  1. Whether I think it is or not is completely irrelevant. The legal system says it was, and that's what matters. He broke the law, and was handed what they viewed as an appropriate punishment for that breach of the law. He's now served that punishment, I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to just get on with his life now, and if Sheffield United think he can go a good job for them then they should employ him.
  2. Agree with you re robins. I was at that game, and they were utterly hopeless. The general consensus amongst the town support seems to be that it's the right decision to sack him, but that it should have been done before the summer to allow the new manager to get his own squad in.
  3. No one. If we were to add depth it would be just that, depth. Options off the bench to start with I'd imagine and then they'd get their chance in the case of injuries or suspensions, or when performances do drop. But initially at least, there would be no need to drop anyone. ETA: I actually thought Stevenson was good on Wednesday, as his role clearly wasn't that of a conventional striker. Granted he was blowing out his arse by the end, but I thought that his dropping deeper actually brought other players into play very well and the county defence really didn't know how to handle it. Almost playing a false 9 role, by drawing the defenders onto him thus creating space for higgy and lawless to work with. Look at the 3rd goal for example, his dropping deep has brought the county defender to him and left acres of space for lawless and Elliott to run in behind, and his flick to lawless was sublime. It may not work against better, more organised defences but I thought it was a good display from him, just not one that we'd expect our line striker to play.
  4. Personally, and I know people will probably disagree with this, but had ched Evans been a thistle player before he was inprisoned, then I'd have no issue with taking him back. As long as he's willing to knuckle down and just get on with his football I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to. As far as the law is concerned, he has served his punishment for the crime he committed, and it was a disgusting crime, but these attempts to continue punishing him once he's already completed his sentence reek of vigilantism to me.
  5. Obviously I've never seen him play so can't really make a fair judgement on his ability, but he seems to have been not good enough for a mid table league 2 port vale side a couple of seasons ago. Again, haven't seen him but a 25 year old who's spent almost his entire career playing non-league football doesn't sound like a good signing on paper.
  6. Higgy's looked like the classic case of expecting contact and starting to go down but then it just never came. Disappointing, but I don't think I've seen him dive before and hopefully he won't be doing it again.
  7. "If James McPake isn't very good then why has Paul Hartley signed him?"
  8. Looked very vocal with the rest of the defence, and also on at least one occasion with fox which was good to see. Comfortable on the ball and seemed to want to play out of defence when he could which fits in with our style. Other than the one where he tried to let it go out and got caught and am occasional lack of communication, which is to be fully expected, I thought he had a solid debut although he wasn't tested hugely. Hopefully he can continue like that on Saturday.
  9. The song is embarrassing, utter shite and obviously in very poor taste. But I really don't see how it's possibly sectarian?
  10. Alex ferguson signed Eric Djemba-Djemba. The argument that because a manager signed someone they can't be shite is utterly ludicrous.

  12. Id be surprised if we don't see a fair amount of Chris duggan as well this season. Possibly david Wilson too, although we seem to have plenty of central midfielders
  13. Gallacher; McMillan, balatoni, seaborne, bannigan; Fraser, osman; Elliott, Stevenson, higgy; doolan. Subs. Fox, muirhead, o'donnell, lawless, Craigen, Mcdaid, duggan. Play our normal game, only defend competently. We need to make sure we're switched on in defence, hopefully seaborne will help in this regard along with gallacher and McMillan. Osman should also be a huge help to the defence. We need to get the ball wide to higgy or Elliott and run at the defence with the full backs bombing on as we usually do and if we give doolan a chance he usually takes them. Expect lawless to come on for Stevenson and duggan to get the last 20. Possibly Mcdaid for Elliott as well.
  14. Seaborne's injury was the result of getting the shit kicked out of him in a nightclub, and nothing to do with being injury prone. Both mcpake and seaborne have played in the championship in England, so at the exact same level. McPake is Northern Irish, so it's clearly far easier for him to gain international recognition than seaborne so that argument is clearly nonsense. Even with that, it was one match in a friendly. So, explain again how mcpake is better on paper than seaborne?
  15. Seaborne is an unknown quantity, and it's only natural to get excited about a signing who on paper looks good and is billed by the manager as being better than what we have. McPake on the other hand is an injury prone calamity of a footballer. This is why people get excited by our signing of seaborne and dismiss mcpake as shite.
  16. I don't think anyone has suggested that he'll be played as a left back, or that he should be. Just that it's good that he can also play there if we needed him to.
  17. I think everyone feels a little bit more confident when gallacher is in goals. Going on last season, gallacher would be the better option but I suppose fox deserves another chance and if he can regain his form from the start of last season then I'll be fine with that. I think fox will start the season as number 1 for the record.
  18. Seaborne was at a club until Friday when he negotiated a mutual release with Coventry. I'd imagine he'd agreed with them that if he found a club then he could go for nothing, and when we came in for him then this was triggered.
  19. ******* hell, are some people actually bothered by that one paragraph on the OS? Jesus Christ. Looks a good signing, Coventry fans seemed split on him but not being good enough for them doesn't necessarily mean he won't be good enough for us. He was part of the Southampton team that got promoted from league 1 a few seasons ago so clearly he can cut it at that level, and hopefully improve our squad. And he has a nice beard.
  20. We only had 2 home league games with a crowd of under 3000 last season, Boxing Day against Inverness caley and the re-arranged midweek game with St Johnstone. 15 of our home games saw over 4000 in attendance. I'd say it's likely that we'll break 3000 on Wednesday.
  21. The stuff from Legia seems to me to just be an attempt to shift the blame for it from themselves to Uefa and Celtic, or at the very least distract their fans from how much they messed up. They surely can't actually expect to be reinstated to the champions league or for Celtic to agree to this.
  22. That's been discussed by people before. Basically because the player for Debrecen wasn't banned the rule allows for discretion, whereas the Legia player was banned so it comes under a different rule, which doesn't and states that the game will be declared forfeit.
  23. Nor should they. Or indeed would any club in this position.
  24. Is there any source for us missing out on the guy Archie spoke about on Friday? Cause so far all I've seen of it is someone on this saying it.
