  1. That was really bad Not sure how much of it was down to us being very poor or Aberdeen getting their tactics spot on and making us play badly. Either way, full credit to Aberdeen, they didn't give us a minute on the ball and closed us down at every opportunity. They weren't that great, but sadly, they didn't need to be and could have won by more. Only players to get pass marks were Higginbotham and Fox. The rest were pretty anonymous, and continually out-muscled and pushed off the ball. Lawless and Baird looked soooo lightweight today. Got to bounce back with a far better display against Killie next week.
  2. Good point, and probably something that wasn't thought of considering the "Aberdeen fans milling about trying to find where they hand over their money" and the "nothing is open and it's like a ghost stadium". The ground probably does appear like a ghost stadium until about 12pm, you have to know where the office is and that you need to press the buzzer to get access. Fair enough it's probably an easy mistake to make, it's not really that obvious.
  3. I saw him a few weeks ago on Gt Western Road dressed rather smartly in a suit. Does that mean he's returning to Firhill as our new Communications & Marketing Support Manager?
  4. I think this is a really good point about how we play, and while we will have frustrating games where we play like yesterday but don't score, we just have to accept that. I don't buy the Craig argument either. I dunno, he may well be a better finisher than Doolan, but he's far slower and nowhere near as mobile. Of course someone who is mobile, quick and lethal in front of goal might make us a far better side. But it's not like we can go out and buy someone to fill this role. We have to either make do with players that are available for free young guys on loan or at best promising youngsters from lower leagues. Plenty of far bigger and richer clubs than us struggle to find prolific goalscorers.
  5. Deadline is 31 Aug, it's just that the SFA still view Saturday as a working day, whereas the English FA don't, so they requested an extension to the end of the next working day, which is Monday. For all the talk of needing a new striker, it's clear from his comments that Archie was trying to get someone in, it's just not happened. So as we are for the next few months, and in the meantime I'm sure Archie will be continuing his efforts so that, if needed, he can get someone in during the January window.
  6. Doesn't sound like we'll be getting another striker in from Archie's comments after the game. When asked about the possibility of adding more punch up front he said: "I think it'll be a struggle (to get another striker), and I think we know that. But it was pleasing today to get goals from other areas of the pitch, and I said that last week as well, it's not just about the strikers. The formation we play the strikers sometimes come out of the area and someone else has to go in and take up that space. Whether we get someone in or not I don't know but I think the boys are up for the challenge of getting goals from other areas of the pitch and not just the strikers."
  7. Could have been worse than 1-0, and what do you expect if the team only play for half the game? Credit has to go to them for coming close to snatching a draw with the way they played in the second half. Need to do much better against St Mirren next week though, they are one of the teams we must finish above if possible.
  8. Agggh, you are a complete and utter barsteward!
  9. Only one thing missing from that, the option to pick up your ticket at the Aberdeen game.....
  10. AW, might have went to this game too but unlikely to have the time or inclination to go up to Firhill for a ticket. Guess I'll be giving it a miss, so St Mirren's loss.
  11. Agreed LE, except the first sentence, which you quite rightly didn't include in your quote. Spot on though, it IS ridiculous we are this good. Despite him being a wee nyaff, we've got plenty to thank McNamara for, and even more grateful he buggered off and let Archie improve the bunch of inexperienced SPL rejects, youths and lower league signings that are currently doing us all proud.
  12. Foul 2 - The 2nd Hearts then player comes in to challenge him and catches the leg he's about to kick the ball with and that knocks Fraser off his fee and the ball goes free: The referee is well positioned so can't understand why he didn't give a foul? Then of course because Fraser is hobbling recovering from that challenge he's then unable to close Walker down, which is what gives him the room to drive forward and then admittedly beat Balatoni with ease. That apart, great performance from the players, they might be a little disappointed not to have won, but they played well for the third match in a row, and they will get their rewards if they keep it up.
