Barney Rubble
Loosing three players is fine if those players are going on to bigger and better. But thats not ICT. Players can talk to ICT. There is nothing we can do to stop that but we can not accept from the club that we are not on a level playing field with ICT and can,t equal them for contracts. The money has to be found somehow to compete at least at this level for players if we are to have cup runs and a regular presence in the top flight. Fully agree with you. Having said that, Archie is a few points close to cementing that mentality. A couple of wins this week would confirm safety, and who knows what else (don't want to jinx it by mentioning it). This season, he's demonstrated the ability to turn a horror first quarter around spectacularly, and his record in uncovering additions that add genuine ability to the squad has come on since the days of Mark Kerr and John Baird - and that's not meant as a criticism of those lads by any means. They just were not what we needed at that point. The one thing that I would ask to be improved this year once safety is confirmed (hopefully), is that the Board give Archie the wherewithal to confirm his new signings before pre-season starts. Our poor first quarter this season was largely down to not having reinforcements in place ahead of the start of hostilities, as our form and performances since the beginning of October have proved.
