  1. Maybe McCall should try it in his team talk. Would probably have the same effect as usual.
  2. I think LIB that you've missed the gist of Exiledjags' post. He was commenting on the need to get the Club management fundmentals sorted (with which I wholeheartedly agree). The team and playing side cannot flourish, and importantly stabilise, unless and until that is sorted.
  3. Can someone explain to me why Rangers U19's can't use Ibrox?
  4. I've long argued that, given our unpredictability, the manager is a luxury we could dispense with. Instead allow the team to be selected by the winner of a half time draw a week or so earlier.
  5. When he says he picked the wrong team, maybe he's referring to the choice of club when he left Ayr.
  6. I have no idea how the fan ownership process will turn out, but the club currently is amateurish in the way it is run, and unambitious in its approach to the club's development. Nothing seems to work well - poor communications, a stuttering Jagzone and a sense that no one has a strong hand on the tiller. Re-hiring Archibald seemed like a muddled way to save money by avoiding hiring an assistant to McCall and using the remainder of Archibald's contract budget. The club needs a root and branch clearout, with a hard nosed CEO from outside football to kick arses out the door and bring in some professional non-football management. If, as seems likely we will be looking to replace McCall and his team if results do not change, we should cast the net much further that the tired also rans of Scottish football management. Look to continental Europe, for someone different with a fresh approach and new contacts. We have to stop playing "the Partick Thistle way", it stands for incompetence, and zero ambition. If all the club ownership changes achieve is a re-arrangement of the deck chairs, then an opportunity will have been lost.
  7. Mayo is best when not spread too thinly. Give him a specific job to do that does not involve wandering about the pitch.
  8. Yep - they're doing a grand job! Don't keep it up!
  9. Thanks SB. Just read the stuff - Don't know about the quality but plenty of them.
  10. Why has there been no response from anyone at all to any of the questions raised above by Norgethistle?
  11. I don't share the pessimism of some posters. There was a marked improvement in the team's performance last night compared to earlier in the season. They have lifted the tempo - Zanata and Cardle on the wings were much more direct and there were fewer cross field and backward passes that simply passed the buck as well as the ball. Graham's stronger presence drew defenders and created space for others. Attitude has improved with better commitment in challenges and better pressing. Bannigan frustrates and impresses in equal measure, and wonder how we would perform without him, now we have more options in midfield.
  12. A soft penalty but the ref has been terrible all night.. Big improvement in speed and attitude.
  13. The only "stability" we have has us anchored at the bottom of the league. We need less stability and more movement. McCall is doing a fine job and should not be criticised for a root and branch clearout.
  14. Sorry AJ no offence: A poor joke based on the old addage that if a manager gets the support of the board he is usually out the door shortly after.
  15. Are you saying he is about to be fired?
  16. Go back to sleep and your parallel dimension - it must surely be better than reality.
  17. He was poor before Saturday's game, and for others to laud him for County's good performance ignores the rest of the team's contribution - maybe they shielded him.
  18. Great signings, and McCall's transfer performance is miles ahead of that of both Caldwell's and Archibolds's. As other have said it has a logic and a plan and is not a knee jerk reaction. A new goalie perhaps?
  19. We'll have to be quick, time and Tide wait for no man.
  20. As I said I wasn't there, but judging by the BBC's possession and shots stats it seemed that we did much better the second half.
  21. Maybe we are being unduly pessimistic after today's game. I wasn't there but the strong wind must have been decidedly in Arbroath's favour - being used to these conditions. It seemed to be the proverbial game of two halfs. That, plus the re-jigged Thistle side, was bound to make it a struggle. Everyone seems happy about the transfer window signings (and un-signings) with perhaps more new faces to come. The team should improve and the stability should allow McCall to make his mark on what is now (almost) his side.
