Did jaggybunnet just quote from hegel there??
  3. thats good to know. shows the guy cares about issues to do with football supporters. i think this is where having a body that represents the thistle fans would be a useful thing to have to act as an input into policy formation in the GCC arena.
  4. Think there is now an independant charity group that deals in the remit of community involvement initiatives. According to the PTFC website David Beattie is on the board of this body, though im not sure if there are jags trust board members on that board as well - i dunno if that means that the jags trust no longer deals directly in that kinda thing beyond having that pecerntage of their revenue that goes towards community initiatives. (doesnt seem neccessary now as it would probably be duplication of services) The information on the jags trust website is pretty old so don't really know if they deal in that stuff any more or not...
  5. maybe they are a bunch of wanks. but we already know that celtic are consulting with their fans about getting safe standing in parkhead probably following the commonwealth games. there is also a question in this questionairre asking about thoughts on this issue. we also know that clubs if they work in conjunction with the fans can influence council in regards to their saftey team recommendations hence one of the reasons for the difference between the treatment of our singing section with our fans and celtics treatment of their singing section with their fans... It seems to me therefore that its probably better to take advantage of whatever inputs we have into GCCs decision making processes as stakeholders in any football related policies in glasgow...
  6. Anybody watching this season? Predictions anyone? Good to see the seahawks disposing of the panthers today
  7. theres been so many twists and turns in the whole jags trust saga over the years it would probably be helpful for someone to putforward a basic chronology of the events over say the last 5 years or so which can serve as something to be contested by various parties... for me personally i've never understood the logic of how the problems of a democratically elected body can be sorted by the replacement by another democratically elected body which caters to the same set of football supporters. If the problem with democratic body x is that a bunch of self serving wanks get elected onto the board then what is there to stop the same self serving wanks getting elected onto democratic body y? I also can't see how a club led 'supporters association' can ever lead to confidence in its remit in making the club accountable to the fans. Surely such a body will inherantly have conflicts of interests embedded within them at best, or at worst would be a mechanism for the club to manage/manipulate fans concerns giving it the veneer of having their 'assent' by their 'involvement'. Its because of these concerns that i think that if there are problems with how the trust operates the fight to solve said problems ought to take place within the independant structure already in existance (ie the trust) rather than setting up an alternative organisation - especially one that is club led - i mean FFS can you imagine what it would be like if your employer decided to disband your union setting up an alternative organisation to represent your interests?
  8. yeah pretty shocking that they don't engage with the fans. they clearly need a new engagement strategy... maybe they should come up with an idea to have a meeting where people can join up and influence their direction. maybe getting something like the manager to come along would help get more fans interested?
  9. was a good idea of the BOD to get rid of that cause they had a better idea to create something to keep them accountable that tag thing right??
  10. ha true. but anything that sounds proper geeky is good imo
  11. the partick thistle supporters federation sounds affy like the partick thistle supporters association.
  12. that only matters if one is affiliated in some way to tartan-army-ness. which is thankfully a dwindling part of the culture this side of the border... Club over country!!!
  13. the club should get him involved in publicity stuff. who cares if people aint seen him at firhill in ages, he stays in england and his job was on matchday... hes said on plenty of interviews that the two scores he checks for first are liverpool and partick thistle.....the OF use their 'alumni' to promote their brand, even ones who went onto bigger things such as kenny dalgiesh. so we should definately get him up for publicity stuff now that hes no longer doing match of the day..
  14. is this supposed to be irony? if not surely getting some coverage in football media is a good thing despite pedantry with inaccuracies of songs?
  15. its a bit nichezean eternal return that. i remember fitzpatrick saying practically the same stuff as lennon about their position in the league the season after they won 1987 scottish cup...
  16. aye its a belter that book. hilarious that the writer like a couple of years earlier gets into soccer through the world cup in the USA with no prior knowledge, and in the book details him taking the manager to task about tactics what team he should pick etc hilarious... all the other wider cultural stuff very interesting too.. season in verona is a craking read too, what division are chievo in now?
  17. pretty sure my dad said there used to be....
  18. im too much of a jake to be a luvvie...
