  1. All the games are being played simultaneously on Friday evening. I think the team quoted in the opening post looks reasonable enough. We have to rest Graham, Fitzpatrick, Robinson, McMillan and Muirhead, the first 4 because they are practically irreplaceable and their fitness and freshness will be vital for the play offs, and Muirhead because he has been carrying an injury. My only 2 exceptions: Stewart is so dreadful that Mitchell has to play. There is hopefully a fairly small risk of a goalkeeper being injured. Milne may need some game time after missing out last week. Ngwenya can shift to right back. McKenzie can move further forward and displace Loney. If all goes well, Loney and other younger players can make debuts in the second half. PS Maybe Neilson is needed to add some steel to the midfield. Playing Alston, Bannigan and McInroy seems rather lightweight.
  2. Have to confess to being away on holiday and not at the match. I was relying on the BBC website, which I realise is not a smart move. Relieved that they still won in the end!
  3. Agreed. That is a brilliant result (3-1 win over Hibs for any without immediate access to that information).
  4. I think I mean that the probability of Kyle staying with Thistle would have been greater than the possibility of his leaving Partick Thistle. In other words there would have been a rebuttable presumption that Kyle would have stayed with Thistle.
  5. 51% would have been a more accurate weighing of the balance of probabilities.
  6. I'll take that. All that is left is for me to work out a way to get them both disqualified.
  7. Women's Final A for Hearts Men's Final as there is no underdog I am going for Option X-both teams disqualified and cup not awarded. I have just invented a competition rule that Option X is rewarded with treble points (ie the contestant's whole score is trebled).
  8. The most interesting part of the afternoon was a half-time conversation with a Frenchman, part of a party of around ten over in Scotland for some sort of celebration, possibly a wedding? They were staying in Edimbourg, but were keen for some football, and having heard of Partick Thistle, were eager to see us in action. They enjoyed the atmosphere in the John Lambie, and loved Kingsley. With help from Auld Jag's fluent French, I hope that I managed to explain the following: Partick is 3 miles from Maryhill. If you want to describe our team in one word, it is "Thistle", not "Partick". Games with Ayr are normally entertaining and high scoring. The Premier League play-off system. I think he got it!? That for people with intelligence, character and independent spirit, Thistle are the only football team in Glasgow worth supporting. Sadly I had to concede that yesterday was pauvre fare. I do not think that they will be abandoning their support of Olympique Marseille to be travelling over to Firhill on a regular basis.
  9. Yes, at that point O'Reilly was rushed into readiness to come on. However, it would seem that the urgency dissipated, as O'Reilly was stood down and sent for a few more runs before coming on 5 minutes later. So there was perhaps an element of precaution, but not undue concern.
  10. Cannot think of anything to argue with anyone about. As I walked up the road after the game, I reflected that I had not shouted at the referee as much as I normally do and that he indeed did all he could to let the game flow without inserting himself unnecessarily into the action. Good to see that others also recognised a sensible refereeing performance. Not much else to say. I am sure that we can take it up a level in the play offs. I hope that Aero’s injury was not too serious. However we do at least have decent back up in O’Reilly.
  11. You are right. I did my calculation before Ricco Diack scored!
  12. Airdrie & Dundee Utd draw. Win tomorrow clinches 3rd place for us. Draw would take us to the brink, being 3 points and 8 goals to the good.
  13. I am going for a 3-4-2-1 Mitchell McBeth Muirhead O'Reilly McMillan McInroy Neilson Ngwenya Robinson Fitzpatrick Graham
  14. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/emma-lawton-signs-for-24-25/ This is great signing news. In SWPFL team of the year, coming to the attention of other clubs, in Scotland under 23 squad, and yet sees Thistle as the best option for future development.
  15. I think what you are saying here, with one eye on the opening poster, is that this may come back to haunt us.
