  1. Those look like Kenny Arthur goalies gloves Seems daft the lad going back to Celtic, he's obviously made a lot of progress since they released him, so why go back? The fact he is a Celtic fan shouldn't matter, and considering how well some young players from Hamilton have done in recent years, you'd think he have the sense to stay put for a while before going to a bigger club.
  2. Any time I listen to Derek Adams after a game the same questions come to mind. Do the Ross County fans think he's as much a walloper as the rest of us? Does he ever have a balanced view on anything? Why is he so full of shit?
  3. Well done to all the team, that's more like it! Great to get the win their play deserved. Now keep it up by beating County and turning Firhill into a fortress until the end of the season.
  4. Pity it didn't work out for Forbes, as he's clearly a talented player. However, there is clearly something amiss from his game as he's went from a promising player at Motherwell to part-time football (probably in the Championship this season?), and while he's not exactly had a lot of opportunity to impress for us this season, he needs to do something to work on his game if he's going to carve out a good career in full-time football. Best of luck to him, some good memories from last season, but the young guy we've signed on load from West Ham sounds like far more the kind of player we need right now.
  5. Great news. Yes there are questions about how well Erskine can do in the Premier League, but even those who aren't huge fans of his know that on his day, he does have some talent. We don't expect him to be brilliant, but if he can try to link the midfield and attack, pop up with the odd bit of Erskine magic, and grow his confidence at this level, then he will do a job for us. Welcome home Chris.
  6. Well said Lambies Lost Doo. The current deal is far from perfect, and buying stuff away from matchdays isn't much cop, but the fact is, the deal with Greaves was a special one and that kind of city centre placement and promotion isn't likely to happen again. We're pretty much plankton in a big fish pond, the numbers don't add up so the club have just got to do what they can, with limited options. Maybe they could do better, but just because we are in the top league with a little bit of money (instead of having next to nothing), doesn't suddenly turn the club into a hugely professional outfit with tons of interest in selling our kit, advertising, hospitality etc. We're still just of limited interest. The fact that fans at times feel a bit shabbily treated is nothing new, doubt its ever going to change. That said potty trained's initial response to the OP who'd had a bad experience wasn't exactly helpful.... fair enough if you want to point out that the set-up isn't quite that bad, but questioning just about every statement, really set the tone for this thread. Daft arguments over nothing much at all.
  7. Ross County boss Derek Adams angry at Jim Goodwin 'immunity' Adams said: "I think a lot of people are flabbergasted to think a player can commit so many fouls and get away with it. It was a handball this week. It was a handball last week against Partick Thistle. I've not got blinkers on, it was plain to see."
  8. True re Forbes today but I think today has been the exception. The thing is too with guys like Forbes and Lawless not starting, Craigen, Bannigan and Higginbotham are the three guys they are currently up against for a place in the team. Craigen is the guy who is profiting from Lawless dropping to the bench, and while he's not as creative, he does provide plenty of pace and drive from midfield. On his day Lawless is better, but he's not in form.
  9. As you've just proven with your examples of every other player still featuring, that 'football politics' have nothing to do with why Lawless been dropped. He's in poor form, immaterial of whether it's down to carrying an injury or not, so he's been dropped. Forbes has more reason to complain about not getting a game than Lawless because at least when he's come on as a sub he's looked dangerous. Lawless will get his chance again, and when he does it's up to him to step up to the mark and take it by playing a fair bit better than he has up to now. Then he might earn the new contract that he's seemingly after elsewhere..... in the meantime, do a job for Thistle and he'll continue to get the support of the fans and we'll be sorry to see him go if and when he does leave.
  10. Best wishes on a speedy recovery Brian.
  11. Yeah, well done Chris. Hope he goes on to do ok for Dundee United, but no more than that! It would've been great to see what he could have done as a Jags player in the SPL, I think he'd have done well and there's very little chance of him doing as well as a bit-part player at United. But that was his choice. Besides, if he plays well against us, or *shudder* scores against us at any point, he'll be nothing but a complete barsteward.
  12. The article on the BBC does however give the following quote from Archie "At the moment, I don't think we really need another striker. We just need goals from all over the pitch to help out. But we are looking because if something happens to the two out-and-out strikers we have, then we will have a problem."
  13. Combine both of these, and we might get a result.
  14. Cheers EAJ. Fair to say ICT can feel very hard done by at the corner, sounds like the AR was wrong on a number of counts. Wasn't the disallowed goal in the second half due more to the fact that ICT had been putting a lot of physical pressure on Fox throughout the game? He'd been getting the decisions too, so maybe that wasn't so lucky but more to do with the ref not letting them away with any pressure on the keeper, so he got the decision? Anyway, first real slice luck we've had this season, and very timely it is too given yesterdays results!
