  1. Ahh the old thing that Rowson does nothing eh? Well tell you what being able to tackle and track back is a good attribute to have as a defensive midfielder, true his passing isn't great but jeezo Jaggernaut watch the next time Paddy or Paton make a run up the wing and have a look to see who covers, true sometimes leaving the middle exposed but he tracks back more than anyone in our squad. Swap that with Hodge, who i think is actually a decent player, Hodge can pick a pass but can't tackle a fish supperr, Cairney well he should be able to do all that but somewhere along the line he went AWOL and sent his crap cousin. Then you have Flannigan and Erskine, who do not have a defensive bone in their body. The youngsters maybe a little bit more defensive minded, well some of them, but if you HONSTLY think that we would be any higher without Rowson then you sir, are sadly mistaken, we would be in an even worse position if it wasn't for him. Remember last time he left us? Yeah we didn't know what he done til he left and we had Stevie Fulton and Willie Howie in midfield
  2. Steven, you missed the first 15 minutes so you didn't see that Doolan got a foul given against him for jumping for the ball. Grehan came on after half an hour as quite frankly we were playing the high ball to their defence. Grehan has gotten better over the past few games, and to say he was worse than awful is a bit harsh, he wasn't great but hes a target man, he can only get his head to things. We attempted to give it to him on the chest and to be honest, he isn't the most technically gifted player with the ball at his feet so we were always going to struggle. To the second half, and McCall plays about with the formation, and when Sid came on, who went to midfield? Doolan as he has pace and can track back? No he stuck Grehan back there, really great managing there McCall, stick the only guy who has the ability to rile or even midly upset their defence out to the wing, where he is on his weaker foot and hasn't got the pace or the aforementioned technical ability to beat a man. Well done McCall you made my night
  3. I'm sick of it too mate but at the end of the day, it is related to PTFC hence it will stay in this forum. Moving it would just be a bit pointless to be honest
  4. Steven Fletcher made himself unavailable to play according to Sky Sports News
  5. In any walk of life you may have shares in a company, and you may have nothing to do with the company, so you think they shouldn't hold shares? Yes they were gifted the shares after Save the Jags, you may think they should give the shares back, but no doubt there will be red tape somewhere saying it cannot be transferred to back to the company in which they are for, or to any single organisation for free. Yes he made mistakes before, yes it was his along with others who have us in this position in the first place, but now all he has is his shares and performing his job. My point about the fact we didn't have to take his advice is that Beattie et all are not silly wee boys, they all have their own companies and know how to run them so Hughes could advice all he wants, it is down to the BOD to actually act on this advice, which is what is the worst part as they clearly aren't. I was never a fan of Hughes in his time at Firhill, felt he wanted to be in control without the flak of being chairman, but the reins of the club are in Beattie now. This has been a massive over-reaction to the voting out of a directer, no matter how much he had done for us the fans, and talk of a protest at St J? Gimmie a break lads just go and enjoy the day, we may even make it to the quarters if we play well enough, if there is a need for a protest or whatever do it at Firhill, least that way we won't embarress ourselfs too much.
  6. Also, even though this may turn out to be highly unlikely, but with people on here saying they never met eye to eye with JA, could it not be possible that they have found someone willing to part with their money and experience but only if JA is not around due to feeling they arent able to work with them? And before anyone says he has done a good job yes, with that there is little doubt, and business people should not let personal agendas affect investing but get in the real world, it happens every day of the week in the business world!
  7. Tom Hughes is acting on behalf of his company, so tell me in any other business does someone giving financial advice to a board of directers HAVE to be part of the BOD? No he is an ADVISOR at the moment and has been since leaving his post. Yes he has made mistakes in the past, yes this stinks but jesus guys give the guy a break hes doing what his company pay him to do, offer financial advice, it doesn't matter how good or bad it is, its the BOD's job to decide what to do with the money
  8. Noooooooooooooooo aim low with the attendance, think about it, anytime a big deal is made of gtting a big crowd we get humped so play it down and we shall win
  9. B Boy you never read what I said did you? We ARE a small club at the moment, take a look at our attendances they are dire, we dont belong in the SPL we need to earn it, if you say its to do with history, then tell you what, Cambridge United should be in the Premiership cause they have more history than anyone else. I like your passion for our club but don't go knocking everyone else if they don't share your view, we at the moment are a struggling first division side and IF we make it out of this league then it will be a long time before we can group ourselfs in with established SPL teams like Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and Hearts never mind uttering our name in the same bracket as the Old Scum
  10. In a way I get where this guys coming from, all be it, an extreme view. We all know we can go out and get beat 6-1 and then the next week win 5-0, its the Thistle way. Nowadays though football is less about romance and more about getting the most money in to try and stay afloat and then to try and sustain a challange anywhere. This means that we MUST realise where in the food chain that we now lie, and at the moment its nowhere near top dog. But the times can come rolling back for us, we mo longer can say we have a huge support willing to follow through thick and thin because to be quite honest we havent. People drift more nowadays than times gone by. As an example of clubs rising from lower leagues take Fulham, were in the english 4th division at one point, lowest eb in their history and they came back up steadily and now established themselves as a top English team. We can aspire to be like that up here but first people need to stop thinking of us as a big club. WE ARE NOT ANYMORE but..... THISTLE ARE RISING AGAIN
  11. Well I think Cairney had the biggest contribution out of the three, pity it was nearly all bad, he has the first touch of a virgin!!
