I think there are a couple of genuinely good people on the Board. But there isn't one with an ounce of business sense about them. Having spoken to many of them, I'm legitimately terrified by the utter "blue sky" thinking that many of them come away with. I've just wanted to say, "are you for f--ing real!?" And that's the worst thing about it. Yes, there are these self-promoting types who think that being a Thistle fan is an adequate qualification for running a football club (that's been a problem throughout the club). But there are many more who are well intentioned, but ultimately lack the skill, or objectivity and distance to make decisions in the best interest of the club. I honestly think someone like Jim Trainor (yes, I know) would be an ideal outside consultant: "Partick Thistle. You're seen as a pathetic cuddly toy with no real club culture or direction. The rest of Scottish football laugh at you...and here is how we are going to change it!"
As for TJF. I've lost all faith there. Whenever it comes to these sorts of things, you have a self-selecting effect. And that self-selecting is former university politicians who joined the Socialist Society in Freshers Week, weren't quite successful in becoming Student Union President, and now find themselves in a position at the club (a little tongue and cheek so don't come at me...some of you were probably founders of the Lib Dem Society). Collin Weir displayed incredible generosity, but we are still beholden to this ridiculous notion of fan ownership as if his word was gospel, and we must follow it at all costs. This nonsense was the start of a very, very long road to ruin.
A very long winded way of saying, it's been quite a fall since Mr David Beattie.
