northernsoul
Currently winning 1v0, Flannigan freekick - top corner. Another trialist playing too apparently. link

Clinically Depressed
Just back from the game. Shame about the late o.g. We were the better side by some distance. Halliwell had only about three trundling shots from distance to deal with. Paul Cairney did the proverbial "covered every blade of grass" routine. Still too much passing at the edge of the box, but a good workout. Pictures up later.

McKennan
Thanks Jimmy. Any idea of the Celtic line-up? I assume it wasn't the one getting horsed over here.

Didn't have access to team lines. I do know that I'll put up our goal as a sequence of 2 to show how well the kick was struck. left their keeper rooted to the spot. We nearly scored in the first few minutes, but Doolan was about 6 inches away from connecting to a possible tap in. View of the campsies was nice though, in spite of the occasional heavy rainfall. Match Report I was probably in the worst position of all to answer that, northernsoul. I was positioned near the corner flag at the other end, but the best way I can comment is a reminder from my first post that Bryn Halliwell only had about three long distance trundlers to deal with. The fact that it took an o.g. for them to equalise, and they treated it like a cup win says it all.

Firhillista
Any idea of the trialist centre-back's name? Googled various approximations from the THW report, but no success.
McKennan
I've been looking in Soccerbase with little success. I wonder if the lad is one of Kenny Moyes' clients. Edited July 17, 2010 by McKennan

McKennan
Not yet, but we've named trialists before. I'm sure if Brynnnnnnn were listed as a trialist that'd cause all sorts of a stushie.
Jeehon
Conrad Balatoni has came through the youth ranks at Hearts, quite a good player. He's English by the way
Tom Hosie
On the website it lists Flannigan as a trialist, but it doesn't for Halliwell. Have we signed him yet? I never know what the 'correct' process re naming trialists should be. My confusion is reflected in the way the line up is given. Better to simply always give the name trialist no matter how obvious it is who the player is? Kind of think if everyone knows who they are then providing a name is fine. It is faiirly well documented that Halliwell and Flannigan are with us pre-season. If it isn't common knowledge who the player is I prefer to just use trialist (as was the case initially with Flannigan)and wouldn't give a name without the express permission of the manager. Didn't get the chance to ask about the centre back today as the manager was rushing off to the Morton game.
Firhillista
"Hearts intend to farm several young players out on loan due to the absence of an SPL reserve league. Jefferies is seeking short-term moves for those who are now too old for under-19s. Dylan McGowan and Michael Deland have had loans mooted with East Fife and Cowdenbeath respectively. "I'm hoping to do the same with another four or five," said Jefferies. "Conrad Balatoni and Jonny Stewart need games and there's another couple." " From the Scotsman. looks like a loan deal then? lennythistle
I doubt we'll consider taking Conroy back unless Boyle moved on. I'm willing to give Boyle time to prove himself. He picked up an injury last season which clearly hampered him. Problem now is, McCall has made it clear he doesn't want him so are the fans willing to give the lad a chance ? There lies the problem, fans dont give players time they make their minds up the dont like players and thats that, happens every year at thistle one or two guys are hung out as scapegoats when some other diddy can do no wrong. Anyway we cant afford to let him go (Boyle) till archie is back playing as we have no left sided cover then, unless you fancy maxwell out there!!! Anyway we cant afford to let him go (Boyle) till archie is back playing as we have no left sided cover then, unless you fancy maxwell out there!!! Good points MMJ. Plus it's always more acute for players who ply their trade down the flanks. For 45 minutes every fortnight they're every touch, every mistake is scrutinised by the entire support. Boyle may fall short of what we require but he's not nearly as bad as some make out. His confidence appears easily shattered and he more than most really needs the fans to get off his back. Easier said than done as we all get that frustrated but the guy needs given more of a chance.
