  1. And what manager in our league wouldn't know that? Bannigan got a total doing at Fir Park and gave away a penalty. Bannigan may be able to play left back, but whether or not he should is a different matter....
  2. Pretty terrible game - picked up where we left off after the Inverness game. But we showed a lot of energy tonight, as we have done throughout the season. Cerny didn't have a save to make, and the fact we kept going at them up until the 95th minute (and scored) gives me hope. We can make the league table look a lot better, but the next three league games (Hearts away, Aberdeen home and St Johnstone home) aren't a pushover. However, we're due a decent performance v Jambos, we've got a point from Aberdeen and we've beaten St Johnstone so hope springs eternal. And now, the Scotch Cup....
  3. Thanks very much, TJR. I don't know how it compares but it strikes me that a 14.28% success rate isn't that great....
  4. I'd like to get this game played tomorrow if at all possible - Motherwell had an energy-sapping draw on Saturday and getting them out on a heavy pitch tomorrow night is not what they will want. If we do play tomorrow, I think we've got a right good chance.....
  5. OK, here's my question - Scott Fox saved a penalty during normal time today. I can't remember him getting anywhere near a penalty, far less saving one when he played for us. Does the wads of cash from Rossco allow him better penalty-saving skills?
  6. Aye, the DDB may grind into action here, but Lee Mculloch makes Gary Locke look like Guardiola.....
  7. So where do Greg Palast and John Pilger play? If one of them isn't a striker..... Anyway, back at the topic about who we're bringing in......
  8. Absolutely spot on analysis, Metzmagic. I remember that wee prick Novo at Raith aiming a punch at Archies knee and getting sent off after the full Italian pantomime. I remember Leigh Griffiths on a losing Livi side missing a good chance and kicking the advertising hoarding and breaking his foot. And when you say how much you dislike these players it's because they play for the Old Firm ? Flip me, we know our history better than these so-called teams that thrive on 'history' and 'tradition' .
  9. #11 Buchanan cross for Dools to score. The old to the new?
  10. Both Doolan and Cerny could probably play for any other team in the SPFL, outside of Celtic (and maybe even then) so the fact that they are willing to commit their futures to us suggests two things : 1) Archie is selling the club to players very well, notwithstanding the lack of actual transfers 2) The players don't see us being relegation candidates
  11. Bring in Scully and Pogba for Cerny and Doohlan - can't have players thinking they're automatic picks just because they sign long deals
  12. And he's now been renamed Stevo Ayr.....guaranteed last post from me on an ex-player. http://www.ayrunitedfc.co.uk/stevo-ayr-to-stay/?
  13. The dreaded 'vote of confidence from the board'. They play Hearts on Saturday, so it's difficult to see anything other than another tanking. There's only another week of the transfer window left, so if they're going to get rid of him it doesn't leave a lot of time to get someone in who can also get new players in.
  14. Unsurprisingly.... http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/partick_thistle/14217115.Stevenson_leaves_Partick_Thistle_by_mutual_consent/?
  15. Aye, against a team in the same division as us if we'd kept him - like Albion Rovers
  16. As it's the 19th January today, I'm assuming Stevo is back from his less-than-stellar loan spell at Ayr.....
  17. Going by the last few games, I can see us drawing this one. However, our recent form points to us winning games that we would have drawn, so I'm cautiously optimistic.....
  18. Anybody see him at tonight's game? Just to add, I think he'd have done quite well tonight - could have done with someone delivering the killer pass, which I think Stevo us well capable of doing.
  19. All of the above.Thought Amoo had a great game but we allowed St Mirren to close us down too easily. Bit tippy-tippy and McCall like (© Watson Towers) when we should have been more direct. Still, who's going to argue with the next round and two goals from corners?
  20. This is the bit that really p*sses me off. For all of us on here, the dream of running out in the red and yella is (pace the marvellous Firhill Cup) just that - a dream. However, footballers have to be a lot more cold-blooded/career-minded than that - their career is relatively short, and at our level the wages, signing on fees and other perks probably won't sustain family life for very long once they disappear. In that sense, they have to maximise any benefit they can get - and if that means going to Motherwell, Accrington Stanley or whoever to get an extra £100 a week, then that's what they'll do. I'd also like know the role of agents in all this. How are we sold (or not) to players by their agents? I don't know how attractive 'they don't pay much but you will get paid' is compared to 'have £2k a week but oops we could go into administration '. What is it they (agents or players) don't see in us. I would say we're quite a good career option for younger players - regular first team football and decent exposure on TV. Which gets us back to where we started - do well and you can move to, maybe not a bigger club, but a better paying contract.....
  21. Are they maybe training on the Astro at Lesser Hampden during the winter? I think the Science Park is grass - may even be unusable at the moment due to all the rain recently.
  22. There's quite a funny Pie and Bovril thread on the subject of celebrity fans if you put 'Laura Kuenssberg jags fan' into Google - page 2 is good for the Killie fan who mentions that Rolf Harris is a fan. Might want to keep that one quiet....