  12. Don't you see our point though? Your right in a way, today we were no better than Morton, but in the past year, every team you mentioned has beaten us, so technically that would mean they are/were better than us at points. We are dire, really awful in fact, No-one is saying that 17-18 youngsters WILL make the difference but I'm sick of seeing Sid coming off the bench to hold the ball up when realistically we need players who will attack. End of the day if the youngsters are as good as McCall makes out surely then he should think something needs to change and give a few a go, not from the start just yet but a few games off the bench. Your way of doing it would mean that they only play when we are ahead in games, I can't remember too many times like that recently but when Bannigan was playing he never looked out of his depth and I suspect that about quite a few of them aswell.
  13. You say this is NOT the time to blood the youngsters? Well I for one am sick of watching the same group of players from last season struggle this season again. We need something new, and with no money to spend on bringing new players in, what are we left with? Our youngsters yes. And to Kni, Jaggy Mc wasn't in midfield, if you were there today you would of known this, Jaggy Mc played sweeper. Rowser came on and was off the pace, understandable considering.
  14. Can I ask something, why every week does mccall make a deal of saying such n such are in the squad for tomorrow, yet they never get near it? Today we could of had Lochead instead of Maxy, Fraser instead of Sid at least Fraser is a striker, as for all Sids done well in that position for us, he isn't a striker with the instinct for goal. Iv never seen Fraser play but surely he would of made more of an impact than playing Erskine up front or just off Sid or where ever the hell he was playing!!
  15. To be honest I only read a few posts on this thread, and had a small thought but I have no idea how feasible it would be. With the club not really playing ball with a non-exec board rep, could the trust not raise the amount needed to buy a place on the board? I have no idea what the legalities of it would be, ie does it have to be in 1 persons name or can it be a company etc
  16. Really Grant? up until very recently Liam never put a shift in, hence the calls were for Doolan to replace him, I have sat and watched Liam since coming back from injury and it keeps coming back to what I said way back against Clyde at broafwood years ago, he doesnt hit the target enough times especially recently. This may seem like Im picking on Liam, Im not I'm just wondering wether people cling to the hope he will start banging in the goals again rather than look at the squads alternatives
  17. How many games has he played? Serious question, compare that to how many games Harkins got when he first signed and looked like an overweight lazy waster. Give Grehan games and then judge him, seriously cant be any worse than Liams been recently
  18. Grant I agree he hasn't been that great but cmon, the lads not been given a proper chance has he? He starts a few games then hes the first one taken off to play Sid, if he gets a run as this is still his FIRST season at the club I think he may turn out to be not as bad as everyone thinks
  19. Dont qoute me on this but does everyone remeber its Thistle we would be going to see? No hope against a team who are doing well? yeah I can see us picking up at least a draw, though I have no idea how we will do it!
  20. I just want to say my peice on this, someone earlier mentioned that they want money to be pumped into the club, yet the club haven't broke even in around 5 years, why is this? ecuase they HAVE had decent budgets, signed crap players and with not winning or showing anything in entertainment the fans have left, so now with the hardcore siting about moaning at the fact the board is crap, sack the board etc, you have to look and see for the first time can remember the crowd last night was under 1000 people, yes come saturday we will se how many turn up then but look carefully and see how many Dundee fans there is. We do not regularly break 3500 which is our break even mark from last season. This isn't one of these posts to say it's the fans fault we are this bad because in the end it isn't but when people are moaning about lack of investment look at the amount of potential income have drifted away for one reason or another. If these people stayed, all be it it would have been out of blind loyalty, then we could be in a different position to the one we are in right now
  21. I'd be willing to play, could probably get a few others to play aswell
  22. Question for the guy who said about an experienced assistant manager (sorry cant mind who) but why would an experienced AM be needed? McCall isn't a young manager just starting out looking for guidence is he? No therefore surely it makes sense to give a younger guy his first chances in the coaching side if McCall thinks he could make a manager one day. Sorry but I just don't think all this board bashing helps in this instance, yes they have been to blame before, and will be again, but they don't decide who comes in as assistant manager, OR how the MANAGER uses the budget
  23. Hold up here, is this another chance of BoD bashing? All he said was that MAYBE an assistant manager who can play would be the best option, but it was upto McCall, member him, our manager? Ultimately the budget has been set, McCall has agreed to it, the budget has money for an assistant manager in it but would maybe be at the detriment of the playing squad. If McCall is that good a manager then surely it wouldnt matter who was his number 2?
