A similar rule in football would have meant Ghana would have won, Suarez's intervention rendered meaningless, and this debate would not be taking place, which may not necessarily be a good thing. Also, I've always felt it a bit harsh that, should the penalty from such a handball go in, one team is down both a goal and a man: Australia and Harry Kewell, for instance. It's as if they are being punished twice. If the outcome of a deliberate handball on the line is a goal, there is no need to send the man off. That said, had this been the case we would have missed a great deal of drama the other night!
