  1. Every single time a Scottish club side plays in European competition, the know alls of scottish football say something along the lines of: "It's a tough game for ... tonight. The opposition are a good side, technically gifted, well organised and have a real presence about them". This is usually followed up by: "Because of the technical aspects of the opposition, team A will have to play with a bit of caution. They'll need to be cagey for the first 15/20 minutes and then start committing men forward" No wonder every scottish side goes out so early when apparently we all do the same thing no matter who the oppositon are!!! It could be a Scotland's greatest XI against a San Marinese Pub side and still the Craig Browns, Craig Patersons and Billy Dodds of the world would insist how "technically gifted and well organised" they were and that "caution" would be required. Argh.
  2. IELTS is also available in a wide range of sizes and can be shipped to Japan for no extra charge. Just so you don't have to take the effort of asking.
  3. Seems we are also too poor to provide a blooy pennant for the opposition!!!
  4. First half was fine. Second half not so much. We had 4 central midfielders on in the second half, all perfectly content to straddle the half way line for the whole 90 minutes. This in turn meant that the a buoy at sea had more company than your strikers and out defenders were left to close down and mark. Hodge was the worst of the lot. He takes so so long to make a pass anyone else would have done in 2 touches at the most. On the bright side, Boyle looks like he's getting the hang of this round ball lark and Halliwell looks like a solid keeper to have. Now BoD, stop being tightfisted rectums and bloody sign him. (Hopefully Flannigan will also show more willingness to attack as opposed to make a square pass or turn backwards).
  5. Bah, the guy cries every time he takes to the field for the DPRK, whether they are playing Brazil or the the Sandwich Islands. Both politically and geographically he is Japanese but was raised in an ethnic Korean Community, the aforementioned Zainichians. He din't go to a Korean school. He went to a school in Japan that was there to cater for the Zainichian community.
  6. Speaking of which, during the Nigeria v Greece match, a nigerian player was (admittedly correctly) sent-off after hitting out with his foot at a greek player on the touchline. Now, this wasn't what annoyed me, but what happened next did, and no commentator or pundit picked up on it or even seemed to notice it! The "victim" who has been brushed on the leg by the Nigerian paused for a split-second, noticed the referee approach and then collapsed on to the floor holding his face and rolling around as if he had been brutally assaulted. He should have walked aswell in my opinion!
  7. Excellent article! It's all true unfortunately. Personally I feel that Adebayor has been the worst of the lot. Can't understand him at all and to be perfectly honest, it's just as well as he talks a lot of rubbish anyway. Why is a player who was stupid enough to run the length of a pitch to taunt fans (and also has no tactical/coaching previous) allowed to share his "expert" view of a game. Edgar Davids has looked silly too, constantly sits slouched in his chair with his arms folded as if he was on the couch at home watching Countryfile! As for Chiles and Linekar...grrrrrrr!!!
  8. Ah, the sweet chime of a similar opinion. I too feel that Gomez comes under the label, "carthorse". Offers nothing at all, and he has previous, doing the square root of nothing at the last World Cup and the Euros in 2008. True to form, his first few touches against the Aussies resulted in him miscontrolling the ball and giving away a throw-in...actually come to think of it those might have been his only touches!
  9. Not as bad as when you asked someone to repeat themselves twice and still don't hear what they said, after all, the very thought of asking a third time is just ridiculous. The safest bet is usually laugh and turn away to another conversation or task.
  10. Tuffey made 3 good stops, all of which were forced by defensive hesitancy, here's hoping Maxwell will be offski. Thought Rowson or MacBeth would have been worth the MotM award, Erskine was decent without causin any real problems for Queens. Grehan looks like a good signing though, it's a pity that others rarely seemed to pick up on his flick ons or chest downs. As for Doolan's goal, talk about saving the best 'till last!
