See that I won hee-haw again, its obviously a deliberate conspiracy directed against me

The one thing that I've really got to give him credit for is the revamping of our youth policy, all thins being equal we should see the benefits of this in the years to come. As for the directors seeking advice , well I hope they've resigned themselves to a very long process.

I really doubt that whoever we get will have the chance to change much and to be honest so long as we don't get a complete nugget(BoD's are you listening!) along the lines of the Bunnet, I don't see anyone making much of a difference.

I think that is a very cogent point.

Rangers Face Second Charge Of Sectarian Singing By Fans
stillresigned replied to stillresigned's topic in Main Jags forum
The jist of Rangers' case would seem to be that they admit that they have a problem, but that they don't expect anyone to do anything about it. Now, the logic of this viewpoint might find some resonance in the rarefied atmosphere of Park Gardens, but it is not one I expect to carry much weight with UEFA. I'm afraid the old currant buns are being effectively hoisted on their own petard and each reply reveals the logical inconsistency of hunnery. Still its funny to see the gruesome twosome arguing who is the most persecuted! The sad fact about it all is that while all this cr*p is going on we're receiving the usual guidance from Park Gardens i.e. SFA. Expect, the usual deluge of pro-Rangers propaganda revealing that this sectarian nonsense has nothing to do with the Ibrox club it's all the fault of Celtic, Mother Theresa, Spaniards, Italians, the French, Americans , some Germans and of course the Pope who has nothing better to do with his day than, forget leading the worlds biggest religion, to stick the boot into Rangers. Where was I yes the IRA, the BBC, the Good Friday agreement, Caffoliks and any Proddies who lack the loyalty to support the old Teddy Bears. Really its the fault of everyone who is not a dyed in the wool hum and don't forget that those bloody Tim's they're all paranoid you know! -
From the BBC website http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13088419.stm, it seems that UEFA are not likely to be as tolerant in their attitudes as the SFA, who it would do good to take action against the sectarianism on their front door, rather than try to force through a ten team league that no one wants, well not many people have accused the football authorities in this country of living on planet earth. The one obvious question that UEFA's stance raises is why oh why have our own governing bodies taken any significant action ever/ Oh I forgot they are going to take the QC who represented Lennon to court for libel, not exactly politique I'd humbly suggest Although, I don't for a minute agree with the paranoia of the Tims, even I gotta admit the events in Park Gardens look suspicious to say the least.

I'm inclined to agree that this is another sign of the death by a thousand cutbacks of Scottish football , as we have known it, if not alway loved it. I will not crow about the distress of an opponent, since you never really know that its not going to be your team next. As I've posted on here in the past I haven't the foggiest idea what we can do about it. I'm afraid that the forces that are seeking to change the situation in this country care not a jot for "wee" teams like Thistle. If even Celtic and Rangers are forced to play at 6:00 pm to satisfy the "money men", I doubt we've got much of a look in.I've amended my post, to add the caveat that this sympathy for teams in financial trouble obviously does not extend to those who frequent Dens Park or Ibrox Stadium(I'll leave that to the SFA/SFL).

Some Good News & Its Not An April Fools
stillresigned replied to ifu03340's topic in Main Jags forum
I really, really doubt that anyone could equate the FYP and FYQ chants with any of the sectarian bike that jumps out of our televisions whenever Rangers are broadcast. To suggest anything else, is blatant obfuscation. Unfortunately, anyone who has been brought up in and around Glasgow, knows full well what a sectarian chant is. I can say hand on heart(no pun intended) that in forty years of going to Firhill I have never heard anything remotely like one. Apart, of course when we entertain our neighbours. -
Some Good News & Its Not An April Fools
stillresigned replied to ifu03340's topic in Main Jags forum
I noticed Mr. Bain's comment to and much like yourself thought it a pretty abject and puerile one. When will the Rangers "family"(lol!!)ever realise that it matters not one jot what supporters of any other team in the world do, it is they who are being accused and not anybody else. The thought of poor, innocent Rangers supporters being persecuted would be laughable, if it wasn't so pathetic. -
Funny how so many fat people are h*ns?

It seems once again that Scottish football is reverting to its stereotypical image as a laughing stock!I'm really past the point of caring, the views of the ordinary punter and the serious underlying problems associated with football, particularly in this city are waived away as if they were acts of God or nature. Certainly nothing to do with football. Neither, has their been any serious consideration giving to summer football, obviously the Scottish football authorities think that we serfs like nothing better than sitting(or occasionally if we are given a real treat) standing in the pissing rain and snow! I better get back to ploughing my field before my Lord notices.

A fair summation of the history of this football club in recent times I'd say, unfortunately!
-
Unfortunately, I think you've hit the nail on the head and since I fear that we are not in for a Cultural Revolution, in these parts; anytime soon I can't add any little pithy witticism that makes us all feel good.

Haven't we heard enough bigots this week!

