  1. When I showed up today I dreaded it, the pitch looked awful, thought it was going to be a long day. How wrong was I! Excellent performance, against poor opposition right enough, but still, passing and movement was best I've seen it in a while, constant threat, Doolan and Buchanan ran them ragged could have both had hat tricks. Fox had nothing to do, apart from the penalty, which was the most blatant dive I've ever seen in my life. Paton Archie Robbo Boyle all solid, Paton did well in tandem with Flannigan on the right, who scored an absolute peach, think Rowser at Livi few seasons back. Hodge had a frustrating day, but still worked hard. Rowser was immense, non stop engine. Erskine had one of his best performances in a Thistle jersey, particularly pleased he got 90 minutes. Dooland and Buchanan look like they had an understanding, Buchanan could have had 4, missed 2 one on ones with their keeper, so he still has to sharpen up, but he still played well. Doolan held it up well, and was a constant threat. Could have easily ended 10-1 today. Delighted and so proud the youngsters came on and scored, as McCall said in the after match reaction, really is the icing on the cake. Fraser has a good build for a centre forward, and young Campbell also looked handy on the right wing, both took their goals very well. Roll on Tuesday, bring on the Falkirk!!
  2. Cannot argue with Super Danny Lennon, I love that man. But Arthur, Archie, Craigan, Marko, Trigger, Hardie, would run him close.
  3. I actually really liked Billy Gibson, even before Peterhead. Was disappointed when McCall punted him.
  4. Support for the man in possession is woeful, we have next to no movement off the ball in an attacking sense, or in any sense to be honest. I took my good lady to her first ever game against Ross C 2 weeks ago, never been to a game of football in her life, and she just kept saying "they are just standing still" "no1 is supporting them up front when they get the ball". It was embarrassing, I was just like "yeah I know, we are shite". If a novice who's never been to a game can see it, why cant mccall.
  5. The game was so bad MOTM was given to the player who did least wrong. Very easy game for Fox, comfortable saves/crosses etc, nothing spectacular. He has got two cracking feet, kicks first time on both sides getting good height and distance. Sign him up
  6. Poor performance from an attacking point of view. Careless misplaced/overhit passes when we got into good positions cost us the chance of 3 points. Fox was solid, need to get him until end of season at least. Paton worked hard and supported well in attack and defended well too. Kinniburgh was poor I thought before he was subbed, Archie was ok, Jackie was his usual self, classy and read the game like a book, strolled through it. Boyle was anonymous. Rowson worked hard and got into good positions from an attacking sense but his radar was a bit off with regards to finding a jags player with a pass from time to time. Cairney was poor and rightly substituted. Thought Hodge actually played ok, some of his first time passes he pings over the top for someone to run onto are class, just a pity we haven't got anyone to run onto them! Erskine played ok I thought, was marked tightly so difficult for him, but I wasn't disappointed with him. Donnelly showed some classy touches but was as threatening as a new born baby. Buchanan played well and showed real desire when he came on, worth a start next week on that showing. Balatoni and Flannigan had no real positive/negative effect on game. We aren't creating enough, and when we do, we don't have the quality/ruthlessness to finish the chances. Defensively I'm not too concerned, although I do find the omission of Robbo in favour of Kinniburgh puzzling. And whilst McNamara gives us that extra security at the back, the extra player is missed further up the pitch. Really struggle to see us beating many teams, 0-0 may become a regular scoreline this season.
  7. Not a gig, but I went to every home qualifier and friendly (including miserable defeats to Denmark and Rep Ire!) only to get so fecking scunnered with Berti Vogts that I punted my ticket to the home play off against Holland cos I was so sick of Vogts. Felt so happy we'd won but distraught I hadn't been there after watching the shite I had put up with for months!
  8. did no-one notice conroy go shits at erskine on saturday when he shouted at him for a penalty on saturday they have obviously decided to give as good as they get after going on strike
  9. I can see why Sid was left on, to hold the ball up and help keep possession. But Doolan is hopeless at holding ball up, thought Grehan would have been better at that stage. Yes, Doolan can run in behind etc, but a couple of times he had a chance and made an arse of it. Good honest player is Doolan, but a bit powderpuff at times.
  10. I took my girlfriend to her first jags game today, i am giving her an honorary post to mark the occassion...over to fiona... I am not the most avid football fan BUT I though Thistle played well given they were a man down for most of the game (honestly I missed why we had a man sent off). However, they did seem to have concrete in their boots when it came to headers , and no support when the ball was passed forward! The goalie (Fox) earned his money today - many a good save made! Honestly seemed like Thistle had several poor ref decisions against them and consequently possibly lucky to have drawn and not lost! Would like to see Thistle start the game with fire in their belly!!
  11. surely this guy should be banned from running a club again?
  12. Shocker of a decision. That Mike Ashley is a total idiot he does not have the first clue about football. Newcastle are a diddy mid table premiership club what does he expect? Alan "relegation" Pardew isn't going to do any better.
  13. Ok I know this is a strange topic, but thought I'd ask on the forum incase! My dad knew a guy from Macedonia around 1970, he had played with FC Skopje in the 60s, his name was Jovce Milosevski. He worked over here for a couple of years then moved back. My dad is doin my nut in past few years bringing this up every now and then trying to get back in touch. Tried everything from Facebook to Friends reunited - not sure they are the most popular websites in Macedonia. He tried writing to the embassy etc who replied but basically says theres nothing they can do. I've tried on Macedonian football forums (english speaking strangely) to see if someone on that end would have any clue. I know it's a complete waste of time but just thought i would ask incase one of u has like a macedonian friend or somethin who'd maybe know a way of gettin in touch or even puttin an add in the paper over there! Its been like 40 years ive told the old git to move on but he's determined he'll track him down one way or the other! Any help would be well recieved!
  14. have to sit through weeks of this strictly come dancing pish and listen to "i'd love to be able to dance like that" all the time, so going to get her lessons. she lives in newton mearns, i'm in dennistoun, so there's no real geographical preference of where we would go, just anywhere glasgow-ish u guys know of and would recommend? any help would be greatly appreciated! cheers
  15. I've got an assignment due 3rd dec, then i'll be buying it. cannot wait! loved the last one. also in the middle of playing oblivion the elder scrolls, same idea and layout as fallout, great game, put it on hold the now till assignments due. also cant wait to play new fable, new cod, and then dead space 2, going to be a great few months after this bloody essay is finished. plus the new football manager out tomorrow. happy days!
  16. Absolutely disgusting start to the season. Losing two league games in a row to these Junior teams is a sackable offence. McCall is completely devoid of ideas on how to motivate this team and organise them. He won't resign and we can't fire him, so I am worried to say the least for the rest of the season. I can't see how I'll be back this season, too expensive to follow this shite when you don't get any enjoyment anymore.
  17. if we were to beat ayr united in the challenge cup quarter final, do you think halliwell would enjoy the semi?
  18. Really pleased with that performance, not a failure in the team, fantastic effort and commitment in every position, well organised, really enjoyable performance. Thought the 3 man midfield was superb, Flannigan looks like a real find, the player Hodge should be, comfortable on the ball, always looking to create. Rowser was immense, as was Cairney. Grehan played well, won lots of flick ons, and was excellent in setting up the goal, has shades of Trigger about him, the raw ingredients. Buchanan is frustrating, sclaffing the ball all the time, doesnt strike it cleanly. Gets in the positions, hopefully he'll come good.