  19. im not too bothered about the luvvies to be honest. think we are a big enough club to handle people who would identify themselves as such. cuddly toy of scottish football is a different issue entirely though, something which david beattie seems to make a lot of statements about changing. If we are happy to change our seating arrangements to accomodate stuff whatever that definately justifies the perspective as cuddly toy. That being said, i dont really think its in beatties remit to change taht perception. Thats on us, as fans to show that we won't be ****** with IMO. whats peoples thoughts on where we are at with this stuff? what are our prospects of getting the long term stuff sorted? (celtic being too close to really change now)
  20. true and thats something that one should be careful of not falling into a trap of doing when going down those kinda avenues. For instance, one avenue that i think is pretty easy to exploit when clubs are making decisions that affect their own fanbases, is rivalry between football supporters of differing clubs. A lot of energy can be expended at percieved injustices vis a vis different groups of supporters instead of trying to actually establish the facts (with no apriori standpoint to dictate the interpretation of the facts) before proceeding with a case thats informed by a foundation based on facts. I think this is especially the case when it comes to football support in scotland where there are pre-established narratives to guide how events are to be interpreted. This is obviously true in regards to the OF, but i think that we are not immune to that tendency as well.. This is where i think having bodies that represent fans accross the teams (like they have in england with the football supporters federation) would be better by fostering a culture of dialogue between fans that are getting ****** over by their clubs. I mean, is there much of a difference between the issues faced by the GB in regards to section 111 and whats happening with us in the north stand?
  21. since its so easy to make these requests, ive done one for what its worth. wish i had checked my spelling first though https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/safety_advisory_decisionsrecomme/new theres also one relating to the rangers celtic under 16 game at firhill - wonder what team this chap supports? https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/policing_at_firhill
  22. Yesterday i bumped into a chap i know from old days that has some knowledge of the green brigade. He was telling me that the safety committee at glasgow city council is made up of all operarators of stadiums in glasgow (i.e football clubs) alongwith fire brigade, police etc. So (if that is the case) its not like they are some isolated committee making pronouncements over football clubs of which they have little power over, the football clubs are amongst the very agents that make up the rules of the safety committee. I never knew that - you learn a new thing every day i guess... im wondering that if they are a public body then surely it would be easy to obtain documentation of what their rules and conditions are, and also what gets discussed in their meetings via minutes... Looking back on the statement of the club about the north stand debacle i found this bit a bit bizarre http://ptfc.co.uk/ne...ion_next_season That seems to be depicting a purely hypothetical scenario that IF safety committee want x to grant a safety certificate then we have to do x to get a safety certificate. But this, it seems, is not at present a condition by the safety committee so that point really has no relevance to the situation at present. We don't have to do x.. Sorry if this is going over old ground but just seems a bit bizarre. would be good to see the safety committees minutes and other documents to get some real clarification about what is actually going on.... If it was the situation where GCC had one set of rules for us and another set of rules for celtic then one would think with hard evidence that this is the case that it would be possible to fight it - irrespective of whether the BOD have our backs as it were? I think you are right with the level of influence the green brigade have with their club these days. Chap i was talking to was telling me that celtic allegedly have done a feasabilty study over safe standing at various sections in the ground and (allegedly) consulted with the green brigade about where to place it in it. It seems that after the commonwealth games celtic will move to get safe standing in parkhead.... For what its worth, his analysis of the dynamics of the relationship between CFC and the greenbrigade is that the CFC will use them when its of use to them as a sounding board, but will, if its not of use to them discipline them as it were like what took place with section 111 being scrapped. The reasoning that can be inferred by this U-turn seemed to be that because of them selling their best players, not reinvesting in the team and so on, coupled with bad results in europe, it would have been too much to their detriment (in terms of 'the product') to destroy the atmosphere at celtic park for the return leg, and in general returning to dead atmosphere at parkhead prior to the development of the green brigade. To be honest, i think the idea that that the ability to create or take away an atmosphere is probably a bit overstated but maybe thats just me..The green brigade do seem to have some influences with their club and they certainly seem to attribute it to their ability to create an atmosphere at celtic park. I don't think the atmosphere they create is in the same league as the one youse north standers create, so taking off my cynical hat there, i do wonder if there is any influence that can be generated from that? There does seem to be some parallels between the way that celtics board operate with their vocal fans and the way things are with our state of affairs. Seems that club are happy to consult with the fans but as soon as its somethign that may not be to their likeing they are shut out.. anyway im rambling now and ive kinda forgotten what my point was supposed to be there haha ETA - found this on the internet re the safety committee, celtic and the GB as a freedom of information act quiery. https://www.whatdoth...sponse.doc.html This would show that its celtic that are making decisions for their own reasons rather than merely responding to the concerns of the safety committee.... seems that the safety committee function as a bogie man red herring for clubs to steam roller their own decisions onto their fanbase. seems that our bod and celtic's bod have a got a bit in common over that practice... maybe worth while doing a similiar freedom of information request regarding our scenario?