  13. Watching the BBC highlights confirmed something I thought at the time, for all the Hearts goal was a terrific bit of play and a fine finish, I though Fraser was very unlucky not to have been given a foul when he lost possession. The commentator mentions Fraser "runs into trouble", but that's because - Foul1: the no15 had a grab at him as he stepped away from him:
  14. Don't understand this thread at all. I read it before I started on the Just In thread and expected to find it full of moans. But I struggled to find anyone having a moan? There's a few disappointed posts because it was two points dropped from a game we were the far better team in, maybe a couple of people saying they reckon Hearts are a poor team (but that's a pretty common view of Hearts this season and no wonder considering their finances), but for the most part it's full of chat about how well we played, isn't it great how far we've come, feels like a defeat to draw because we were all over them, we were immense in the first half.
  15. Excellent news! I feared he'd hold off to see what else would be available, nice one. Despite apparently being a torn-faced party pooper, I think I will explode with happiness if we beat Hearts on Friday and either Sinclair or Lawless also sign new contracts.
  16. Dunno. Looks more like you and yoda, I'm a torn faced party pooper after all, wouldn't be wandering about with a gormless grin like that guy
  17. That's really dreadful to watch. Clearly up against far better players, but that game won't have done any of the players any good. It looks like men against boys, and this is against the England team that just recently failed to win a single game at the Euro Finals (though to be fair they did only lose one game on the way to qualifying for the finals). Awful performance from the young Scots.
  18. Cliched crap, but then that's the kind of thing you get from tabloids. Dumb it down, compare it to working the benefits system so even the daftest no-hopers can read it and relate to it. Everyone else can just have a laugh/admire (depending on their viewpoint) at how Thistle are doing it on the cheap. Besides, its based on nonsense. Apart from Celtic, how many clubs paid out cash to sign players this summer? Off-hand I can think of Hibs signing Collins, so where is the story in Thistle signing players for free or on loan when just about every club in Scotland is skint and pretty much do the same thing?
  19. If you think telling someone to calm down is moaning, then aye go and bang your head against a brick wall, cos you've got a hard life in front of you. Hardly yoda like mate! We've got a brilliant squad of players, the best most of us have probably ever seen at Firhill, and not only that, they play good football, and are being managed by a Jags legend. We might end up losing a couple of our better players for nowt, but we've got a good number of players signed up for longer and won't lose them without at least getting some cash. What is not to love and get excited about? But still, we've only played 2 games, calm doon! potty, no idea what that picture is supposed to say about my post, not sure which diddy in it you think is me, but it is very funny.
  20. FFS Can we give it a rest already with talk of PotY, we've played 2 games. The transfer window isn't even closed yet. Enjoy the start we've made, dream a little if you want but no wonder football fans get labelled fickle. At the end of September last year after 8 games St Mirren were 4th in the table and finished second bottom. Dundee Utd and Ross County were 10th & 11th but finished in the top six. Two games, and we were a bit fortunate not to get taken to extra time by a part-time team two leagues below us in the cup. Calm the **** down!
  21. Despite how good some people think Erskine is, it was only really last season that the doubters were silenced, he'd always had as many people unsure of him or booing him as he did people who rated him. He is definitely a bit hit and miss but he's improved a hell of a lot in the time he was at Firhill. But, it remains to be seen if he can do it at a higher level.
  22. Use the link to the proxy server http://www.usa-proxy.org/index.php and copy the link from Camjag's post into it and all will be revealed
  23. Just sneaked online while at work to check the score, almost fell of my seat when I saw it was 3-0! Now that County have pulled one back, hope we can hold on and ease to a 3-1 win. From my quick look at the ptfc commentary page, sounds like we are well worth it?
  24. Huddersfield were a League One side when he signed for them and he hasn't featured in a single game for them in the Championship (although he did play a handful of games on loan at Barnsley). Last season he was loaned out to Carlisle in League One and he ended up losing his place in their team to one of their youth players and got sent back early from his loan spell. So I think that's fair to say he didn't make it in League One. The new manager did give him a chance in pre-season this summer, but the fact the only friendlies he started were as an overage player in their development side says it all. To be fair, they are now firmly a Championship side and and when you look at the attacking players they've signed this summer in Adam Hammill, Jon Stead and James Vaughan (all with Premiership experience), you can understand why they decided just to let him go. Fair enough point on starting him over Craigan to help us be more creative, but can't really see him being thrown straight into the starting line-up when he barely knows the players.
