  1. Agree totally, quite enjoyed my match day experience in the Main Stand (minus the FT score obviously). Haven't been in the JHS stand in yonks but could it sounds like it could do with a coat of paint and some Toilet Duck. Would it be in this state if the rugger chaps were still at Firhill? Then again, gawd knows what state the pitch would be in. Also, would the Main Stand be an option as a permanent singing section base? Don't know how the sound travelled across to the JHS but the place was rocking and I thought the atmosphere was really good.
  2. Cheers Tommy. Defeated but in many ways a great day - fans, atmosphere, players effort etc.
  3. From the Celtic forum Kerrydale: http://kerrydalestreet.co.uk/topic/8859500/9/ A Celtic supporting mate with a GSOH sent me the above. Is this some kind of twisted fantasy? Sounds kind of creepy to me.
  4. The support from the so-called best fans ever was p**s poor. Expected better. That surely wasn't the Green Brigade; or was it? I take it there was no trouble after the game? A mate pointed me to a Celtic forum and apparently we've upset one or two of them with our chants. The more evolved even acknowledged that we gave them a game and our fans were "funny"! I think they expect every team in Scotland to simply lie down when they come a calling. Thought we tried like f*** and could have taken something out of the game. In truth, the move to the main stand turned out to be not that bad.
  5. £3 and here next day. Good to see that the office is firing on all cylinders. Oh, and the girl who dealt with my call couldn't have been friendlier.
  6. Having watched how we looked suspect at corners, what do you think Celtic will do on Sunday? Fox needs some protection IMO. Butcher probably knew that his team would get a few corners and no doubt instructed his players to put pressure on the keeper. In my view a couple of challenges were definitely aimed at intimidating Fox - maybe with a view to making him flap. In fairness, he took his punishment and I hope the ref' provided a degree of protection; which I trust also happens on Sunday. But the rich irony was that it was the home keeper who sold the jerseys! Sweet...
  7. The power of Shoot magazine! But how many supporters of other Glasgow teams not called Clyde or Queens Park do so because they were told to do so by their dad? I used to work with a guy who travelled from Chelmsford to watch Sunderland (another who never missed a game) and he spoke of fellow travellers who continued on the Aberdeen train to support Brechin. Football needs these guys.
  8. Take your point but do you seriously believe either would stay if a half-decent offer came in from elsewhere? Yes, the money will come in handy; but time will tell if it's spent wisely and I don't mean on repairing seats in the NS.
  9. Will there be a problem with standing? If memory serves, did a small vocal section of the Hibs support not get to stand at the last game? After they scored it certainly looked as if they were bouncing; and not with ar*e* planted firmly on seats! Or will the stewards be instructed to calm the natives?
  10. What a player, never gave up and tackled and generally did what was necessary to win the ball. Great work rate and attitude and as a good a signing as I've seen in years. What a great 3 points.
  11. Ahh, the golden age of flashing! What we'd do to defend the tin roofed shrine. I remember when the polis sent in dogs and they came out shaved and minus their tails. Happy days. Is this not getting a wee bit daft? Like most fans, I'm not happy about losing the North Stand and even thought about giving this one a miss. But then I thought about it and decided that I've been waiting too long to remind the so-called GFITW that there's only one team in Glasgow.
  12. In a thread that asks what songs compel you to get up and dance from sunny Cowdenbeath we get: So are we to assume that you like nothing more than dancing to the national anthem of the Nazi party in Germany? Other than trying to stir up the forum, can you tell us why you like the sentiments expressed in Horst Wessel Lied? I think we need to know, even just to understand where you might be coming from.
  13. For one game only I can see why the free entry approach needs to be controlled. Failure to do so could see a huge influx of weans, not all of them Jags fans. When we were last in the SPL it was amazing how many OF fans used to obtain tickets and sneak into the Thistle end. I even remember one old bloke turning to his mate to say that "these guys take football way too seriously!" The fact that they were shocked at what has being aimed at their team gave me no end of pleasure.
