  1. Don't post much, usually just read them, but ....... This is ridiculous. Nothing against the old woman. She was just a posh, pampered privileged old person. She has nothing in common with my family or myself and had done nothing for us. Offering condolences or marks of respect should be a personal choice. Maybe TJF could poll their members to see if we agree with the sfa's decision? It is possible they might want to postpone another round of fixtures that falls in the "period of mourning/" Just ridiculous!
  2. A few days ago I sent the following open letter to TJF, The Partick Thistle board and the CEO. I may have used the wrong contacts but I only received a reply from TJF Your fan statement is more eloquent and forceful and I would like to be added to the list of signatories Do I have to do anything further to be added? Iain Brand TJF member 44 Copy of open letter to TJF, 3BC, the Partick Thistle Board and CEO I want to express my great disappointment on reading the statements made about the breakdown of talks to bring Partick Thistle under fan ownership. To 3BC, the Partick Thistle Board and CEO The fairly low membership of TJF might be disappointing, however 500 paid members of TJF represents a much larger fan group than the board and 3BC. So, I urge you to reconsider your position, and restart talks with TJF immediately. This whole process has been very secretive. You need to let the fans into the discussion. After all this is all about the fans of Partick Thistle. So, for example, why not publish your criteria for “fit and proper” custodians and let us, the fans, discuss them. To TJF Forget about “due diligence” The club has to be passed onto the fans, as Colin Weir wished, If we inherit debts, then we deal with them when in charge TJF appear to have appointed directors, and representative for the board, without any involvement of the fans who are members of TJF. This doesn’t sound like fan ownership, You need to sort this, by setting up meaningful elections. Your bulletins lack new content. I would urge you to be more open with the fans about your thoughts and discussions, both internally and externally. My main points are you all need to · work towards restarting talks. · be more open with the fans. · If there are problems of personality, sort them Apologies if there are any errors in my assertions, or clumsiness in my language. I have not read every bulletin or web site, and I’ve tried to keep my content concise. Yours sincerely. Iain Brand Season ticket holder BB99 TJF member 44
  3. I don't usually post, just read an absorb the 'expert' views I'm an older supporter like most of us. I've been following the Jags for well over 60 years, and most of all I really don't want to lose my club, whatever division we're in. So a couple of points and genuine questions .... I'm not totally sure I understand what occurs with due diligence but it seems sensible to find out the financial situation as soon as possible, so realistic plans can be made. I don't understand why 3bc should refuse dd. What can be wrong that isn't half expected and if there is something wrong we have to find out about it sometime. In defence of 3bc why would they want to hang on to the shares which have been bought for the fans. This is Thistle not Barcelona. I don't understand what they can get from this except a lot of grief. I've joined TJF and paid my money. I'm not particularly wanting to have my voice heard over others but I'm disappointed with the amount of information and consultation that has taken place so far. It all seems a bit repetitive and slight in content. If we own the club shouldn't we be meeting to make some important decisions by this time. Has the final format been decided? Did I miss it? What is it? The Motherwell model seems to be working so far for them. Does that model fit/not fit with PTFC? I admit I may have missed this in some of the emails from TJF However I'm not the only one. The figure of 1000 members for TJF is being used as a necessary goal or hurdle. Why is that? If we only get 500 members then that's what we have, and we should proceed with that number. Anyway I think more will join when the transfer occurs and there is a better recruitment campaign. At the moment it just seems to be all very negative and defensive. Finally if it is all doom and gloom financially wouldn't we still want to transfer the club to the fans and then if we think it necessary, we can actively look to recruit new owners who would invest their buy in cash and maybe more in the club. Finally, I suppose I should admit that I don't really understand why anyone would not want to have fan ownership over being owned by an individual or group. But I suppose that is just my politics.

    Drums!

OK. Most people seem to like drums or are not bothered. I therefore withdraw my complaint. Accept my apologies as a grumpy old man. . . . . F'n drums

    Drums!

I hate drums at the football and I don't want them anywhere near Firhill. At best they are just annoying like the Motherwell drummer who had little rhythm. At worst they help the opposition supporters create more noise and have more influence as with Rangers and Celtic. Would anyone else like to see them banned from Firhill? Could we have a poll? Would it be worth contacting clip? Ban the drum!!!
  6. Not sure this right yet. How do unallocated under 16s season tickets get you a seat for all ticket game? Or don't they? (equally how do NS ticket get a seat for all ticket games) If we still have free tickets for PATG how does this stop abuse? I don't like charging away fans differently at any ground So maybe better just free season ticket for under 16s, and PATG £5 on day £25 sounds OK but not if you have a few kids. I have 3 grandkids season tickets and see point as one didn't go often however all seats used every game. I do think an admin fee is OK but maybe as someone suggested a sliding scale for those with more kids. 25...15...5 .. 5 ....5 etc The whole point of this is to attract people for the future. Can we all tell the club this or are too few folk affected. P.S, Hw can ou get the tet to inut atnotrmel pe wtout missin ot letters ? To translate, how can I get the text to input at a normal speed without missing out letters
  7. Still slow connection so to keep it short. potty trained: Good points yoda-jag: Aye right!
  8. potty trained: Why is it better? It is just a more settled seating plan, in my opinion, and fits and uses the space in our stadium better. Why not try it and see? Continually changing seating arrangements is not the best arrangement. (Sorry slow web connection makes long relies time consuming and tiring) l also note the comment about directors (yoda -jag). Are we not allowed a different opinion? Can we not have sensible debate?
  9. Appreciating most of the comments here about consultation by the board etc. I think that their proposal for seating is the best we can get with the stadium in its present condition. What we really need is a safe standing area the South end, but that s a long way off. Also why are we always threatening to boycott the club? Feck's sake what will you do on a Saturday? Go shopping with the wife? Find another club that listens to their fans? Aye right. Good luck to you. I'm going to Firhill and looking forward to next season. I think we'll probably see most folk there too. P.S. I also think that in nearly 60 years of coming to Firhill this is he best board of directors I have ever known. I may be wrong I don't know any of them but the seem an awful lot better than past incumbents.

