  1. For me it is a no brainer all you have to do is ask yourself this 20 mins to go 1 down and needing someone to turn the game lets look at the subs bench.... Elliot, Craigen, Muirhead or ........McFadden now really ask yourself hand on heart who do you have the most confidence in to turn the game
  2. It has probably taken me to this time to actually calm down as every time I think about Friday it gets me down. Defensively we are so poor and the problem with that is that most people have been saying the same thing since we got promoted. Many games last season were either lost or drawn due to poor decisions or lapses in concentration which at this level are always punished i.e. Balatoni Friday night for the first goal. Both Balatoni and Muirhead do not work if we do play them together then we need either a sweeper or a defensive midfield player who plays in front and that is not happening. Thats one of the main problems I have with Archie he knew we needed not just one but 2 defenders who could play from the off. Seabourne when he plays is without doubt a solid defender however 2 ganes out so far does not bode well for the rest of the season. We needed another of similar type who does exactly what it says on the tin i.e. defend. There must have been players out there, defenders in the Championship would do a better job than the 2 that we had playing on Friday night. Balatoni is a bombscare waiting to happen in every game and really needs dropped he has cost us a few goals and that is just this season but then again you could do the same with Muirhead. what is the alternative there is no real competition at the heart of the defence if Seabourne is not playing then it really is only either Balatoni or Muirhead and as has been said previously does not inspire confidence through the team. I totally agree with the comments about Fox punches when he should catch, poor decision making when coming off his line and when to stay, for me Gallacher has to start if only for his organising skills for the back 4. Middle to front we are just as good if not better as the rest of the teams around us however again consistency in some of our key players lets us down. Higgy is either Messi or messy, Lawless is playing well however when the cold weather and rain appears he will get muscled out of the midfield, Brannigan for me is the one who needs to develop the most consistency as he could be one of the best midfielders to pull on a Thistle jersey(less yelow cards would be nice) Stevenson not got a clue what to make of it obviously the manager has a role for him but I wish either he would tell him or better still Stevenson understand it. Doolan took his goal well but what sums him up is the second chance i.e. clean through snatches and fails to hit the target second goal and the game is dead in fact I honestly think if that had went in we would have gone on to score 3 or 4. Thats the nutshell consistency beat St Mirren and we are 10 points ahead with 2 harder games than us coming up in the league. We have not won 2 league games in a row since coming back up to the Premier and I think for this season that has to be rectified sooner rather than later for us because if we can then we can look down and consolidate quite nicely however keep stumbling like we are then St Mirren and Ross County will always be around us. The manager has to take it on the chin for how we are at this stage of the season however thats what you get the big bucks for so hopefully the mistakes are cut out but seeing as we seem to making the same ones over and over again it may be dificult for him with the current squad as his optopns for change are severly limited. However the lack of options in the squad is no defence for the manager as this present squad and recruitment is all of his own making.
  3. Worse things happen what according to you feigning injury is worse than biting someone. Justifiable payback is biting someone you are unbelievable as previously stated please engage brain and really think about your statements.
  4. Bilko you are deluded......he has bitten someone 3 times in a game of football nobody at any point threatened to kill him, at no time was he fighting for his life he was just playing football. The English press can't take the blame for this one even if he scored 2 goals against their or maybe your real national team. Why not try and have a look at the Italian press better still engage brain then speak you might just make some sense.
  5. Seriously so uninspired by this signing as he was so lightweight last season and easily muscled off the ball. Probably think that there will be much better out there for the same money come May 31st. However hopefully he will show a lot more and prove me wrong.
