  1. Agree. Win on Saturday and then get at least4points from our double header with Ayr should/hopefully have us in a reasonably safe position. Lose on Saturday and I think Caldwell will see just how relevant sitting bottom of the league with 3 games to go is.
  2. Never said I could predict what you would have done in a hypothetical question. I asked if he was an interim manager with 7 defeats out of 10 games would you give him a 2 year contract. I cant be bothered with I said/you said type argument so best to agree to disagree. One thing I think we can agree on is we don't want Thistle to go down yet again this season. Also I would have sacked Archie after Kilmarnock beat us 2-0 at Firhill in October 2017, with their Youth manager in charge. After that game we then went on our best run of the season getting 17points from our next 13 games, which took us up to the winter break. When we came back after the break it all fell apart again. When he could have been sacked after a few terrible games. I said at the time sacking Archie might be the easiest bit, we had to make sure we got the right person in. I don't think we have done that, but I will be delighted if Caldwell keeps us up and then has us challenging next season for promotion.
  3. I have never been a defender of Archie TL. Javeajag said we didn't get here because of Caldwell. That is what I disagree with.
  4. I did not say the squad Archie left him was better than the current one. I said if he was interim manager and lost 7 out of his first 10 games and only got 5 points in that time,he would not have been given the job. But you can't agree, so you would have given him a 2 year contract with that record.
  5. We didn't get here because of Caldwell. I disagree first 10 games 7 defeats, 5 points if he was an interim manager he would never have got the job with those stats. No doubt since January we have improved vastly. But we still find ourselves at the bottom of the league. If we go down it is Caldwells fault.
  6. Caldwell said in a pre match interview and post match interview 'our current league position is irrelevant, it is where we are at the end of the season'. The pre match quote he finished by saying 'we will be much higher at the end of the season'.
  7. Did Caldwell not say in his first month as our manager he wanted the players to feel comfortable in uncomfortable positions. I hope they are not feeling comfortable as we are in a very uncomfortable position now.
  8. Something along the lines of, I know the fans will be anxious, but we do have the players to get us of the bottom of the league. Agree, hope we get a big crowd that gets right behind the team next week and all our remaining games as well. This time last season we thought that getting relegated to the championship was bad, we are now looking at possibly playing in the third tier next season. Time for Thistle players and manager to show us what they are made of .
  9. Thanks Barney. Hope we survive.
  10. Mystic Barney. Any feelings about next 4 games?
  11. Nobody drops out the completion this week.We have thistle4celtic1 and Sandy on 2 life's, Rid Skwerr and sb1876 each have 1 life. The next prediction is for our home game against Alloa. All predictions must be posted by 2-55pm 20th April.
  12. Exactly. If we go down it wont be because the teams round about us had easier games in the run because the opposition had nothing to play for. It will be because Caldwell lost 7 out of his first 10games in charge and only got 5 points in that time. If we go down he has to go. I also could not believe he said our league position is irrelevant, he might not be worried about our league position, but as a Thistle fan I am.
  13. 'We don't win many games, or score a lot of goals', he sings. Sad but true of the last 2 years now.
  14. Safe journey to all the Jags travelling to the game today. Lets hope it's a happy one home.
  15. It was on the BBC sport website. Explains why it was wrong.
  16. He's got plenty of hot air to blow the candles out with.
  17. I read today that Keown has not featured at all for St.Johnstone.
  18. Since I am running this competition I should be neutral. But when it comes to Thistle winning a game, that neutrality goes out the window.
  19. All predictions now in. Predictions are 1 home win, 1 away win and 2 for the draw. Good luck everybody, particularly Rid Skwerr who predicted an away win.
  20. Thanks sb1876. You have 1 life. Thanks Sandy. You have 2 life's. Thanks Rid Skwerr. You have 2 life's.
  21. I may be wrong, but I feel some people's thoughts about the board depends on how the team is doing on the park. Team doing well, means the board have the right man in charge, fans happy, good crowds. Team doing badly the board have the wrong man in charge crowds probably not good. Our current board have brought in a manager who has totally failed his main objective, getting promotion and could lead us to a relegation instead. We were also told there would be monthly updates. As far as I know we have had known this year. So to put it mildly not the best start for this current regime.
  22. This is the 4 still in the competition. No predictions in for the Ross county game yet. All predictions must be posted by 2-55pm 13th April or you will lose a life.
  23. The whole of this season is an embarrassment.I know some of the players have only been at Firhill since January. But any player who has been at Firhill since the start of the season should be embarrassed and Caldwell should be as well.
  24. Agree. I have said before,if we stay up I can see him being hailed by some as saving us from relegation. If we go down ,he no doubt has a plan about how he will get us promoted. The sobering fact is a manager who rightly was not liked at Firhill needs to get 1 point from his teams final 4 games to win promotion from the first division. We could be in a league next season where Dick Campbell has got his part time team to win.
