  1. Are there any rumours about further signings? Do we have anyone 'in the know'? January is passing quickly!!
  2. I liked Rudden in his last season with us as he added goals to his hard work. He was always committed to the cause. However I felt he was too quick to leave us and for his own good could have stayed for another season. I had doubts about whether or not he was ready for the step-up to the SPL. I also agree that with Adeloye, Diack and Graham we have enough goal threat povided we continue to play with our current formation. If we change to playing with 2 strikers then we need to sign another striker but I would be looking for someone who is more mobile and who has more football in him than Rudden.
  3. I am sure Graham will be able to lead the team out at the final........... he just won't be playing against Arbroath. I don't know who the decision makers are but if McLennan and Doncaster have anything to do with it the final will not be moved and neither will the Arbroath game. The authorities will turn the situation back to the club and tell them they have the option to play Grahan v Arbroath or not play him so that he can lead the team out at the final. Their choice! To the game itself. A great result and convincing performance. Both goals were very good but I thought Slater's goal was a fantastic effort. We handled the conditions better than Hibs and when the situation allowed tried to pass the ball. No accident Skzter's goal came from a passing movement. Congratulations to the coaching staff, the players and the fans who braved the conditions. Best of luck for the Final.
  4. Have we ever had a striker who has scored as many goals as Graham in the 6 yard ox? I don't have figures but my impression is that the majority of his goals are scored from within the 6 yard box. I can't recall anyone !
  5. I didn't see this coming but as said earlier I would be delighted, and zi am! A big well done to all Jags who travelled to Dingwall and a safe journey home. Also best of luck to the Ladies tomorrow - Rangers await!!
  6. Two reasons: 1. We weren't playing our 6th game in 2.5 weeks or perhaps more relevant, our 2nd game in 4 days after having already played 4 games). This play-off system lacks football integrity and it sucks! 2. We didn't have Nick Walsh as the referee. Today's game cannot be compared to the play-off final. If you look at the highlights of the 2-0 game at Firhill with RC you will see that in the second half we were already starting to suffer from fatigue. That's why we didn't winning that game 3/4-0.
  7. Decent enough side but disappointed Doolan didn't go with 2 up front, say Diack and Adeloye! No idea what the score will be but will be surprised (and delighted) if we win this one.
  8. I have just watched the last 10 mins of the game and scrolled back to see Craigen"s goal. From about 18 yds, he took the ball first time at about waist height and side footed it high into the net. Craig Gordon was rooted to the spot in the centre of the goal. It was a spectacular effort by Graigen. However, to describe Callum Booth's strike as a cross is very generous. In my opinion Booth totally misfit the ball and sliced it to Craigen!
  9. You can say that again. Poorest bunch I can remember in nearly 60 yrs of watching the Jags.
  10. Totally agree with this. We should go with 2 up front and force RC to keep 3 defenders back. Do we know who will be refereeing the game? If its Nick Walsh I wouldn't even bother travelling. Here's hoping that on this occasion we have an 'honest' game of football.
  11. Best of luck to the Jags on Sunday v Hibs. As far as I can see we have played Hibs only once so far this season - a 2-0 victory for the Jags at Medowbank. I anticipate a tough game too close to call. If we play well and get a fair deal from the Ref then home advantage could swing the tie our way. All to play for!
  12. Might be better for Lyon as the alternative seems to be warming the bench. I suspect McInroy will return to Kilmarnock at the end of the season and if we can offload Alston that would create space for Lyons. I wouldn't be averse to Bannigan leaving either but isn't he on a two year contract? There is also Robinson whom I would be happy to retain. We might be stuck in terms of what we can do for Lyons so at some point I think Doolan is just going to have to bite the bullet and either release him or play him ahead of Alston etc. I would hope for the latter.
  13. Courier said he was going to sign a permanent contract with Raith. Implied in the brief article was that he has been told he has no future at Dundee. All of this though might just be 'paper talk'.
  14. Reference to partickthedog. I have absolutely no idea how this happened. So apologies to all for the duplicate post. I am glad you liked it, twice.
  15. I would like to see Diak and Adeloye playing together up front. Both are big, strong, mobile and have the goal scoring instinct. Robinson has made a strong case for a starting place so would get my vote. Rest Bannigan, Graham, McInroy, Muirhead and Lawless. I would go for the following playing 4-1-3-2. Sneddon, McMillan, Neilson, O' Reilly and Milne; McBeth Stanway, Robinson, Fitzpatrick; Adeloye and Diack. Next league game against Airdrie will be harder than last Saturday against Morton. The above formation will force Airdrie to keep 3 defenders back to mark our strikers. By all accounts Airdrie are a big strong physical team so we need to counter that by getting as many physical players as possible onto the park.
  16. Agree with comments. The ladies are a credit to PTFC. Although the points differences don't show this I believe this season the league falls into 3 sections. 1. Rangers, Celtic and Glasgow City (City need to be careful they don't drift out of this group) 2. Hearts and Hibs (Goal difference not points show the disparity) 3. The rest lead by Partick Thistle Ladies. I accept including the Jags in the latter section is open to criticism given our closeness to the Edinburgh teams but I think they are stronger overall and this shows in their goall difference compared to ours. However, notwithstanding the above, we are consistently punching above our weight and should now comfortably secure a top 6 place for the second successive season. Graham's signings, for example, Slater & Boyce are clearly strengthening the squad and this bodes well for next season when hopefully we can continue to be a top 6 club, regularly take points from Hearts and Hibs and achieve a similar points and goals difference. Well done PT Ladies and Management Team.

  18. Agreed - although not very long ar Raith it doesn't show much in the way of loyalty or consideration for his O'Reilly and this would be noticed by the rest of the squad. I think the absence of Stanton is also a factor. On Pie & Bovril fans are saying he is their best player. Seems he is now injured and could be out for a few weeks.
  19. Agree with comments about Carson and SOD. The former will be totally comitted to the cause and the latter will bring experience and composure to, at times a panicky defence. According to the Courier Byrne has decided to sign for Raith Rovers. Looks like he won't be coming to Firhill. Obviously he is being ill advised turning down the chance to become a Jag!
  20. 2nd would be great. If we had finished second last season (and required to play only 4 play-off games) I believe we would be playing in the SPL this season. My Airdrie supporter friend firmly believes Raith will fall away in the second half of the season. This belief comes from his dislike of Raith (and ex-Airdrie Manager) Ian Murray. He thinks Murray is a flash-in-the-pan type manager and incapable of Managing at an effective level for a whole season! Time will tell.
  21. Well we got our point ansd Welsh did the business for Queens Park. My apologies to QP and their fans for doubting them. I just couldn't see them doing anything away to Raith! A big well done to QP. Also to the Jags and the travelling support our 12th player! Must have been a big travelling support as the attendance is reported as just over 3500. Well done everyone.
  22. See Dundee Utd won a poor game at Inverness with a Watt goal in the 87th minute. Pity. Neither of the top 2 are looking convincing at the moment - but keep getting these late goals! Difficult game for us tomorrow but a must win if we are to stay in touch with the top 2. I don't see QP doing anything v Raith.
  23. Agree with above. Turner's strength was playing high up the park and running beyond our striker(s). So notwithstanding he is better than our current bunch of midfielders he is not the type of midfielder we need right now. Perhaps in the summer when Doolan reshapes his squad for SPL football and if he is available!
  24. As said above (Dick Dastardly) Turner is not what ee need just now. However he had better not score against us or I will put a curse on him.
