  1. Excellent photies, excellent result! Starks Park is definitely a unique stadium. The two end stands are excellent, and for uniqueness the old L-shaped stand takes a bit of beating. Then you have that empty stretch along the length of the park with nothing but houses overlooking the ground, then across the park there's yon odd-looking wee stand that runs along the railway side. If we're lucky, we might end up with something like that in place of the current main stand at Firhill, though we might not even end up with something as grand as that.
  2. That would be a great song for the JH stand to belt out. So, how would you spell "tsunami"?
  3. Aw naw, now every time I hear the shed boys singing..........

    Farewell

Think I saw him a few times in the JH stand, in roe G. Eel be back.
  5. Just a random question: Is there water in the bath when you do that?
  6. Those who were at Starks Park and who bought a programme will be able to say if Raith Rovers still run their goal sponsorship scheme. I forget the details, but it's something like give a quid for every goal scored. I'd be more than happy to do that for every game that we won. Once again, best if the club offers some kind of lucky draw for subscribers, for hospitality, vouchers or something. Another idea: a 50/50 scorer sweepstake, like the ones they (used to?) run on supporters' buses. Pay a quid and draw one of the 20 outfield players at random. If he (or she) scores, you get 50% of the total takings, the other 50% going to the club. Clearly this would be oversubscribed on the day, so simply have several sets of players prepared in advance and when the first set is exhausted, move onto the second set and so on. There would be multiple winners depending on how many people bought a ticket/how many sets were sold, so the total prize money would simply be divided by the number of sets sold. I'd probably stick a quid on that each week.
  7. It seems he played a blinder in today's 2-2 draw against St Johnstone. It would be great if he could get to Hampden with Brechin!
  8. What a shame we got off to such a rotten start in the league.
  9. Pretty much in agreement with all of that.
  10. We probably are. But we're less bust that some others.
  11. I agree with some, but not all of what you are saying. There may be around 1/3 of adults claiming disability allowances, but that does NOT mean that they are all disabled to the point that they are incapable of working. Many of them simply choose not to work, because they enjoy the lifestyle that not working and various allowances allow them to lead, and they're successful at conning too many people. Addiction is a difficult one, whether alcohol or drugs. In most cases, self-inflicted, and a real cause of misery to family members who are not also in the same boat, and indeed many of the addicts themselves. Frankly, many if not most of them are indeed incapable of holding down any kind of job that requires judgement and reliability. The best way to deal with them isn't easy to work out when resources are being stretched everywhere else (but bankers' bonuses), and I doubt if we could come up with the solution here.
  12. Kris Doolan....Goal-Scoring Machine!
  13. Sigesige00, Hope nobody you know has been affected by the earthquake or tsunami. My friends in Kyoto told me that they didn't feel anything, but somebody in Osaka did feel it. How about in Kobe? Truly terrible devastation in the north-east.
  14. From where I was sitting (around the middle, 6 rows or so from the front) the sound was excellent, except for the audible click each time the plectrum hit a string on a couple of the guitar solos. That was the first concert of their tour, so I'd hope that would get ironed out for subsequent gigs. I guess we were all the guinea kangaroos. Would go to see them again anytime at the drop of a hat.
  15. Excellent. Now regret not making the long trek, but the conditions here in Stirling were horrendous, and with no car the prospect of various bus and train journeys was not edifying. But bring it on at "New Brockville" on Tuesday.
  16. Thanks for that!! Hmm, interesting that there was a British Olympic squad back then........
  17. If that was true then it would make Glasgow surely the sickest place on the planet. Anybody who actually believes that one person in three is ill or disabled to the point where they cannot hold down a job is seriously deluded, in my opinion. Just wanted to get that in.
  18. There'll be a celebratory tipple or two at Chateau Jaggernaut ce soir.
  19. YAAAS!! Paddy Boyle! He had a stinker on Tuesday, but all forgiven now!
  20. Mon Jags, 2 more minutes.......
  21. ".....but Rowson's shot is well over the bar." How many times do we get to read that???!!
  22. Sounds like Paton has found his touch with crosses again. He put in several excellent ones on Tuesday, and more of the same today, it seems.
  23. Triple substitution by Rovers. I guess that's called trying to shake things up!
