It seems that budgeting challenges are not a new thing for Partick Thistle. This has been the case for 130 years. The following is copied and pasted from the 1890s section of the excellent Thistle Archive article on Thistle-linked internationalists:
"Thistle struggled to budget for salaries in the top-flight years."
I will be there, but I can fully understand why many Thistle and Morton fans who would normally attend on a Saturday will not be there. I would echo comments above that this seems to be an illogical decision from the point of view of both convenience and finance.
Was this a "free decision" for the clubs to take for themselves or were they subject to control from the SPFL as regards the timing of the rearranged fixture?
Playing brilliantly. Totally on top. Missed the proverbial barrow load of chances. Combination of great goalkeeping, bad luck and poor finishing. QP have been much more efficient with the few chances they have had.
You are reversing the narrative. Usually we have a thread about something else, and people talk about tranches. Now we have a thread about tranches, and you are taking about something else!
Quite enjoying it actually.
The return of the Football Committee! I wondered when it would come back into the conversation.
Hopefully its membership and the contents of its deliberations will be tidied up in the last episode of Shedland due out in a couple of weeks' time.
I am thinking Lord of the Rings:
The Foundation of the Fellowship
The Two Tranches
The Return to the Premier
Then again this thread is more reminiscent of the Hobbit:
There and back again
In the same season that the women’s teams of both Hearts and Hibs have taken a step forward to challenge nearer the top of the table, their respective men’s teams have struggled at the bottom end of their league.
Not sure if any useful point can be drawn from the above or whether it is just a random happening.
Decided to invest £24 in Partick Thistle yesterday. I was looking for 71 D Class shares redeemable when Thistle win the Champions League, title to a square centimetre of the bing and a seat on the board. Instead I was palmed off with a couple of calendars. Fan ownership remains undiluted.