I was reading or more correctly skimming the BBC website, when my eye was caught by the headline "Celtic accept" the four match ban on manager Neil Lennon, that's terribly decent of them and all that, especially since I was unaware that Dr Reid has emerged as the new leader of Scottish football. Intrigued, by this notion I further noticed "Follow, follow" was making allegations of racism which upon investigation has apparently been perpetrated by the media, police, Celtic supporters, assorted Catholics and just about anyone who isn't a member of their local lodge, sorry that should read Rangers supporters club. Further investigation revealed that that poor innocent laddie El Hajj Doueff is unpopular with certain ex-Setanta employees and that he is the subject of barracking by opposition supporters. Surely, not I gasped awestruck at the suffering inflicted on the player himself, but also on the impeccably tolerant Rangers support. Whom I may add are no relation tp that bunch of Muppets who spent ninety minutes singing about something their fathers used to wear and refusing to surrender something, silly me I didn't even know there was a war on!

I can confidently predict that after much wailing and gnashing of teeth absolutely nothing serious will come of this fiasco. It involves entrenched interests and seriously challenging what is considered to acceptable behaviour and attitudes in this part of Scotland. Oh and of course there's the little matter of the few quid that seems to trail along forlornly after these two clubs. If that's not bad enough we have to endure the spectacle of the Scottish media who are in reality the cheerleaders of sectarianism, wringing their hands in mock moral outrage, to wit Chick Dung and friends. I see that smug git Bain is on about how Rangers players are just victims, pretty well off victims if you ask me. Whilst from Gorgie we have had an input with all the intellectual energy one would expect from an individual of such prominence in our beautiful game. Christ almighty what planet are these people on, someone should tell them it is the 21st century, mind they probably wouldn't believe you. Anyway, how many times have we been here before, sorry I've only got two sets of hands.

It's just exactly the type of reaction, one would expect from someone professionally connected to football in Scotland utter p*ss!
-
Same old, same old the reports could have applied to any OP game in history. It is noticeable that no mention whatever is made of the continuous sectarian bile that waffed off the crowd, and it has to be said that as usual the h*ns support were by far the worst offenders, although the Celtic mob are hardly innocents. There's not really much point in discussing Diouf or his running to the crowd antics, it's fairly clear he was bought with one eye on appeasement of the mindless element at Ibrox, and its hardly the shock of the year that he got sent off and played up to the gallery, the man is simply scum, of the highest order. As for the managers and coaches, quite simply their behaviour is unacceptable. It all goes to show how much society in this neck of the woods, still has to change. As for reform of the SPL, don't make me laugh ask one of the women who were doubtless assaulted as a result of last night, for her opinions Mr McCleish!

Not really acceptable would have been better staying in and writing my essay(maybe?). I'm definitely not going to any more away games this season. To be honest only went 'cause nephew got comp tickets. If the powers that be ever want to find out why people are not going to football matches I heartily suggest making them watch this sort of rubbish for 90 mins in a old fashioned deck chair in the back garden on a pissing wet night in February. To be honest the product is just not there I'm afraid.I'll not bother to describe the wonderful state of the art facilities at Crappielown 'cos they aint any. Even less would I care to hazard a forecast of how bad we're going to be next year!

Its true that in the short term at least, Thistle won't be in the Champions League final;but, we can still have an opinion. If you read the comments from UEFA, it's like corparate speak gone mad with talk of benchmarking admission prices, etc. Complete and utter sh*t, for God's sake we're talking about a game of football, not an accountancy convention. Its long past time that football started to remember who actually pays their wages etc. yes its mugs like me, ordinary supporters, not Uncle Rupe and his mega-millions. But, to tell you the truth I haven't the faintest idea how we rectify things.

Game Off. Now On For Wed 9Th Feb, 7:45Pm Ko!
stillresigned replied to Junior's topic in Main Jags forum
What happened to that strict insistence that all clubs have functioning undersoil heating, oh I forgot this is the wonderful SPL we're talking about and they just make the rules up as they go along! Fecking joke and shambles as per usual! -
Why don't they reschedule the game till neare the end of the month, that would seem to be the common sense solution?
-
I've got to say after reading this thread the people running Scumdee make our BoD's seem like choirboys, that couldn't be accurate, could it?
-
Sadly, can't make it on Tuesday night , but after this draw I wish to God I could. I know we have a terrible record in Perth, and they no doubt are already chuckling about an easy route into the semis; but a win on Tuesday night could be a lifesaver financially for this football club.

Rangers Team To Face Celtic On Sunday
stillresigned replied to crazy davie's topic in Main Jags forum
A jokes fair enough, but we certainly don't want or need any attempt at tit for tat tokenism on here or anywhere else in fact. Particularly, when it so obviouslly involves historical subjects that are still controversial and cause needless argument. This is after all is a football forum. BTW crazy davie's post was sheer class and if anyone can't see the difference between them, then I aint gonna try to ecplain it!