    Catering!

If the food and drink are as bad as folk say (I've only bought one flat warm coke this year) and it was certainly poor all last year then let's stop buying it. That's maybe the only way to get change. I don't like not supporting the club, in any wee way, but the caterers seem to be 'extracting the Michael', just a bit. So I'll be going to Jaconelli's, the Cube etc. from now on, as they are at least trying to give a decent service for your money. Might even start taking a piece to the game like you did when you were a wean. If more folk give the pie stall a miss, the more likely there will be change or at least and answer and the possibility of a change.
  11. I have been thinking for a while of writing to David Beattie to thank him for his part in our teams improvement at all levels. The whole ethos of the club has undoubtedly changed for the better, and I think it is primarily down to him and the people he has brought into the club. Whither we have more success on the field or not I am now even more proud to be Jags fan than usual. So best wishes and thank you very much Mr Beattie you are, in my opinion, the most important person at the club just now. (There, that saves me writing, I was never very happy writing unsolicited letters to folk I don't know anyway. Especially, now that I have read it over and it sounds like sycophantic pish. However I did mean it.)
  12. Some of this abuse of one of our players is ridiculous. Hugh Murray is not a thug nor is he stupid. He may have made some poor judgements at times and he has been unlucky at other times. In my opinion he always gives his best when playing and never hides on the park. He is older but that doesn't make you immune to mistakes or getting upset. After the penalty incident he would have been hurting, then being bundled off the park would have hurt physically and McDonald should have been booked for what was a bad tackle. So he shouted a bit, not a booking to most refs. However if you book both for shouting McDonald should have been off too for the tackle and aggressive behaviour. Its easy to look hard done to when you've got your 'hit' in first. Anyway enough is enough Murray will know he made a mistake and when he plays again, and we will need him, I hope he gets all our support.

    I'm Off!

I don't sign in very often and rarely post, but I do enjoy reading the posts as they keep me up to date with what's happening with the Jags and some can be quite clever and quite funny. However I am now going to give the site a rest for a while. You see, I've just got fed up with the self-righteous tone of many of the posts and the continual threats of boycott etc. Yes, Rangers should start in the third division, there is no need to debate it. But hey, sh*t happens and life’s not always f*****g fair. This is not life and death morality, its football, and we know all about FIFA’s principles, were not in their league in terms of immorality, and never will be. The board is taking a lot of criticism just now, and I don’t think it’s really justified. I have no great knowledge of their collective worth. I don’t think I have even had a conversation with a board member in all the years I have been following the Jags. However I know it’s a lot easier to take the moral high ground when you don’t have any responsibility and you don’t need to pay the bills. So I’m going to back our board, in whatever decision they make, and I’ll trust them to make that decision with the best interests of PTFC and football at heart. To all those people who won’t return if the decision doesn’t go their way. Good luck to you. It’s your money, your time and your prerogative. It does seem however that many of the people who say they won’t be back were kind of looking for an excuse to stop going anyway. After 50 years of watching the Jags I can understand that. Although I’ve not reached that point yet myself, if I do, I hope I’ll just admit I’ve had enough, and disappear quietly. Anyway, I am going to watch Partick Thistle next year,a t every opportunity I can. Me, my grandchildren (whenever they’ve been bad) and anyone else I can drag along. Maybe see you there! C’mon the Jags and FTOF.
  14. On a bit more positive note, even though disapponted. As I was taking one of my yougest grankids to his first game we had a wee look at the pitch on our way out and a sit in the dugouts A gentleman I didn't recognose (Iain Dodds I think) spoke to us for a a minute then asked us to wait when he went away. He returned with a signed ball for the wean and the club photographer. Wee fellow was a bit too shy to show gratitude but I like to thank the man and the club for showing a bit of care for their youngest supporters. Well done PTFC. P.S. Bye the way the pitch was fine and playable what the ref was thinking about I don't know there was no danger to anyone playing on the pitch and he just wasted a few thousand supporters (+ one wee boys)Saturday afternoon
  15. Just in from St Andrews night, took 3 friends (non-jags) don't rally know how I feel, just a wee bit sad and a wee bit embarrassed. Just 20 to 30 people there, room very cold, fish suppers ok, not great, but just no atmosphere. No blame from me however, all who attended, good people, organiser good people. Just sad, watched a bit of Jags vs h*ns game 3-0 great atmosphere, lots of jags fans, where are they? A junior team, or bowling club, could muster more supporters for an event like this! This is no reflection on the organisers who had did a good job to make the night enjoyable. Just no jags fans. Where are they? Should the committee sell lots of tickets each like a school PTA? I don't think so. Should more jags fans back the fans association? That's up to them. Just sad and thought I would share my disappointment and sadness with all you fellow jags (if there are any left). Is this where we are? A lost cause? Finished? Going nowhere F****d? . Sorry to be so negative. I'm a jags trust member, season ticket holder (along with two of my grandchildren)centenery member, etc. But where is it going? I left Firhill and went back to my local with friends, they said they enjoyed themselves.I felt I had to apologise. Maybe the drink has had it's effect and all will be better in the morning. Maybe not. Night night jags fans wherever you are, just wish you would want to come to firhill.
