  1. I've met Milne on a few occasions and know him to be a good lad. Sadly his nicest quality is he's very easy going. I'm willing to admit that quality is best left off the field. I don't suppose his proneness to injury would have helped either. Could say this of a few players from Milne's Jags era that being nice and easy going playing under Whyte & Britton would have been significantly different from being nice and easy going under Lambie.
  2. I know there's rumours about Twaddle doing the rounds but if you put that to one side I think it'll be difficult getting a suitable replacement for Paddy. The very reason Boyle is likely to move on is there's always a shortage of decent left sided defenders, which in turn means replacing him more difficult. Factor in McNamara appears to favour a more fluid formation and we no doubt need a left back that's comfortable going forward. As said previously I don't believe a return for Kevin McKinlay, provided he can prove his fitness, would be a bad move.
  3. Perhaps Hodge signed a pre contract elsewhere before his injury. Can't see him attracting many offers since he's been injured.
  4. Echo above sentiments. I take it that Ian Cameron is still in place. No reason to doubt he isn't just it wasn't mentioned on official site.
  5. I remember bringing this up at a Jags Trust evening a season or so ago. I may have misheard but I'm fairly sure I was told choreographed dance on supporters buses was a health and safety issue. I do mind tho' there was a motion at a subsequent Trust meeting to co-opt Wayne Sleep but it was knocked back as it was felt at the time that Allan Heron's dance moves were more than adequate. Personally I think it's a great shame that apache dancing on the City Centre Branch bus stopped sometime back in the mid eighties. And maybe I'm just hopelessly nostalgic when I hark back to the days when Dixie Ingram and the White Heather Dancers used to entertain us on those long pre-motorway trips in the early sixties.
  6. Wasn't paying much attention to BBC Scotland news but I overheard that one MSP getting sworn in today was wearing Partick Thistle tartan. Not sure who this politician of sartorial elegance is tho' I think it might be Humza Yousaf. Anyone confirm?
  7. So how many times do we play Falkirk before September?
  8. For any of the younger posters on here the easiest way to describe Denis is to think of Erskine and multiple the good and the bad by three. I did in fact ask Denis around autumn 09 what he thought of the then current crop of players and he said he saw a lot of himself in Mr Erskine.
  9. You're not involved in sales and marketing by any chance?
  10. Hamilton Accies couldn't make a player out of Akins that's why they stuck him out on loan. Accies that is that had McCarthy, McArthur & Easton on their books around that time so I'd suggest they would have got as much out of Akins as any club at the time. Had we a larger budget McCrystal (who I'm sure is left sided) could have stayed as cover for Archie. Morrow iirc didn't look like he wanted to be at Firhill never mind being coached and motivated. If you want to dig up players that we've had that have gone on to bigger or better things I would be more inclined to highlight our league's joint top scorer.
  11. You really need to keep up, lads. McNamara announced his retirement about 10 days ago. I would imagine Donnelly could still be called upon in a crisis.
  12. I didn't think the first half was that bad. Certainly seen worse first halves at Firhill this season. One thing we've been getting a bit better with is kicking on in the 2nd half regardless of how we play in the first. Beforehand we too easily ran out of ideas or effectively chucked it if we hadn't got anything in the first 45 mins.
  13. He is tho' a good footballer and if he ever got his attitude sorted out he could be a handful. Fortunately few folk ever go to Morton and improve or come good. I still think McKinlay (an exception to that rule) if fit wouldn't be a bad re-signing.
  14. Judging by the way the passengers burst into a pub when they arrive Id guess the buses are not too bevy friendly. Even if they were, uber, I don't think anyone would put it on print on here.
  15. Tade has real pace so he's thus not really too much of a risk moving up to SPL. McMenamin's days at that level are long gone. I can see him going back to Dundee but if you read back a bit on this thread you'll see the reasoning behind how he could come into our price range.
  16. I note tho' where you stay, PT . I'm not so certain Ayr will bring their usual level of support unless we have an early fixture at Firhill and/or they're doing better than expected. From my own selfish point I'm losing the Binos and the Pars both only about 20 mins from my house. Cowdenbeath ain't much further either so from the diesel aspect I should want them to stay up and Hamilton to come down. I should add that even with my love of hedges Brechin isn't exactly a great away day. The place is like a ghost town these days unless you have a love of charity shops and soulless hotel bars. Forfar and Ayr offer more, tho' the former like Brechin has no rail link. I've never been to the new St Mirren place and they'd certainly bring better crowds to Firhill than Accies. That said Morton would be the major benefactors if Hamilton were able to stay up and besides St Mirren's new ground looks like it has all the appeal of Almondvale. Think I'd be happy enough with Accies and Cowden in Div 1 next season but I so want Ayr to do well if Bannigan plays.
  17. Eh? What's important about that thread? Who our next manager is, now that's important. Not a thread about who do you think has applied for the job. What's important about a lot of us bandying the names of out of work managers about? The thread's just idle speculation about something that none of us will know anything about. Of Course there's absolutely nothing wrong with that thread. This forum would be all the poorer without idle speculation threads. Think you're making a mountain out of a molehill.
  18. Once upon a time there was this company call Propco ........
  19. Detest Dundee intensely but in this instance I have some sympathy for them. It's no secret that the National Union of Mascot Performer Trade Institute is a most powerful organisation. Dundee FC may be able to ride roughshod over Fraser Wishart and the Players Union but I don't think even they would have the cojones to take on a paid up member of NUMPTI.
  20. Aye, he more or less chucked it after that. Looked to me like he was past cairn.
  21. Superb stuff! Just as a very small aside was it not Alan Hansen who told the guy Denis isn't even playing?
  22. I was behind the goal when he got his first. Nobody was obviously going to go in with a crunching tackle but they fully anticipated the lad to trundle a slow ball into the goallie's arms. The lad in fact placed a shot outwith the keeper's reach with power you'd only expect a guy double his age would possess. Over the years I've watched a lot of kid's football of all ages but that wee shot was extra special That's great to hear your lad enjoyed it so much, Davie. Great credit has to go to the guys that organised this event. I trust the Club appreciate the benefits of all this and it becomes a permanent fixture on the jaggy calendar.
  23. And a big ditto from me . Thanks, Tommy, your photos are always appreciated.
