  1. Big ditto to all that . I guess we'd be all on edge tonight given that we had to defend our lead for almost all the game. I do think tho' that any neutral in the crowd would reckon that was an easy 1-0 win tonight and that would be down to no small part played by Fox. Only an exceptional goal was going to beat him tonight. His handling and positioning was immense.
  2. Lost for a place to post this, so as Mark Roberts's name has come up in this thread I'll post his goal that sent Hibs out the Cup .Superb goal and a great win for Ayr. I also believe young Bannigan played 90 mins tonight
  3. But isn't this just what they've been doing? I'd argue that it's not just the way they've been treated by their own clubs but also by the SPL/SFL/SFA. And high on that list of mistreatment is the four fixtures each team leagues. Have I got that wrong and the repetitiveness is not a major influence on dwindling attendance?
  4. I'd love to hear Mr Pressley whining on about the state of the pitch. The same Mr Pressley that recently wanted to play on a pitch deemed too dangerous by the match ref.
  5. Apologies for the selective quoting. You've obviously thought out a counter argument even tho' I don't agree with much of it. I feel where your argument falls down is that any sustainable business has to listen to what it's customers want and duly supply their needs. (You can argue that TV companies are also customers but that's not a road I'd want to go down). Lots of businesses will have more profitable products they'd love to sell to their customers but can't due to lack of demand. That's possibly where we are at the moment. The football fan is the customer and the football fan by and large doesn't want a product that guarantees the repetition of four and more games against a handful of clubs year in year out. Quite simply if you don't give the customer what they want they'll stop buying or cut down on purchase.
  6. But even if that amount was correct these figures would only be the top line. I'm not going to buy a season ticket at a price scaled up to 22 home games. I simply couldn't afford or justify the additional expenditure. We can expect away attendances to drop even further as well. In short crowds are bound to drop while the cost of staging a home match remains at best constant. Go on any fans forum and you'll find somewhere a thread about how we can get more folk along to games. We've had countless on Jags websites. Loads of ideas some better than others. But I can guarantee you'll not find anyone suggesting "hey, this playing each other four times a season is great. Let's not limit it to 36 games, let's play another couple of teams four times"
  7. We're always hearing that football is too dear. It's fair to assume that many fans will not have the cash to finance attending another 8 games a season. Something has to give. I'd imagine season ticket sales will suffer and away fans will be even fewer.
  8. If the SPL are so intent on a ten team league what's wrong with two leagues of 16 below them?
  9. If anyone thinks of increasing the price of a season ticket by 22% they can think again. A lot of folk buy STs out of loyalty knowing they'll miss the odd home game in eighteen. Extend that to twenty two home games, priced pro rata, and you're stretching that loyalty far too far.
  10. Got to disagree with above. The guy was made redundant and we gave him a job. What more could the lad have been looking for? Oh! Sorry I agree with above.
  11. Exactly. It's not as if the wind was swirling or anything.
  12. Along the lines of my previous post. If someone took bets about the club next to go into administration Dunfermline wouldn't be in the favourite group. I'm fairly certain odd on us would be a good bit shorter.
  13. It's usually pointed out that Dunfermline's debts are manageable and not accruing. As for their crowds they had twice ours yesterday albeit for what could have been a big top table game. Worth pointing out that Pars play derbies against Falkirk, Raith & Cowdenbeath. So a third of their league games are derbies.
  14. I'm told that historically at this time of year we can anticipate warming winds called the nollies coming off the Clyde at Bowling and sweeping majestically up the Forth & Clyde. Ground should be perfect for Tuesday night. Fingers crossed.
  15. I think there's a strong probability that if Liam doesn't move on this month he'll sign a pre contract with the likes of the Pars or St Mirren. I always feel that once that's done most players don't always put their heart and soul into playing for their current club or it can be perceived that way by fan and teammate alike.
  16. likewise. btw how PotM got it cleared with the NotW lawyers so quickly is most impressive
  17. Sadly I would imagine plying their trade in Dundee they would by now have a high level of immunity.
  18. Looks can be deceptive. It was worse than that.
  19. I wouldn't fancy their chances in the play offs tho'. The momentum is often with the teams on the up. In practical terms they can rest players well before the end of the season if they know they're going to be in the play off frame. Dundee look like they'd have a tiring squad by then. Actually I think Dundee will probably make 8th place or better in any case.
  20. Don't think much has been said if any about the gale. If we'd only gone in 1-0 up at half time, playing with that strong wind, I'd have been a bit concerned. Playing into that wind and scoring four into the bargain was some achievement. Great to see the two youngsters not just scoring but also contributing. Been saying for ages those two are physically strong and there's very little of a risk factor in playing them. Another thing that pleases me was that we're usually none too clever playing in windy conditions. Today we turned that into an advantage.
  21. Iirc Santala was named MotM despite the fact we were playing away . Anyone confirm?
  22. Talking about l'enfant terrible I've copied this piece of fitba speak from Stuart Miller, this month's Clyde manager, re changing his team's captaincy Reading between the lines anyone?
  23. One goal in two games! You should feel privileged.
  24. Heard about this earlier. Things are getting rather surreal. Has Massone nipped off with the cash?
  25. So you would have subbed Donnelly rather than Buchanan? That's fair but I thought Liam was well knackered after about 80 mins. I also thought Donnelly over the piece didn't have a good game but imo McCall got his substitutions spot on, which is not something that has happened too regularly of late. I most certainly didn't think starting a thread solely about his performance was anyway warranted and I must admit to being a bit suspicious of the motive of poster Mencius. Btw what else has he/she posted on here?
