Celtic and Rangers have won the league for the last 30 years. Atletico Madrid won La Liga two years ago.

From the OS tonight: Thistle and Kilmarnock share six goals in what was a very entertaining spectacle here at Rugby Park. A pair of Kevin Nisbet penalties added to a first half goal from 15 year old Edin Lynch gave Thistle a more than merited point, and a first draw in the Development League this season. A special mention must go to Edin Lynch who, at only 15 years old handled the threat of Kris Boyd very well indeed. Young Edin sounds a bit useful.

The moment Rangers went out of business the authorities bent over backwards to strive to get a team playing in blue at Ibrox back into the top league asap. For one reason only. To sell 4 matches against Celtic to the tv companies. That is the reason for the league structure. That is the extent of the planning for the future. That is the financial plan in full. To hell with everybody else. Not long to wait now. Next season Scottish football will have what it 'needs'.

Once you abandon the basic principle that every team in the league plays every other team in the league home and away an equal number of times, I'm sure there any many means of creating excitement right up to the end of the season. But without that basic principle, there is no integrity.

As long as one or, if you read this in nine months time, two teams have vastly more resources than anybody else, the entire league is pointless from day 1.

Perhaps it's a shame that Stevenson came on. The sight of Stevie Lawless in goal might have provided some much needed light relief.
