  1. I think Archie's big decision is whether he plays Barton in the center of defence or drops him completely. Playing him again in midfield is not an option.
  2. A lot of it is in Archie's own hands. If he repeats the same tactics and formations of the last two games then we are in trouble. He has to motivate the players first and foremost and find a system that will make us harder to beat during this injury crisis.
  3. We are heading for a winter of discontent with these puns
  4. cos they were near Bottom
  5. Barton is a major problem in the team just now. He's being targeted by opposition managers for his inability to hold onto the ball ,his slowness and his lack of effort . He is completely unaware of opposition runners .What he brings to the team , which seems to be endless punts out to the wing, is totally outweighed by his negatives . If you look at the highlights of the last two games ,which amount to about 2 mins you can see all of these .Sick of seeing him jumping out the way of shots and turning his back too.Just before he was subbed against Killie he lost the ball and just gave up, didn't even chase after the guy that took it off him.We are in a dogfight right now and the last thing we need is a total pansy of a player in the middle of the park. .MccArthy should at least be given a start once to see what he can give us.In the decades of Thistle forums Ive very rarely slagged off any Jags player by name , I dont like doing it and I think the last one was Steve fulton but when I see a player with the lack of effort Barton puts in it really gets on my titties. As I said , he'll cost Archie his job
  6. Totally agree with that. With the fullbacks missing we have to change our system for now. Test for Archie to come up with something.Would settle for some Anti-football McLeish style and some points on the board for a while until we get some players back
  7. Barton in midfield will cost Archie his job
  8. I think how Archie approaches the game on saturday will define whether he should stay or go. In his interview After the he correctly identified what was wrong., too many balls hit wide , not closing down ,not playing enough through the middle not picking up runners , too many touches ect. Many of the problems came from his own tactics and team selection..This obsession he has with trying to stretch teams wide comes at the expense of going through the middle and meant Two of our best players ,Dools and Erskine were left constantly isolated. This is a return to our first couple of seasons when it was endless ineffective punts from far out on the wing punted to an isolated striker ..Barton is the main culprit in many of the issues he stated. There was loads of times he could have simply rolled the ball to Erskine in front of him and decided to hit the hollywood long ball out to our ineffective wide men or was just too slow and got caught on the ball. His chasing back and picking up men was near non existent. The big worry for me is that after the Motherwell game he changed virtually nothing in our set up or formation.Teams know exactly how we will play and set up.If Archie is to survive he must re think everything and be much braver in his actions now. If he starts Barton in the midfield then the shoogly peg might fall of the wall.
  9. Ha Ha Ha, Aw give KJ a break, he's a proper Jags fan like all of us.Give him another 35 years of it and he'll be on here a broken, cynical, depressed, auld wreck of a human being like the rest of us.Believe it or not KJ these are the good times.
  10. God almighty, just seen the highlights. Even worse than I thought Players. Standing off players, not tracking runs, players jumping out the way off shots. These performances from the players and management cannot continue .
  11. Good post. I feel Archie has been almost paralysed in the last couple of matches to change anything. He doesn't have his attacking fullbacks available just now so why are we setting up as if we do. At half time at Motherwell I couldn't believe he didn't make subs. Killie game as well we were way too late with the subs. We are on a terrible spiral down at the moment and Archie is repeating the same tactics and formations. Two weeks after a horrific display at fir park he sent a team out that copied exactly what we had done a fortnight before . I really hope Archie can find something different in his locker to turn things around,
  12. Well if he can't motivate players he's no use as a manager then is he? and he could and should have dropped Barton after motherwell.
  13. Archie saying the injured players are out for a long time and we have to go with what we've got. Why then are we trying to play in exactly the same way then? How about trying to go through he middle more since our attacking fullbacks are injured? We play more across the pitch than up and down it .Awful to watch.I thought Erskine and Dools got totally isolated yesterday.
