  1. Sorry to see MCGeough go. McCall had said he thought Ross better suited to a right midfield position. I assume that would be a consensus opinion and that's a position that Campbell is likely to take up plus MacBeth, Cairney and, if he re-signs, Flannigan can play. I would suggest that Paton aside we're short of a competent right back. Campbell as kni points out can play there as can Kinniburgh but that's ok for the odd game or two. Re-signing Robbo would plug that gap in the squad but for now it's down to priorities and Jackie has Rowson & Flannigan in immediate mind.
  2. Fourteen it appears is the new ten.
  3. Very pleased with this signing. In addition to what others have said I also think Tommy looks to have a good deal of strength about him. Not sure if having three frontline forwards(Doolan, Grehan & Stewart) plus attacking midfielders (Erskine and Bannigan) all left footed is ideal. Perhaps that's why Jackie is mentioning Flannigan ahead of Hodge. Btw I'm not sure, unless he did sign a pre-contract, Hodge will have better terms elsewhere. The guy has been out injured for sometime and I don't believe he'd be considered that much a catch for a "bigger" club to risk his fitness. As for Flannigan I feel what we don't get in directness is more than made up for by his close control. Got a feeling if we re-sign Flannigan he may be played out left quite a bit just to vary things up.
  4. It would more suggest that Jackie is prioritizing. The thread title is slightly misleading as I don't think anyone with a contract is being freed. The one thing that stays constant is the playing budget. Only once McNamara knows the result and cost of his priority signings can he know what's still on the table to offer other out of contract players he may wish to keep.
  5. That's totally wrong. It's comments like that which can badly influence prospective players signing for us . We do have a pen and what's more it's nearly full of ink!
  6. Swansea getting promoted will not make one iota difference. I fail to see why the SFA wouldn't want that to happen.
  7. Just re-discovered this gem of a match report from Neil Martin HERE and according to soccerbase Dave made three subsequent Jags appearances coming on as a sub not earlier than the 86th minute in each case. A true enigma was Dave. Incidentally the Recs game also marked the debut for the Jags for none other than Jose Quitongo who also made a subsequent appearance and again against Alloa on April Fools Day.
  8. Given the cold that night anything is possible even hallucinations but I'm still certain that was the night of the rugby tackle, Will.
  9. I'm not sure I understand all this . Apart from the fact that Fleetwood Town are in Scotland so it would be a bit silly heading to Fleetwood to play a team that's not there, why could we not afford to play another team in the NW of England?
  10. Correct. If you read Tom's post it'll be better till we get confirmation before booking or arranging anything.
  11. That's Dave the Ukranian Started his first game up at Recs, Alloa (the coldest I think I've ever been at a game). A few minutes into the game he rugby tackled an Alloa player and got booked. Don't think he appeared in the second half. Arguably the worst player ever to kick a ball for us (if he ever got round to even doing that)
  12. Since the team are training down in Teeside is there any chance there'll be another friendly in the region?
  13. Yip, even the Junior clubs with the ultras sections.
  14. The pitches the youth players play on at either Stirling Uni or beside Forthbank are both synthetic. I'd imagine no one would want to play on a plastic surface at that time of year. Can't recall if the Uni has grass pitches as well.
  15. Can't really see the Club getting much in the way of extra cash. It'll be a "home" game and season ticket holders don't get charged. Wouldn't be surprised if it's held behind closed doors somewhere or maybe down on Glasgow Green.
  16. Balatoni is I think an example of what Jackie is meaning about Lindsay. It's all very well saying Balatoni wasn't signed to play as a first choice defender but Hearts wouldn't have loaned him out if they weren't confident he'd get a fair amount of first team experience. I don't think McNamara would sign a young relatively inexperienced player to play in a position where even if he was struggling he couldn't be replaced. At the same time Jackie can only sign players that he thinks can quickly step into the first team. That's where I think Lindsay is as was Balatoni last season. It wouldn't be an unusual occurrence if Boyle doesn't sign with another club till the eleventh hour. In that case I would expect McNamara would have a loanee left-sided player (like Conroy a couple of seasons ago) that he could bring in. I'd like Boyle to stay but I hope it doesn't go to all that last minute nonsense.
  17. I thought you said you ran into a problem with the Blyth officials, Tom .
  18. Well I suppose Irn Bru did originate from that area.
  19. Thanks for the info I note the "Partick Thistle provides the opposition on Saturday 9th July. Supporters are advised this game may be behind closed doors." I'm guessing that's because the Firhill pitch may not be ready that early in July and we'll then be looking for another venue.
  20. It's fairly obvious we're needing left side cover for Archie as well as a left back to replace Boyle. In fact we also need cover for the left back position. Fairly sure there's none of our youth players anywhere near ready for a squad placing in either of those positions. Unless our finances are even worse than the dire state I think they're in I would hope they'll be a further left sided signing. JMcN says that Lindsay will be expected to make an immediate push for the first team. If he didn't have signing another left sided player in mind I think he wouldn't have phrased it that way.
  21. No need to apologise. I was just making it up anyway . In truth I hadn't heard of the lad up until about an hour or so ago.
