  1. Surprised that Fernando Ricksen hasn't made anyones list - now that guy was a class arse. I also hate Billy McDonald - mainly because of "that" freekick. Drunkan Ferguson was just a knob Kenny Brannigan gets on the list for being the worst player I have seen pull on a Thistle shirt - and that does include the Callaghans
  2. Was just an idea. Although I would envisage having something like a traditional terracing barrier to stop any forward motion from exuberant celebrations. My thought process is that an area like this would mean people wouldn't be bound solely to their seat, and fans would be able to intermingle better thereby improving the atmosphere. Season ticket wise the club used to have season tickets for the enclosure, I spent a couple of seasons in there before getting fed up and sitting on my lazy arse in the main stand, so I suppose you could have a specific standing area season ticket which would be slightly cheaper. The standing area would only be available to those who had bought season tickets for it. Feel free to shoot me down in flames
  3. What would be the views on, and this is only a suggestion, on taking out the seating at the top of the JHS at the bing end to create a sort of small terracing area above and between the two entrance ways? As long as there was a way that would avoid those standing restricting the view of those sitting further down the stand.
  4. Levein wasn't an inspired choice, for me, when he was appointed although my opinion is (very) slowly changing. I think we are beginning to see some improvement in the way Scotland play. Yes he has made mistakes but I believe he is beginning to learn from them. I still don't understand why certain players are not included with the squad. McCormack, Steven Fletcher, Gary O'Conner, Chris Burke (why has he made himself unavailable) to name but a few. These are guys who, while not being world class, are certainly as good as, if not better than what we have got already. Can't Levein sit down with them and sort out his problems with these players? We have the makings of a good side here, I think Levein deserves the next qualification campaign to prove he can do it. If not, that wil be the time to call for his head.
  5. True, but then we've not had a proper youth system until now
  6. I feel that it's this kind of reasoning that has seen the decline of Scottish Football. Youth development is not some kind of instant fix that will work overnight, but it is certainly the way forward. I am convinced that the young guys in this team will have a part to play - they will need to as we have such a small squad. I do agree that there must be a fine balancing act between the teams but still maintain that without proper youth development not just us, but the whole of Scottish Football might as well be consigned to the extinct species list.
  7. According to the Kirkie Herald Rob Roy have made an official approach to Man City to take Tevez on loan Wonder how he would fit in at Adamslie Park
  8. He'll be a good signing for us. Seem to remember him being decent when he linked up with Alex Burns a few years back. ~Or did I just imagine it
  9. Add Falkirk Stadium. Fill in the corners and build a temp stand you could just about take it up to 30k. Same could go for New Douglas Park at a stretch
  10. Super Performance tonight - could have had one more right at the death Fox - Solid all night, although he did have a bit of a flap at a cross early second half Paton - Another solid performance, looked very comfortable most of the time Sinclair - Didn't have a great 1st half going forward. Came out second half and was immense. Archie Balatoni - Great showing from both central defenders. Morton pushed hard at the start of both halves and never really looked like getting the better of them. Very encouraging. O'Donnell - Great finish for the first and made the second. Looked comfortable on the ball and dangerous going forward. Fully deserved MoM Cairney - Brilliant shift and never stopped running. Could have added no 6 right at the end. Rowser - broke play up and put in a really good shift. Passing was horrific all night though giving the ball away more than should be expected Hutton - Looked comfortable throughout the game and fine distribution. Looks like he's going to be a top class player Elliot - Good finish. Never stopped running and intelligent player. Doolan - Again worked really hard all night until subbed. Looked like he sclaffed it for the goal, which turned into a great finish. Eskine - Great finish, looked really up for it when he came on. A bit longer and he could've torn Morton to shreds Stewart - Brilliant finish for the goal, worked hard when came on and looked very dangerous. Great performance all round, although Morton pushed harder than the result suggests. The first 10 or so minutes it looked as if they might tear us apart, but, encouragingly the defence was rock steady and despite Mortons hard work, they never really had a clear effort at goal. On the other hand we looked very dangerous on the counter and, as well as the 2 1st half goals we had at least 2 very good opportunities. 2nd half Morton came out looking for an early goal, and had some heavy pressure for 10 mins or so (including a very offside disallowed goal). After this we began to dominate, Sinclair in particular had a superb 2nd half. 3rd goal finished them off, sending off probably deserved - it looked like it was going to drop at Tommy's feet in the box. After that we saw some superb football all round until the final whistle. Nice big smile on my face. We appear to be heading in the right direction at last
  11. Was his best game in a Thistle Shirt at full back. The previous two games he has looked uncomfortable but I thought everything was pretty solid from him yesterday. Didn't let much get past him and his support play was pretty good
