  1. Statements on official Dunfermline home page are brutal to say the least. Can't believe they even put the one from Jeffries up on Thursday, given Masterton was trying to put a positive spin on things vis BBC just a couple of days earlier. The one from Jeffries and McMillan today aren't really any more positive. I was going to say they were brutally honest, but there's very little detail about the true plight/situation at the club, so I don't think honesty really comes into it. Anyway, they are beatable - we've got a full week off after this game and should be looking to head to our next home game on the back of a fine win. Mon the Jags - time we started to put a bit of pressure on Morton.
  2. When Jackie left, I think we lost more than a manager. He seemed to be generally well thought of in the game and I assume his contacts enabled us to sign the players we got on loan, encouraged the players we signed to sign on or extend, and I also assume he was involved in bringing the Celtic futures squad games and the revenue from that to Firhill. I am in a quandary just now - I hope that Archie will be able to win a league and cup double, but I'm not so sure that he'll be able to take the team into the SPL and not 'do a Dundee'. Archie is a legend at Thistle as a player, but I can't see him being able to convince many of our out of contract players to stay or him being a 'pull' for any players we are interested in. I just don't think he's ready yet. For me, if we were able to get Evans AND Collins in, it would in some way help to start replacing Jackie - good football on the park, with an emphasis on youth development and good contacts off it. I can't see too many situations that would rival it it terms of the potential for success. It pains me to say it, but I think it's only a matter of when, not if, we sh!t on Archie and Shaggy. Would Archie go back to his previous role(s) and what was Shaggys relationship with Evans and Collins? Could there still be a role for him?
  3. I find it hard to be 100% convinced I'm actually entered into it, given who was running the thing at the time, but hey ho - I didn't join for a guaranteed £250 every month. I'd be irrationally delighted with a signed ball.
  4. It should also be noted that the can collection is NOT limited to Irn Bru/Irn Bru sugar free, but includes ALL Barrs cans. From the Irn-Bru site - 'Drop your cans off at one of the drops and get all your pals to do the same. Every can collected will nudge your club that wee bit nearer to being top of the League. And to show how nice we are, we’ll accept other Barr’s cans too. (We do after all make the best ginger.) Can we make this clear to everyone, and we'll hopefully be top of two leagues come the season's end.
  5. Think it might be the first urinal made of brick that I have ever seen - didn't remember that from the last time. I genuinely would not have known where I was supposed to piss if the place didn't have so many people in it who had already worked it out, so to speak.
  6. Did we not sign him for a year with the option of extending for a further year? How, who, or what kicks in the extension, I don't know
  7. Sure you'll be about half way up (down!?) the stand behind the goal, so should be fine. I'm Row O which is the back row in the same stand. Got offered singing section (but declined due to neutral companions), so there's still room there for any who want a ticket. Sure i'm pretty close to them though.
  8. It's not just wishful thinking, but is there really any point in Morton getting their stadium up to scratch for a trip to the SPL when their crowds are so dismal. Sure I read that it would (only!) cost 200k to do the necessary work to Cappielow, but even when the team are winning the fans don't seem to turn up in numbers. I know today was away, but given I wouldn't be surprised if we alone took double today's attendance to Greenock next week, is there really any business sense in this? They've obviously built a team to challenge so who knows. Is their business plan built on the away support at Cappielow? Even the radio scotland 'open-all-mikes' commentator was surprised at the poor crowd today.
  9. If there's any positive to take it's at least we are getting this game out the way while the pitch is just starting to deteriorate. It's our last trip to Starks this season and most teams are still to pay them a visit, including Dunfermline, Morton and Livi. The pitch is only going to get worse. Hopefully the fact we've got a new management team to impress will pull us over the line on this one. 3 points would set up our trip to Cappielow nicely, especially if Airdrie can take anything against Morton.
  10. Bannigan starts - O'Donnell on bench. Good luck to them both.
  11. Only watched the highlights, but thought it a bit hypocritical that Green went along.
  12. It's easy to slag him now he's gone, but I cannot imagine how he could ever sound passionate or enthusiastic about anything - he is pretty dull to listen to. Fcuk knows how he managed to get sent to the stand twice. Must have been doing something right though.
  13. For European Experience, i'd guess Calderwood. If we could guess 25/35 names (according to Maxi) i'm pretty sure he'll be one of them. Hope we've been open with Shaggy and we're not going to fcuk him around.
  14. This. Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, we'll do in in typical Thistle fashion.
  15. Although I dont think his call up to Scotland U21 squad is unmerited, it's the part i've selected that made the timing of it surprising to me.
  16. Might see if I can head along to this now for some group therapy.
  17. Yeah - i'd have thought we were waaaaaaaaaay past that stage. Guess they can't announce Dundee Utd's next manager before Dundee Utd do, even if it is all over the media.
  18. Anybody able to confirm the ages for concessions? In the original ticket price article it has 60+ as being eligible - http://ptfc.co.uk/news/2012-2013/november_2012/ramsdens_cup_final_ticket_prices In today's article it has it as 65+ I know Firhill is 65+ but we won't have set the final prices/categories.
  19. I'm not getting the McCall love in - It felt to me at the time that everything at the club was beginning to stagnate. I can only speculate but I don't think we'd be in as strong a position either on the park or off it, if he was in his position for any longer than he was. As I said earlier, this only got worse after he'd spoken to Dundee. Fcuk sake - remember Lovell being offered repeated contracts and it being a big thing to go two games unbeaten! I see him pretty regularly around the west end and more often than not he's still got his Thistle tracksuit on. He was behind me in traffic one day and was giving it the thumbs up etc. at my Thistle window sticker. It is a shame because we've obviously got some place in his heart, but I really think it would be a massive step backwards to have him involved again.
  20. As long as, if he stays, everthing continues to develop at Thistle as it has been. Something changed with McCall after he spoke to and missed out on the Dundee job, and it wasn't for the better.
  21. Think i'd actually prefer somebody outwith SFL1 to get this job. Any of our players not currently on the radar of Utd. are unlikely to interest them soon unless somebody who has seen them play and impressed, is in charge. If Pressly gets the job I can see him being interested in a couple of the players we think would be able to make the step up.
  22. Enjoyed the chanting of 'Dundee's a sh!tehole' on Saturday. Hope Jackie took our advice.
  23. People have started talking about something they are calling 'the interweb' or something like that. Not sure what it is yet, but it sounds like a load of crap to me. P.S. Buy a programme!!