  6. Is it not that your are just too old and you have bad eyesight and you have grey hair and you look as though you should be an extra in Still Game and you think a Toffee Apple counts as an Apple Device
  7. Whilst I agree the facilities in the main stand should/must be upgraded I dont think for someone such as myself thats the issue. I enjoy the North Stand and have done so over the last 2 years I dont want to move to the Main Stand as I enjoy the Match day experience where I am. I have been in the Main stand twice this season and it is not a patch on the North stand. I am sure those who are so vociferous about their thoughts on staying in the Noth Stand are more than intelligent enough to put their points across without resorting to the verge of being militant. However lets not cloud the issue there has been no justifiable reason for moving the fans apart from the hassle of administration but I have no doubt since the timing of the last statement and the timing of the meeting the board will have come up with a variety of reasons that have been factored in after the event. In an earlier post the word compromise was used and directed at peoples inability to compromise if they go with a rigid agenda but correct me if I am wrong but the first agenda was started by the board and their actions when announcing or really the underhand way they dealt with it. I am all for compromise when compromise is needed however there was no reason financially for the board to come to this decision. Can we not agree that the facilities in the Main Stand should have been brought up to scratch at the start of this season and not used as an enticement again as part of an agenda by the board. Why dont we call it as it is...... an utter shambles at a time when the office phone/email system should be red hot with people looking for season tickets not complaints. If someone wants to go to the meeting and insist that we must saty in the Noth Stand then you have my vote... Compromise ???whats next pander to the old firm........ oh thats right we have already done that
  8. Whilst I am happy that the club have obviously issued a statement talking about consultation it in no way states at any time that they were wrong in making the decision and that the original decision is going to be changed. Whilst glad that there is some movement I will not get all excited until the decision is reversed. I am not and have never been a member of the supporters federation and I am probably not in the minority when it comes to Jags supporters so I am not going to slag them off but they dont really speak for me and Im not trying to be negative its just that this topic to me is not open for debate i.e. North Stand Thistle supporters end off. If you compromise too many times then you end up with nothing. There are too many examples of the supporters being shafted we truly are second class citizens when it comes to this club at times. One of the things that really annoyed me about the weekend was the end of the game more stewards around the park than Ross County supporters nobody getting on the park. What happens 2 young supporters try to get on one is captured by an over zealous steward manhandled to the ground and knee on the chest........ 2 mins later everyone is on the park. They knew there would be people on the park why not let it happen in a controlled way i.e. through communication. We as supporters get nothing for buying a season ticket we as supporters get treated like absolute crap at times by this board and the reason I say board and not club is because thats why we keep coming back as We are the club and as such until this decision is reversed I will not be buying a season ticket and will not take compromise until such times as we are all back in the North Stand
  9. Sent my email to the club saying I will not be renewing. Really spoiled a great day for me on Saturday in respect of the whole attitude of the Board to the fans. Really stupid decision and cant agree more about a demonstration to show the depth of feeling amongst the support. If we stick together we can change this however it will be the legacy of the original decision by the board that will no doubt have a lasting effect on the support and any good will.
  10. To be honest if and I do say if Thistle did win a trophy I dont think that there would be a problem with Police Scotland allowing an open top bus as all applications for parades and processions are decided on their own merit in relation to Public Safety and the potential for disorder. This is why in reference to the previous is the reason the old firm are not allowed but do celebrate with their own fans in their own ground. Partick Thistle football club driving an open top bus the length of the Maryhill Rd would not be a threat to Public safety or disorder as everyone knows that Oh" Maryhill is wonderful "
  11. To be fair the article in the Evening Times on either Wednesday or Tuesday night is at times more scathing as he also has a go at the manager as well quote " Kenny was doing cartwheels when we signed O'Connor he said he would get us goals well he did one" I think that there might be trouble at mill down Greenock way with Rae and the manager. The other thing about the article in the Evening Times was him still bleating on about the Easdales and how they would be better putting money into Morton rather than the new Rangers desperate ramblings from a desperate man. However really glad that it is happening to Morton as totally despise their fans and ground.
  12. I was in the main stand and to be honest we have a few numpties as supporters and the phrase people in glass houses springs to mind. Whilst standing there before and during the game I had to listen to some numpty behind me shouting to the Celtic support constantly about them being "Bead Rattlers" and something about not getting treated well by Priests ???? However the same fan did enquire during the game "who were we playing on Saturday" and "Why was Scott Fox not in goal" which kind of made me think maybe he was not too much of a regular ??? but take that away he was still there and still shouting the abuse. I thought as a support we were above that I thought that we as a support could at least muster chants that keep us above the cess pit of the old firm. I am not taking the high ground I will openly admit that I did sing the song that nobody wants to talk about but gives you some joy when you play the ugly sisters you know the one where you express some disgust as the colour of the their strips and Royalty/Leader of a certain faith. You see we have people in our support who are bead rattlers and others who are great lovers of John Knox(not missing out those in the support as well who think that yoda is a God you know who you are Jedi Knights and those who think its just Space) but the difference with us is that I have never asked or made it at times a pre requisite to join our club by singing about it. I know that when I go to watch the Jags play any of the ugly sisters then it gives me 90 mins to slag them. By slagging them it means to remind one side that they are the great unwashed or that the sister they thought was their sister will be appearing on Surprise Surprise sometime telling them news that will cost them dearly on Mothers day or the the other half that they are lovers of First world war German soldiers who did not know who their father was or that they are just Second Division rubbish who at times have been worse than East Fife. Some of the actions in the main stand on Wednesday was cringe worthy however and I mean however it did not excuse the actions of the great unwashed who were in the stand or those who are supposed offer security around these issues and that includes the club. Upwards and onwards 3 points at Perth on Saturday and it was all be a haze O.T.I.G
  13. Paul Paton at best was and is nothing short of being an average player. As for being remebered for his time at Firhill I do remember a lot of people being highly critical of his limited ability i.e. being only able to kick with one foot in fact at times it looked as though he practiced his control whilst being on a roundabout. Best of luck to Paul on his International call up as Northern Ireland would obviously be the only team he ever wanted to play for. Lets not get too rose tinted about his overall ability and even more so about his place within the history of Partick Thistle. Hopefully in years to come he will be remebered as Paul Who ???