  12. I'm suddenly feeling all optimistic. It's not too early to feel optimistic is it?
  13. Was sitting at section 7 next to the Morton fans yesterday. Basically the stewards were stopping them from using the steps at the end of section 7 at half time. There was tape between the Thistle and Morton support. Morton fans who had been mixing quite happily in the concourse at the top were walking down the steps, only to be told that they would have to go back up to the concourse and down the next set of stairs. From where I was sitting this was an unnecessary over reaction by our stewards - they caused all the problems by a complete lack of common sense which was making quite a number of the Morton fans very unhappy - and quite rightly so. The reply will probably be "we had to do this for health & safety reasons - the police required it etc", if so why were the fans allowed to mix on the concourse? We expect to be treated well and sensibly by stewards at other ground, the same should go for visiting fans to Firhill. A situation was created from nothing by the actions of our stewards and not the actions of the Morton fans. Judging by the conversations at the final whistle there will be a few complaints going in from them - quite right too.
  14. Entertaining game - deserved the win - could even have had a couple more goals if we hadn't tried to walk the ball into the net. The 1st 20 mins or so was appalling but once the game settled down (we actually started passing the ball) we looked the better side Fox - Solid as usual, couple of really good stops - again Bombscare - Was pretty solid today, even got forward a few times Boyle - Not bad, great run for the goal. Defensively was solid Archie - Good in the air, distribution better than it has been Balatoni - Solid again at the back. The defence didn't give much away today and looked pretty comfortable Campbell - had a good game. Showed his pace a few times and wasn't afraid to have a run at the oppo. Got a few half decent crosses in and got in some good positions Cairney - Looking a little fitter, still gets caught in possession though but certainly looked a lot better than the previous two games Stewart - Thought he had a very good game. Good touch, not a bad passer, took some part in a lot of our better moves. Eskine - Brilliant and frustrating all at once. Great finish for the goal, some cracking runs. His choice of pass could be better sometimes though. Good game. Doolan - did a power of work. Not many sights of goal but good link up play, again was pretty solid. Grehan - Got better as the game went on. Great run and pass for Boyles goal. One of our best players today (after the 1st 20 mins or so) Morton didn't really offer anything, even when they were chasing. We looked dangerous on the break Well done Jackie
  15. All me dads fault. The B****** bought me a season ticket for getting good exam results in the early 90's and I've been suffering ever since
  16. Would have been a good motivational technique though
  17. What will get fans back to Firhill? Entertainment - that's what football is all about. If I go along to a match I would rather see us lose 3-2 in a pulsating game than the dross we saw on Saturday.
  18. Dreadfull, dreadfull game. Distribution from the back was horrific, horrifying, horrible, terrible, awful, dreadful, ghastly, hideous, horrendous, frightful, atrocious, abominable, abhorrent, outrageous, gruesome, grisly, monstrous, heinous and egregious. The kick off summed the game up for me - lets get behind the Jags and make some noise. Batter, the ball is immediately kicked out of play from the kickoff. What a way to get the crowd going Kinniburgh scared the bejesus out of me the whole game. Balatoni and Archi weren't winnig a great deal in the air either. Jamie Campbell I thought tried hard. He's a young lad and showed some nice touches, plus a few decent crosses. He showed his inexperience though on occasions by getting caught in possession a few times. I thought he did ok. Cairney was just rank rotten. Rowser wasn't much better, at times his passing is inaccurate at best Erskine looked in the mood but the game was being played over the top of his head so he rarely got a chance on the ball - when he did get it we actually looked as if we might be able to create something. Grehan didn't seem to work as well with Doolan as he has in other games. I like the guy as a player, he has a good touch and passes the ball intelligently. Not his best game though. Doolan I though had a superb attitude and worked his socks off. Fully deserved the MoM. Turning into a pretty good player
  19. I have never been the greatest fan of McCall and his narrow style of play so I am not too concerned to see him go. What the problem for Thistle is now is to get someone better - I don't really believe that we will be able to do that - so better the devil you know. The big plus for McCall - and he deserve much credit for this - is the youth policy he has put in place. If his legacy is that we start to produce our own fine players then he will have had a major positive influence on the club way beyond his tenure as manager. So yes, I'm 50/50
  20. Hey, if Craig Brown can do it at that age there's no reason why Lambie can't. Gie us a couple of seasons Johnny. We need you!
  21. Was on the terracing side of the pitch right on the 18 yd line. As I saw the pen the ball was played across the 18yd box behind the Thistle player who's trailing hand it hit. It's amazing how perceptions are different of the same game. Most of the chances we had were half chances up until the last 15 or so, apart from the ball cleared off the line in the first half. Some I would admit could have been good chances had we been a little sharper. After we equalised there was only going to be one winner, and we could have had at least another two in the last few minutes. Most of this stemmed from when the big No 6 was subbed off for Cowden - they went into panic mode at the back. To be fair Rowser was screaming at the Linesman. I don't see the point in continuing to complain. When a decision is given 99.9% they wont change their mind. Screaming at them is never going to help. As for the timewasting, there was a lot of stoppage time played at the end. I made it over 5 mins
