so we can all get on with the important job of helping the club get back on its feet. Your Club Needs You! ‘Mon The Jags After that, the likes of Willie Arthur, Robert Knox etc stepped aside and a new fresh faced Trust Board took shape. 3 years and 2(?)elections later and The Trust is on it's knee's, again with the North West Supporters Bus being cited as the main reason via rumour and speculation. Previously due to their ignorance and ignoring of the rules, this time due to a small group who believe sexism rules at Firhill and who put blocks in the way of progress for the betterment of The Club and The Trust. So where to now? Well, first up is a call for a whole new gang under and different guise with different objectives. Fact is, you have to have people willing to step up, willing to carry a weight, and after a year or two when that weight is too heavy to carry or it's time to pass the baton, you need fresh faces to take up where the others left off. And thats where the problem starts, we have a core support of 2500 with maybe 400 max Trust members (lets not count the lapsed members, they are just folk who chose not to renew). Look at 3 years ago when the fresh new Trust had 800 members from a similar sized support. Do we have fans willing to get up off there erse, away from the keyboard, or seat in the JHS? And if we do, are they willing to devote time on match days "working", in recent times, that seems to be a problem. Yes there is a dookit where the Trust base themselves, that is not enough! It's very easy to sit in Maryhill Halls having a blether once a month, but you have to actually do something, something the fans see, and the fans will only see that on a matchday. And if they do, then they will recognise the name, and want to be part of it.
  5. spot on. PGS... lets not forget, he's playing behind 3 defenders, who only 5 months ago, the majority of thistle fans deemed absolute garbage. you don't become a great defender over night. maybe the rest of the team are that sh!t that they make paton/kinniburgh/boyle look good. if you were given the keepers jersey 5 months ago, how would you have felt playing behind them? as for catching crosses. do you know mccalls tactics. what does he tell bryn to do... stay on his line... come for everything... you don't know. say for example mccall tells halliwell to stay on his line and shot stop, don't come for a cross... and halliwell watches every cross be won by an attacker... would you not eventually think... get out the way. we've seem him drop two crosses, that have led two goals. do you know he claimed them and the players got out the way, or did they ignore his shout and get in his way. all i'm saying, is... it's easy to judge an outfield player, but to judge a goalie is far more difficult. watch nelson in the dundee rout. he misses a huge cross... 10 years down the line, does it matter? no... because he was playing behind good defenders. halliwell is playing behind some idiots... cut him some slack. he's busier than your average keeper! as for the dunfy game. watch their keeper flap at cross after puch after cross.... they all do it!
  6. are you being serious? blaming halliwell for the dunfy goal? as for queens first, you're quite hard to please!
  7. look through the pain of the viseo highlights. i've still got faith in halliwell. he has sold 1 game (saturday) he lost the ball in the alba cup... aye the same alba cup that meant nothing, til we were a sniff from the final. all of a sudden he was a scape goat! watch some of the saves he produces. show me a shot stopper, who catches crosses and keeps a kick on the green stuff, n i'll show you a keeper who's playing above thistle's level!
  8. So you pretty much agree, word for word with Chic Young?
  9. whether or not that's the case, opinions will differ. And Tongue in cheek... Or not. Do you think it's acceptable for such a comment to be made on the official club site?
  10. couldn't agree more. Shocking that no one proof read that. Or if they did, felt it acceptable to publish. I really hope that sort of crap is not regularly published in his programme articles.
  11. cowan was never "in charge" before, he was just the "public face", all decisions were made as a group with him or hughes as the spokesperson. so really, there is no need for us to have a chairman.
  12. FOR PURCHASE? Whilst a great nod to the fans, under the new leadership... is that allowed? Thankfully the Club Board resignations were held back. Otherwise the club may have been trying to punt tickets to some gig on the southside of Glasgow. * * It should be noted, whilst the City Council offered the club free tickets, no mater who was in charge, the offer was turned down.
  13. sweep sweep, sweepity sweep sweep. Have you heard of the word "accountable"? Why not grow a pair? Demand answers? Or are you just happy to let the ball roll? You do know your trust has let you down? Deserted you? Jumped on the club band wagon?... And now that all seems shit!!! Read the trust boards posts 6 months ago... read them now. Why not ask them, why from telling it's members the only way forward was to trust the club board. We now have trust board members saying that was a crock of sht, and propco is the devils work!
  14. No ta. I'll leave those idiots who don't understand the game, guessing. Its fckin basics tho! I mean. it's basic stuff!!!
  15. proof read! You admit it's not a good thing to see them play, but you want them to play? I don't get it!
  16. yip, the same half the trust wrote an open letter to the council approving they tear it down!
  17. what a load of sh!t. why not ask folk, before you generalise.
  18. You realise that is a lie? They invested in a deal. If it doesn't work out, we owe them nothing. BUT... they own half our ground.
  19. And you don't get how the quote thing works! My post wasn't directed at you... hence why i quoted someone... who wasn't you!
  20. are you boys being serious? hand ball? his arm is on the shoulder of the jags player and he's facing the other way! high foot? he goes in with the ball at thigh height and his studs are directed at the ground! sad really that you can't notice the god awfull first touch from flannigan(?). i mean really, terrible first touch. but hey. yeah, it was a hand ball and a high foot!
