  1. Chick young will be rubbing his hands,"how very, very dare they"
  2. The apathy of the way the players dont complain to the ref after Morton's second "goal" says a lot.Halliwell, the only one to say a peep.
  3. The other half of the equation is that there is no movment off the ball to receive a pass. There is often never an option of passing it in the first place and games just spiral into a match of long kicks.I think realativly speaking, we have as much young talent coming through as any country but as soon as they reach first team level,in any of the divisions, the development of their football brains is put on hold.A big factor in the style of football we're watching now is the pressure cooker set up of the league system also.No breathing place for managers to experiment with a passing game. When you hear media and usually Old Firm fans talk of having "meaningless Games" if the set up was altered these would be excatly the games in which football in Scotland could actually develop and go forward.Ther has been a noticeable decline in the stanard of football in the last few years and still nothing is done to stop it. Having witnessed the Morton and Dundee games I can only imagine that that is what watching football in the Nineteenth Century would have looked like.
  4. It's so obvious it's unbelivable. When we were in possession on Saturday there was zero movment from Thistle players to receive the pass. The amount of times we got caught on the ball was incredible. This is an absolute basic of football but as well as the players McCall as manager must take blame for a team so restricted in passing options.WTF do they do at training all week. How some players, who cant move five yards to make a pass easier, become professional footballers baffles me.
  5. We've had worse forwards ,no doubt, but i'm not sure if I've ever, in forty odd years of watching , seen a Thistle team less likley to score a goal in a game in any division. The forwards get basically zero servive from the back forward.Erskine was the only player who thought of getting to the by-line the rest simply punted hopefull balls up in the air and back to the opposition.Paul Paton will be the reason I stop watching Partick Thistle,he gives the ball to opposing players more than their own players do.I am baffled why a manager sits and watches that every week and fails to either drop the ***** or improve his game.I'M GIVING IT THREE MORE WEEKS AND IF THAT DIDDY IS STILL IN THE TEAM IM CHUCKING IT.I'm a Jags fan from the womb and have now reached the end of paying money for that utter garbage.I watched the whole of the second half at Greenock with my head in my hands and through my fingers,is that really what supporting your team should be about.Still ragin' at the whole attitude of players and managment's complete tactical and motavational ineptitude. How many goals will we score this season? Under twenty is quite possible.I remember we used to have forwards that would score that on their own.If one of the promoted teams gets their act together we are lookng at a play off spot.
  6. Paul Paton is an utter liability to the team. Giving the ball to Paton is the same as giving it to the opposition on a five second delay. He is a major problem in the team.We have hardly a player that can make a ten yard pass absolutley shocking for professional footballers.McCall changed formation back to 4-4-2 in the second and to be quite honest doesn't seem to know what he's doing.Iv'e still never seen him make a tactical change or a substitution that's saved a game for us.One shot on goal, i think, the whole game. Don't have a clue where McCall goes from here in formation, team selection and tactics but Im not paying much longer to watch Paul Paton get two yards over the halfway line and punt the ball with his head down across the park to the opposition full back for much longer. Utter Utter shite from players and manager.
  7. Alex O'hara was a terrific ex-H*n
  8. I remember him playing in midfield against Morton in a game that is in my top five all time worst Thistle performances that I have witnessed. Think we lost 1-5 or 2-5 which flattered us. "To fat to play" doesnt really describe him well enough.
  9. Not a bad player today.Excellent hunger and attitude from the whole team.Grehan looks to be the first big forward who isn't a diddy we've had for ages and his set up for the goal was superb.Well done to Boyle also for his performance despite a stupid booking. If Liam gets one goal he'll go on a run but he needs to get off the mark in league terms soon. Better from McCall also in terms of formation and tactics but the only critisism is for a lot of the time today it was kick and rush with Grehan winning nintey percent of the headers against Dundee's center half the temptation was always there to punt it.We need to find the balance between a better passing game and having some cutting balls forward. A good result and a great platform to build on and eh............HA,HA,HA,HA, Harkins you petulant tosser.
  10. He was playing in Norway a few seasons ago.A few friends I have there said he had a reputation as a bit of a trouble maker in the dressing room. Not sure given his age and weight he'd be a good signing at all
  11. Always thought Corcoran is a dead ringer for Douglas Reynholm from the IT Crowd.
  12. I generally agree with that but my problem with McCall at the moment is that he not developed or changed as a manager at all ,in fact tactically I think he has went backwards. There has been very few occasions in the last season were I've seen a tactical or formation change or a substitution that has saved or won a game for us. Budget cuts or not ,his recent signings have been poor. His initial signings, the likes of Harkins,Twaddle,Rowsen even Maxy perhaps also raised expectation and I think the loss of Harkins and Twaddle has been a much bigger blow to the team than we thought. I think the next tactic he'll use is reverting to a sweeper system with a three/five at the back shape but without a natrual sweeper or any player able to cross a ball in from wide finishing above the play-offs will be a good season.
  13. Not seen us play yet this season so I wont pick a team but I think it's got 0-0 written all over it.Let's hope our defence is solid this season as I reckon we're really going to struggle to put the ball in the net.
  14. Totally agree,God I used to give him pelters for his time-wasting antics against us.Could turn out to be a very good 'keeper for us though, welcome to the Jags.
  15. I think this is a realy interesting thread and that Woodstock Jag's post is the real key. There's not much between any of the clubs in this division and a manager who can adapt and vary tactics is vital in winning matches.IMac has been found wanting this way for a while .Our goaless/winless streak of last season showed opposition managers had him sussed out.A key season for McCall and the team and my feeling is that IMac has to develop himself as well as the team.
  16. still ragin at that rip off,the first to be settled by tribunial in Scotland IIRC.
  17. Not technicaly the worst player but the most I've ever disliked a player is Brady. He summed up everything that was wrong about a Dick Campbell team in one individual. Two of the actual worst for me are Allan Carson and Brian Purdie.
  18. that we didn't pay him off earlier?
  19. I wonder, after watching the short passing and movment of teams in the world cup how long it will be beore we resort to high balls to midgets again.
  20. There is a lot of ill informed bollox in this thread. Many Public public sector workers have had Pay CUTS over the last few years.I myself lost 3k off my wages and seen many workers on 15k or less have their salary reduced. We do live in the real world and the strikers who are coming out are doing it to protect their jobs and their families IN THE REAL WORLD. Public services are about to get slashed and when you can't get your children a decent education or your bins emptied or your road fixed try complaining then
  21. My Queens supporting mate said McCall did a little dance for them after the goal.
  22. Anyone else watch this on beeb1? Always great entertainment to watch a relegation battle when your own team is not involved. Two or three blood injuries, late goals and a near riot from fans on the pitch at the end mental stuff.Palace's captain was close to tears at the end.Real passionate football.
