  1. I thought that was summer football in Glasgow
  2. There is a huge difference in the message given between continuing the Premier/Championship and restarting Leagues 1/2.
  3. An article from the Sun on pie & bovril. How can anyone doubt the authenticity ? I said weeks ago and still believe, there will be no possibility of discussing restarting while the bulk of the country is in tier 4
  4. Hopefully not ..... and he comes back to us and then kick starts his career
  5. Because they pay a lot more than he is currently getting ? That would do it for most
  6. Stoke would be pleased to offload him.
  7. You said it. This is media spin. It costs little, impacts relatively few, but looks good.
  8. Forget about logic. The SFA/SPFL had to be seen to be doing something following the shambles of Dubai and other high profile protocol breaches. What they have done by stopping the lower leagues does not impact on 90% of supporters or 52.3% of clubs, yet it does get them headlines to show they are playing their part and invites to appear on the media. There is no motivation for them to relax the postponement until the SG relax their lockdown, or any pressure on them to postpone any other leagues.
  9. From BBC .... Scottish Cup fixtures planned for 20 February will not go ahead, while Scotland's lower leagues and women's football will remain suspended until 14 February at the earliest. The Scottish FA will review the situation on 10 February. That will coincide with the Scottish government's review of its lockdown. Levels below the Championship and in the Scottish Women's Premier League were suspended for three weeks initially on 11 January. Leagues 1 & 2, the Highland and Lowland Leagues, the East, West and South of Scotland Leagues, Scottish Junior FA leagues and the North Caledonian League were all put into limbo. Meanwhile, Scottish Cup ties between 12 January and 1 February were to be rescheduled, with 12 second-round ties still to be concluded following postponements. SFA president Rod Petrie said: "A number of initiatives have been suggested which may help to make the eventual return to playing efficient without compromising safety. "The decision to extend the suspension is necessary given the Scottish Government's own extension of existing lockdown measures. Football will play its part to support the collective effort to reduce the spread of the new variants of the COVID-19 virus." Last sentence confirms what I suspected that any return will be linked to Government lockdown measures changing.
  10. I read it as the window for loans could be extended beyond the end of January
  11. Wright did. Especially when Sneddon got injured
  12. Whether he improves the squad or not is debatable, but why sign anyone until we know what is happening with the league
  13. From BBC Gossip .... An agreement on restarting the lower leagues is no closer to being reached after Scottish FA chief executive Ian Maxwell met with League 1 and 2 clubs for talks.
  14. Do we need another central midfielder ?
  15. Imagine if Scotland got to the finals of a tournament, but supporters were not allowed to attend ?
  16. There is a difference between training and keeping fit
  17. English National North/South are shutting down and they do have testing in place
  18. I genuinely hope that you are right, but .... .... turn your question round and ask why it would be in the interest of SFA/SPFL (not the clubs) to restart the leagues ? less than half the member clubs and a tiny percentage of supporters are impacted.
  19. The advice is don't travel unless absolutely necessary. Is Elgin v Stranraer absolutely necessary ?
  20. Happy days if we are in the same league as the old firm, and NOT in the premier league
  21. There is also the politics. The football industry is currently held in low esteem by the government, partly due to the SFA/SPFL sounding off and partly due to a player holiday in Dubai. In the current climate with all the country in lockdown, it would not be great PR to start allowing part time players to travel around the country twice a week. The lockdown level will need to be reduced, possibly to level 2 over a wide area, before the authorities will have any option to start leagues one and two again
  22. Imagine what it’s like for a pessimist like me. The thing that keeps me going is thinking I knew I was right
