  1. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_div_1/div_1_scorers/default.stm He finished with 8 league goals according to the BBC, good for equal 12th in the league, only 2 goals/5 places behind Buchanan. I know Buchanan was injured for parts of the season, but Donnelly is supposed to create chances for others rather than finish goals off and his tally compares well to other strikers that have previously been suggested as signing targets on this and other forums.
  2. The words appear to be a direct quote from McCall, so I would guess he is at fault for saying it, rather than the Evening Times journo for writing it.
  3. Sorry, not attending this forum as frequently as the previous one and just saw this. To the poster who asked above, I France A beat us 25-18, highlights here The SRL are still keen on getting a professional team I believe, although it has been a year since I was on the West of Scotland Service Area Board in the SRL so I am not up to date. The Scottish League Conference is run parallel to the Rugby League Conference in England, an amateur and developmental league at the lowest level of English Rugby League. There are now 8 teams in the league (although membership has been quite transient, as some clubs tend to last for only a few seasons - while others such as Edinburgh, Fife and Easterhouse are more established). Until this season, there are usually a couple of teams who are very good, and could maybe compete with lower levels of semi-pro or part-time teams, while the rest tend to be making up the numbers. The Playoff winner is entered into the first round of the Challenge Cup, and for the first time last season advanced though two rounds of the competition (which is surprising as this takes place during our Union season and the squad hadn't trained or played together all year (League is only played in Summer in Scotland) - I'm not sure how they got on this season though. I don't really think there would be much support for a Pro team in Scotland though - Murrayfield Magic as a one-off event doesn't even manage to pull in 60,000 over the two days and fans of all the English Super League teams attend this. I was there in 2009 and the only Scottish accents I heard were the guys I played rugby league with and they were there on free tickets to organise the Ball Boys while I got a Hospitality ticket as the Chairman of one of the SRL teams. sigesige00, the scrum is boring?! It is boring in RL where scrums are a foregone conclusion, and possibly at international level where scrum halfs aren't penalised for feeding in the scrum, but they are a neutral way of getting play started without conceeding too great an advantage for a minor infringement.
  4. Watching that I started to think about how I as a rather irregular attender, was actually present to see quite a few of those moments and can still remember basking in them - but have never watched footage of them. Then I thought how it is the opposite way around for most Old F*rm fans, as many of them never see their favourite or great moments in person and only bask in their successes when they gloat to colleagues at work who support the alternate cheek.
  5. I'm not entirely sure on this, so await correction, but I think if a player moves to another club in the same country then training compensation applies to players under 24, but if he moves to a club in a different country (or different FA) then it only applies if the player is under 23.
  6. I think it would be a good idea. I nominate jags365 as a commentator, as having sat beside 2 or 3 of the Nomads' Harry Wraggs, he's the only one who actually seems to be decent at it. No offense Twinny or WJ
  7. The exact same as on the previous forum I'd imagine, where hitting Reply quotes only the post you are Replying to, and if you click Multi-quote (+quote on jagsforum) on multiple posts then hit Add Reply at the bottom of the thread, your reply will have each post you wanted to quote.
  8. I meant training at the start of my post rather than the 10K its self. I just re-read my post and see that it doesn't come across that way! If you're wanting to keep it up after your big run, you could maybe join a running club to find folk to run with regularly.
  9. Seem to have got a bit of a reaction there, sorry if I offended Back to the football, I agree completely, I think Clarke's the kind of player we've been looking for for a while. ...and he isn't an over the hill diddy like we signed last year.
  10. Are you doing it on your own or with friends? The first 10K I did I found it difficult to motivate myself, but found some friends to go running with at lunchtimes a couple of times a week and have done a couple more 10Ks and a half marathon now. Been struggling with knee problems recently, but want to have a go at the Edinburgh Marathon in a year or two.
  11. But then again, if he plays 5 competitive matches over the next two years, he's unlikely to get an offer from anyone better than Berwick Rangers. He'll want to get more games and I would imagine accept a drop in pay in order to play at a higher level in his future career. OT: checked wiki for his age, and saw something Third Lanark will be pleased by: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Clarke
  12. There's a Canadian Championship?! Watched a couple of Toronto FC Matches online, but they are rubbish, and so are the rest of the MLS so don't really pay attention to it, only really care about the Hockey and the Baseball - and Toronto aren't much better at those!!
  13. 2-0, with 5 mins left, get it round ye! Still not convinced the Canucks will be up to much... but wait to be proved wrong.
