JAGZ1876 Posted September 23, 2011 Report Share Posted September 23, 2011 It would probably have been discussed at the time jagfox, but i would imagine after being called Partick Thistle for 33years before moving to Maryhill that the board and more importantly the fans wouldn't have wanted a change of name. Take Clyde for example, (please take them ) they didn't change their name when they moved to Cumbernauld even though they had moved from their river bank beginnings. I would only imagine that in those days clubs were run by local men, So proud Partick people would want to keep some link when they moved out of the area, My father was a Partick man, area and club and he was fiercely proud of that. So we'll follow Thistle, follow Maryhill Thistle, 'Cos there's not a team like the Maryhill Jags. See! Doesn't work. Nor does.. And it's Maryhill Thistle, Maryhill Thistle F.C., They're by far..