  14. The really worrying thing is that we just went out and repeated the tactics and performance of the Motherwell game.We have vital players missing so why try to play in the same style as if we have them? We had a fortnight to come up with something different and came up with the same. Why is every time we sign a forward they end up stuck out on the wing? The one definite thing we can fix just now is getting Barton to feck out of the middle. He is a major problem in terms of turnover to the opposition. Archie needed a major rethink in terms of how the team play and came up with nothing , very worrying . Falling attendances might cost Archie his job . Can't see where a win is coming from.
  15. Dreadful, dreadful , dreadful from players and management. With our injuries why are we trying to play the same formation and tactics? Unmotivated and unorganised an awful performance summed up by Barton's couldnae be arsedness trying to win the ball back after he lost it just before he was subbed. Archies obsession with us playing the ball from wing to wing is baffling ,what the feck is the point . Did the manager learn nothing from the Motherwell game? We were actually worse today against worse opposition. Storey , spitall ,Sammon all glued to the touchline .For fecks sake Archie change something , . Barton is a total liability , what he brings to the team is completely out weighed by what he doesn't. How how he started today after the motherwell game is beyond belief. We play in slow motion ,there is no team moves the ball forward a slow as us . Booting the ball from one touchline to the other. Everything done too slow.........omnishambles.
  16. Injury woes aside the players and management must show complete commitment and effort to this game. The Motherwell game was as bad as I can remember under Archie. There can't be a repeat of getting caught on the ball, jumping out the way of shots and not chasing back like there was at Fir park. Hope to see the team at least organised at free kicks and throw-ins. Total omnishambles of a performance last time out and this needs a 180 degree turnaround from management and players.
  17. WGS made an arse of that tonight. We had no midfield for the whole of the second half . I said after the slovakia game I thought he was too late with the subs but tonight was a joke. Tactics , formation and team selection were all wrong. Yes hes got sh1te to work with but he'snot helped. Dont know if he should go or not but he's made alot of mistakes
  18. 4-3 to Belgium. Is that us in the playoffs if we win tomorrow?
  19. Since the Gary Caldwell one . The end of that game the celebrations were magnificent.I was at the Mojo one too in the uncovered old Celtic end.I dont think Ive ever been wetter in my life,Walked home over the red blaze car parks after the game and looked like id been swimming in a river of mud when I got home The old hampden was a total midden but these Scotland games with 60,70,80 thousand in the ground were mental.
  20. That was the best atmosphere I've seen in Hampden since we beat France there. The place was rockin when the whistle went. The Dance tune at the end was brilliant. No one was wanting to leave.Good subs from Strachan , if a little late, .Thought we were playing into their hands a little with countless crosses from to wide but Going through the middle more when Martin came on changed it for us.
  21. Hmmm, not sure about that. The Motherwell game was a different level of defeat. I have very rarely criticised Archie on this forum but today was quite simply unprofessional from the manager in terms of tactics , team selection , motivation, substitutions and preparation. The comparison in Motherwell's set pieces next to ours was stark. How many times did we give the ball directly back to them? That's not caused by a run of tough fixtures that is just being underprepared. The team didnt know their roles or what they were doing..
  22. The management need to take a long look at themselves after that one. That is about an unprofessional performance as it gets. I knew we were on a hiding when I seen the team selection.Barton is a total marshmallow of a midfielder .It was everything today though, throw-ins,corners,free kicks , concentrating, desire, fitness too. What Erskine was doing starting on the bench is anyone's guess.Barton isn't this seasons scapegoat , he's a problem pure and simple.Hes targeted by opposition managers as a player who gets caught in possession easilly and unless he changes that dramatically he shouldn't start. We looked amatuer today, men against boys. Motherwell were light years ahead in terms of preparation and organisation and dare I say motivation too? First time Ive had real serious doubts about Archie but there is some real basics missing. The midfield move the ball so slowly through it lets the opposition numbers back to defend all the time.. My biggest worry is that Archie must have known what was coming today and played right into Motherwell's hands.
  23. worried about this one.Motherwell play a pressing game and I can see Barton getting caught on the ball a lot. Elliot being injured is a is a huge blow for us. This will be won or lost in the middle of the pitch and we are going to have to up our game to get anything.