  14. Visionary. As Benny Hill said: The youth is the hope of our future.
  15. Thanks for clarifying. Can't fault the above but, at risk of sounding like a pedantic p****, my response was based on your response to Blackpool Jag; which, to my mind, suggests that the SCS have some form of enhanced role within the democratic process. Talking of micro-management, or should that be fire-fighting, what exactly is IDS doing with welfare reform (the one he was warned might not work due to the complexity of the benefits system and crap IT)? But maybe I'm going off at a tangent.
  16. So the senior civil service are running the country and not taking their orders from a government minister. Interesting fact.
  17. Apologies G, meant to post earlier - you'll gather I've been quiet on the forum of late (there's only so much sh*** one man can talk!). Really enjoyed the gig on Friday; in truth, didn't know what to expect and this mob were seriously good. Travelling trumpet player was also a bonus
  18. Was worth travelling into Glasgow for; plus Esperanza just keep getting better and better. Cheers MJ P.S. Hope all ok your end.
  19. Been to a fair few of your nights in Pivo and this one was outstanding. A great big thanks to all concerned. Great night and good to see so many Thistle boys there (S Side reunion!)
  20. Hmmm, too angry and p*ssed off to make rational decisions. I liked the idea of banning Celtic for obvious reasons but this was never going to happen; so more of a novelty value suggestion IMO. At the end of the day money talks. Put simply and in terms of crowd and atmosphere etc, the N Stand was the best thing that's happened at Firhill in years. It's a sad day that it's been taken away as I think this will kill the atmosphere at many home games; especially those where we'll be able to count the away fans! I can always find an excuse not to go to Firhill but then guilt kicks in; plus I can't live with the threatening texts from a few regulars. Time to call my therapist...
  21. Are you two like special friends? Head Boy and Fag, Cameron and Osborne? You should read the Guardian mate, you'd be understood for what you are...
  22. From an email I received I understand a certain Japanese student who is known to the forum has been following this series closely. Not sure if he owns the strips Does anyone know the times for repeats etc? Not my question, just doing a fellow jags fan a favour!
  23. Good post but, in fairness, I don't think the good comrade is a Nazi; just a gin-soaked old wannabe socialist. Don't tell, but the ITV drama The Americans is actaully based on him and his missus. They were trained by the KGB and then parachuted (big parachute by the way) into West Lothian in the 1950's. Problem is that there's not much to report back on what the capitalist scum are up to in sunny Penicuik. Jaggy developed a certain decadent lifestyle and hasn't looked back; or even bothered to send messages tied to one of his pigeon's legs. Jaggy, you've been outed mate. Why not just come clean and stop hiding behind your Empire Loyalist disguise. In terms of Tories on the forum, I'd guess there are one or two but surely their entitled to their opinion? Even if we may not agree with what they say? I mean, there are a few on here who are clearly left-leaning and even we rarely agree with each other. Which probably explains why there is no united left anymore. (Take a look at past threads when Sheridan's name is mentioned!) In truth, I'd be more concerned about the odd neo-liberal who punts stuff on the forum; and yes, there are one or two. Not old-school liberals who appear quite passionate about what they belive in, I'm talking about the ones who see the need for cuts in welfare and who believe that if benefits are slashed this will lead to people having to drop their walking sticks and start sprinting in a race towards zero hour contracts. Some forward-thinking socially-minded employers are actually offering such enticements! Known as "well haud me back" contracts. As James Joyce said of Jesus: "Come forth Lazurus... he came fifth, and lost the job". This mob (probably the wrong collective noun, maybe a pairing of pricks?) see great wisdom in all forms of austerity cuts and see no problem with (legal though immoral) tax avoidance. They are the ones who should be attacked, not the Penicuik Patriot. IMO of course.
  24. Jaggy, slowly but surely you're on the turn mate. Next thing you'll be demonstrating in the streets. I'll be at my club, but that's not the point; or is it?