  14. Going to Sharm El Shiek first two weeks in June cant wait..... fourth time going in the last 5 years love it hot sun and well looked after
  15. Apoligies stand corrected re rules and regulations however still believe any football should be played on grass. Any income stream at Firhill would be negated and probably take ages to make a profit due to the local proximity of other artificial parks i.e. Firhill Complex, Garscube and the Science park. So all in all in answer to your question.......Grass. A better proposal is to play on Grass at the right time of the year i.e. Summer when it continues to grow then we give the park a better chance of recovery however that may be a differnt topic
  16. No real reply as its a pointless question at this time due to present rules and regulations so not feasable. Lots of players dont like the surface to train on due to their own recurring injuries so at times reduces your potential signings.
  17. Auchenhowie????? or Murray Park or Aldi plains or Lidl Meadow or probably soon to be Barratt New build??? View
  18. Totally agree with your post Tom and understand the factor of games played ratio. I think that St Johnstone bore that out on Tuesday night with the experienced players who have played more SPL games than ours i.e. winning 1-0 and managing to see the game out with timewasting and all the other negative tactics that go with it and dont get me wrong they can play the other way as well first 30-40 minutes as an example. If that is where we are then what we have to do is get the basics right and unfortunately at the moment our defending at times is shocking. So point in question is if that is the big issue then thats where the manager earns his corn. I know that being a Jags fan is a rollercoaster that why I buy the ticket good times or bad
  19. It really depends on your definition of youth I would argue that the only manager in this Division that relies on youth is the Hearts manager. Archie has a talented squad that at times plays really attractive attacking football however on the other hand cant defend for the life of themselves and thats with the manager and assistant manager being experienced defenders in a previous life. As for the resale value at this moment in time the only realistic asset that we could hope to get money on is Aaron as his contract is up at the end of the season and selling him now would obvioulsy get the club money. I agree the rest of the squad could technically be sold at any time during a window however cant see anyone battering down the doors at the moment I hope that Gary Fraser goes on to realise his potential and is eventually someone who could make a lot of money for the club. I dont deny that Archie cares deeply and has the club at heart. However when it comes to a manager then I want to see the whole package in organising the team. If you look at the last 3 home games then all 5 goals are totally avoidable through basic defending from the Goalkeeper through to the back four. Lets cut out the basic mistakes and defend properly lets have a proper spine in the team thats everything I want to see in a manager and I really hope and want that person to be Archie
  20. Just throwing this one out there but if the manager was anyone else other than Alan Archiebald would we have given him this length of time with the current record we have. There would have been lots and lots of people on here and in the present board calling for his head. Before anyone starts to have a go I am just asking the question ?????
  21. I spoke about this in the pub on Saturday. I think that it is time that we changed the way we shoot in the second half. I think that in the second half we should play towards the Noth stand. Couple of reasons for this firstly we always play better in the first half however with the noise of the North stand in the second half it might encourage the players more thus producing more attacking play and less going into that usual shell. Secondly and probably more importantly as has been seen over the last few games at Firhill when we have to defend the lead we drop deeper and deeper and get more anxious so not only the players get anxious but the crowd as well so rather than have so many people behind the goal venting their frustrations and anxiety all they would have is the bing and to be honest nobody would want to go near the bing. In all seriousness I do think a change is needed as I know that players should be able to deal with the shouts and all that but sometimes they can be a superstitious bunch as well so maybe its time for a change.....Thoughts
  22. Just watched the highlights for the first time Balatoni has an absolute Bombscare moment going for the header when Muirhead is already there. Once the penalty was given Muirhead looked as though he was going to take Conrads head off he was that angry. When the penalty is taken Balatoni looks as though he is still in a sulk. To be fair though Taylor is beside him as well so both players should have bust a gut to get to the rebound. Though a defenders instinct should always kick in.
  23. To be fair it was a penalty but I dont think the challenge had to be made at that point as if you watch the footage his first touch gets stuck under his feet
