  1. That is our best team we can play with the options we have...on it's day and barring individual errors in key places, we could beat most spfl teams.
  2. Looked more 4-1-4-1 to me before doolan came on then we went 4-1-3-2 with Fraser sitting but no matter the second half was significantly better than the first in terms of ball retention and we deserved that point.
  3. I agree, frustrating one, he needs to cut that out
  4. 1st name on team sheet for me. He keeps the ball well and drives us forward. We now have good options middle to front, Fraser getting fitter, another who keeps the ball well and has a shot on him. Prince came onto a game as well. I hope we go doolan, Taylor with banzo, Fraser, erskine and the prince next game....that prospect excites me.
  5. We just need to be streetwise, make better decisions and cut out individual errors....as well as having our best 11 on the park at the same time, when was the last time that happened? I am just a wee bit scared that I opened a post from the Norge jag that I agreed with! Normally get fed up with that DVD that was gonna make us a million chat or how our Bod or club admin are no very good.... Good post big man, needed saying.
  6. Just didn't see this coming.....so glad he is back, let's hope he picks up where he left off for us....hopefully an inspired move by archie
  7. Would luv it if he came back, my favourite player last season along with bannigan...he would add to the current side, no doubt. Won't happen though as the player himself will want to prove that he made the right decision and show that he is a quality player to those at united.
  8. Need to see it on tv, didn't think it was at the time. Ref seemed desperate to give it. On that note ref was very poor, Taylor was wrestled the whole game and got no protection.
  9. Mair was fine, decent in the air and we were ok at the back.
  10. Agree with this...we are a decent young side and I think Celtic aside can probably beat any team in the league on our day as most other teams can...we aren't streetwise and can't see games out, fair doos, that will come.....my only grumble I have currently is that we aren't passing as well as we can in recent weeks. Too many times recently we play the percentage game vs picking passes. Glad banzo n Fraser are back in, banzo 1st on team sheet for me, a fit Welsh or Osborne and I'd say that's one of the best mid 3s in the league. We will be fine, folk need to remember how far we have come since Jackie got us playing last season before Archie took it on...don't know about others but I'd have our current situation over the dross we watched under the miners son from fife or McCall trying to get us back to where we are now.
  11. Not even sure what this post means. This thread is doin my box in
  12. Agree with jag fox, that is the best starting 11 we have at our disposal I think, harsh on doolan but he'd still be involved in games at some stage....other thought I had was move ozzy to centre back alongside muirhead and have Fraser in the midfield with welsh and banzo. Ozzy is solid, organises and would toughen our back line up.
  13. I agree broadly with what you are saying and I am not blindly opposing certain things or decisions that are being made by the management team. He also shouldn't be exempt from criticism. I disagree with many personnel decisions that are being made but he is still the best man for the job and time will tell if he learns from his mistakes. I hope he does because successful clubs need stability. I hope he isn't let down by being too loyal to some players though as Saturday was largely about individual errors in key areas...something we have seen too much of this season...
  14. So his goal and quality ball through for Taylor means you think he contributed less than others? He wasn't at his best agreed but I am not too concerned if he isn't tackling like an Osborne for example. He usually creates something or retains possession, something that couldn't be said for many of his midfield colleagues on Saturday.
  15. Archie is the manager and we would be mad to replace him and Paterson.....he has made mistakes and will continue to do so but I'd love it if he was in charge for the long term. People calling for his head is embarrassing and shows a fair bit of ignorance too.
  16. Madden clearly not a good ref, his performance today was as bad as Elliott and craigens was for our team
  17. With a full squad would he be in your starting 11?
  18. Don't think he does enough in 90mins to say he is excellent or has been excellent. At times he makes intelligent runs once or twice a game but for me a midfielder, attacking or defensive needs to have more of an impact than James does, especially when he has the ball. At this level he and Elliott are squad players at best.
  19. Agree completely, Elliott tries hard but he isn't good enough for this level, he and Craigen wouldn't be in my team if we weren't so short due to injuries and suspension. We have better. I like them both, they try but just not good enough at this level. We were quiet in the middle of the park today and were crying out for someone to dictate play and keep the ball. Our retention is poor generally at the moment. Central defence is really weak and I still think muirhead is our best centre half but could do with someone alongside with some experience. As has been said about fox, not sure why his levels have dipped but they have. Mybes he should sit out for a few weeks... Lyle is quality and scored two really good goals and we should have been out of sight after lawless scored but on balance a draw was frustratingly fair in the end as we showed again that we can't defend properly. Notice as well we are trying to be more direct back to front which is ok sometimes but despite Higgy doing well in the air a lot today I can't help but think if we played to his feet more than for him to flick on headers we'd be more effective down the wide areas.
  20. Hmmm mybes, the back 4 also stood off the boy running thru after that tho v hearts... he struggled a bit at fir park in that 1st half as most of the team did and big ozzy came in and gave us something a wee bit different from then on...
  21. Agree dibble we can't pin all the hopes on Fraser as he still needs to develop clearly but a young dynamic midfield with him and banzo in it excites me as both like to retain possession and pick passes....sure Archie has a few more irons in the fire but it isn't easy getting the right bodies in. To be fair he has done pretty well signing wise and if he can bring quality in he will. Lyle is a great signing too, watching him at Falkirk the day we won the league and on the 1st game of last season at firhill I said to my bro that I'd love to see him at firhill and now we have him I am delighted, he will contribute to the team over the next few months no doubt about it.
  22. There's a guy who sits a few rows down from me most weeks who when he played for us had a suspect temperament and opposition players tried to wind him up.....I hope Gary gives me half as much joy as chic did in the red and yellow. The boy is a quality player and this feels like a Friday night lambie signing, gonna fire on scotsport extra time to see what Mcnee and White have to say about it!
  23. Good signing, a few opening day performances from him over the next few weeks will do me...
  24. Done, takes me back about 14 years to the good old uni days.