  15. Didn't see it but did the ICT player actually move the ball or just touch it with his foot before the AR told Craigen to move away and before Doran then dribbles away with the ball? If the AR is telling Craigen to move, he clearly doesn't believe the ICT player has moved the ball and taken the corner, even if that's the intention of the ICT player?
  16. Can't believe I forgot to list the 2002 party at Love St (I bet Derek Fleming remembers it well)
  17. Best: Celebrating promotion with a 0-0 at home to Forfar; Lindau's hat-trick at Stirling and more party time; the sheer relief of Peterhead; Paterson's goal to win the cup replay v Inverness; Andy Gibson's cup replay winner v Dundee; Shaw scoring twice to win at Parkhead; and Gerry Britton scoring to round off a 3-0 win over Rangers at Firhill. Worst: The sheer pain of the Dundee United Playoff misery is only beaten by the utter depression felt in the early days of Save the Jags.
  18. If the club aren't going to bother about Celtic fans buying tickets for Thistle areas of the ground, bully for your two Celtic mates. It's always been the case that some visiting fans end up in the home end when we play the Old Firm, it's nothing new. All any Thistle fan going to the game just needs to do is make sure that if they have any bother with Celtic fans, report them to the stewards and get them thrown out. If they behave themselves, then there doesn't need to be any problem and the club have maximised their income from the game. The only issue is with Thistle fans being moved from the North Stand. Not sure those in the North Stand will agree but I see no problem with being asked to move for two games of the season, as long as it's made clear right from the start of the season. But what they should have done is asked everyone to use the JH Stand and housed the away support in the Main Stand and the North Stand. The way they've split it is only going to cause segregation problems.
  19. I think this is spot on. Don't really see how having two defensive midfielders is a problem, it's more about getting the balance right in front of them. We need something more from the central attacking player.
  20. This for me too. Bannigan and particularly Lawless were almost passengers v Hibs, and at least with Forbes in the team that will solve the problem of terrible corners. Forbes' delivery in the 2 or 3 he took caused more problems than Higgy's had all night. While nice to watch, we're generally far too pedestrian and predictable, which makes it easy for teams to defend against us. It'd be nice if we could have a good enough attacking midfielder to play through the middle and try and create something from there instead of having to always rely on SOD & ATS - but lets face it, at our level, the football we are playing is probably about as good as its going to get. I'd hoped Lawless would be that player this season, but he's struggling a bit against the better players at this level. Still think he's good enough to come good, but we're really missing the creativity he can provide right now. Still can't believe that poor effort from Doolan when he was clean through. After he'd squandered that the outcome was ominous.
  21. Today clearly shows that Doolan is by far the better option than Baird to start. I'd be interested to see if Welsh and Osbourne can create some kind of partnership in the midfield, or could Welsh play slightly further forward and partner Bannigan with Osbourne? Forbes must be due a chance to start a game sometime too though. St Johnstone are not pish, they're a better team than Kilmarnock.
  22. Hope now that you've contacted In Maxwell that it gets sorted for you Les. Fully aware that its an issue with a certain steward, just trying to make the point that it shouldn't put you off the stewards in general as part of their job is health & safety and they should be the guys to help you if you ever needed it (emergency evac, illness etc).
  23. Cool, that sounds perfectly reasonable. Just take your ST holding son through the PATG tunstyles with you. Let's hope last weeks gremlins are sorted. Only issue now is to find an available seat. I presume the number of ST holders choosing to sit in the North Stand is the explanation for all the empty season ticket stickered seats in the JH Stand?
  24. For Health & Safety, emergency evacuation, it is down to the stewards though, acting on behalf of the club. That is exactly what they are there for. Don't let the problem with one steward colour your perception of the stewards actual job. From what you've said, none of that has anything to do with why this steward is giving you grief though. An email to Ian Maxwell just to let him know of the issue and a letter of complaint to whoever it is who is providing the stewards at Firhill (do you know the name or number of the guy who has hassling you?), and that should be enough to sort it. Good luck!
  25. Might be worth sending an email to the club to query that one. There was a very clear message that one set of gates was for season ticket holders, and those paying at the gate were to use the gates at the far end. Not sure if the turnstyles are programmed to accept specific tickets only or can accept both and they've just split it this way so they can monitor any problems in the early stages?
