  1. You are welcome to the 159 words that I got round to writing with a similiar idea in mind. :-) Good luck.
  2. Were that true then I’m not sure that the climatic scene in the film would have had quite the same impact had the dialogue gone something like this: Slave 1: That’s Spartacus over in the corner. Slave 2: Yes, that’s Spartacus just behind the slave with the big ears. Slave 3: No, not him. Spartacus is right behind him. The one typing furiously on his computer. Slave 4: Come on Spartacus stand up and identify yourself. I want my freedom. All Slaves point towards slave with Archie Out T-shirt and in unison shout: That’s Spartacus over there!
  3. With next Saturday our first home game since his passing I would imagine that the Club already has a minute's silence or applause covered. Some additional fan organised tribute would be great. Feel to reflect his personality it should really be something a little irreverent. Not sure what to be honestl,
  4. Actually thought their first appeal might have been a penalty. That said I thought we had a strong case for a penalty for a foul on Lawless who was outstanding today. Edited because I forgot the order of the two appeals. Second was a perfectly timed challenge with no margin of error.,
  5. Thought the support was immense today. The celebrations after the winner right in front of the Thistle fans said a lot about how much everyone was pulling in the same direction. Few random observations. Thought the grass was a tad on the lush side. I did wonder if it had been deliberately left a little longer than normal to try and prevent our passing game; County adopting a more direct approach. If so it didn't work. Didn't think County were any worse or better than they were when they beat us in Dingwall last month. The run they are on ( sorry WERE on) was obviously impressive but I don't think they are an especially good side. Solid and direct at best but slow at the back. We could have scored a few more and eased the nerves a bit but more than delighted with 2-1. Most Thistle fans would have missed it but Taylor was a hoot when being substituted. As the boos increased he simply got slower and his smile got wider. Had it been an opposition player I would have been raging. Just two points now needed to be arthimetically safe assuming Motherwell win their 4 remaining games. Hopefully we can celebrate safety in style with 3 points next Saturday. This side has really grown up and shown increased maturity over the last couple of months. Since the home defeat against County we have been consistently good with some excellent results against good teams.
  6. The Club has subsidised, and offered subsidised, travel to away games previously. First time I can recall was a midweek Scottish cup-tie with Forfar in, I think, 1987. The offer, as I recall, was declined by the then Supporters Federation* as this was a trip that they generally made money on. * It may have come down to the decision of the individual branches. Certainly, there was no subsidised travel on the branch I travelled with.
  7. Not convinced that you have raised the standard any.
  8. I agree with your position re Lyle Taylor being a registered Thistle player therefore a Thistle cap. I'm not so sure about counting friendlies in players' overall Thistle stats though although I'll save that debate for another time. :-) It might be worth having a second look at Quinton Jacobs' stats while a registered Thistle player. I'm sure he won a further cap while still under contract, and therefore registered, with Thistle even though it was clear that he wouldn't be returning to Scotland. A not disimiliar situation to Nicky Walker when he was capped while still a Thistle player.
  9. Can answer the cup game bit of that. When it came to paying the away team's share of the gate a season ticket holder was deemed to have paid whatever the admission price was for that game and the away team were entitled to a share of that 'money' even though none was actually handed over So, if you have a cup-tie that was attended by more season ticket holders than non season ticket holders (not an unlikely scenario for early season cup ties) then you could end up writing a cheque to the away team for a sum larger than you actually received through the gate.
  10. Davie Cooper and Archie MacLean in Molly Stallon's Benefit Match?
  11. But as we don't win two games on the trot the expected would be a defeat or a draw next week therefore if we expect the unexpected we should expect a win! :-)
  12. Alan Archibald! The most obvious future Hall of Fame Inductee out there. Need to wait until the end of his Thistle career though so hopefully not inducted for many years yet.
  13. If Facebook is your things then pop over and have a look at the Partick Thistle Hall of Fame Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Partick-Thistle-Hall-of-Fame/1626833710871071?ref=hl Still a work in progress but you'll get info of the next Dinner there and, of course, www.ptfc.co.uk
  14. George Shaw, Craig Nelson, Isaac English Graeme Robertson, Davie Irons.
  15. I don't know the circumstances or accuracy of the Daily Rancid story but no I don't think we need worry. Although I was worried enough to check the SFA's Anti-Doping Regulations! :-)
  16. Congratulations and keep them coming! :-)
  17. Not if I'm reading section 9 of the SFA's Anti-Doping Regulations correctly. http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/Anti-DopingCharter/Anti-dopingcharter/ANTI-DOPING_REGULATIONS_2013.pdf
  18. I think his ambitions have always ultimately lay in England. Difficult job Peterborough with a volatile chairman. That might be a job to best pass at. I do think though that McNamara will end managing in England and will be successful down there.
  19. Easy to differentiate between the two teams. One was playing some excellent football and dictating the game from midfield. And the other was Dundee United. :-)
  20. Not my favourite George song but worth a like all the same. :-)
  21. Thankfully Erskine had one of his smelly games rather than one of his Pele games. Nice reaction from the Thistle fans when he was substituted.
  22. It's almost impossible to follow your logic and line of thought at times.
  23. Really, you think Lawless' tweet got his place back in the team? Really, you honestly think that? Couldn't care less whether those players tweet or not. It's a tweet. 140 characters of ephemera and nonsense. I hope they will be disappointed not to be playing. Be determined to get their place in the starting eleven back and if they do perform as Lawless did today in an attempt to keep their place.
