  1. Seems the 2nd round is sectional as well. We can only get Airdrie, Annan, East Stirlingshire, Morton, QOS, Queen's Park or Stenny. Home against any lower league would do... NORTH/EAST SECTION (8 Teams) ARBROATH COWDENBEATH EAST FIFE FALKIRK FORFAR ATHLETIC MONTROSE RAITH ROVERS RANGERS SOUTH/WEST SECTION (8 Teams) AIRDRIE UNITED ANNAN ATHLETIC EAST STIRLINGSHIRE MORTON PARTICK THISTLE QUEEN OF THE SOUTH QUEEN’S PARK STENHOUSEMUIR
  2. Was in Peep Peeps one night on a stag do - dear me! My mate had this 'conversation' in the toilet: Jakey: 'See that Scooby Doo?' Mate:'Err, aye...' Jakey: 'Is that a real dug?' Mate: 'Eh, dunno.' Jakey: 'Aye. Thought as much' We then went to another pub down the harbour that had what can only be described as the dirtiest (any sense of the word) stripper you've ever seen... Manky wee area.
  3. On the Twitter that they have the licence and they're celebrating 'no conditions' - but I think that works both ways which means the old EBT investigation may appear...
  4. Haha - why's he threatening the SPL that he might quit? In fact, why's he threatening anybody? This is pure drivel - I see they're now rumoured to have offered Dean Shields £7k a WEEK! In the 3rd? Someone should have a word with them to suggest it's not the smartest move to start paying silly money BEFORE they are granted a bleedin' membership! THIS is what p*ssed everybody off in the first place! This and some of their hideous fans' delusion...
  5. Oh well, at the end of the day I don't care who they sign (unless they start stealing our players). Not that I pay attention to the signings of Montrose, Queen's Park or Stranraer, so why would I care about Sevco Scotland?
  6. I see they're all salivating at signing Black & Craig Beattie. Wouldn't have thought a 3rd Division club could afford them... Is it just me or is this the start of administration part 2? Why would half decent players want to play for AT LEAST 3 years outwith the 'top flight' of Scottish football? Must be about the money, which really begs the question, where is it coming from? Total joke. Again.
  7. Yep. Bench him. We've got a decent squad, let's not break it up now. Anyway, I'd imagine he'd want to actually be paid his wages as opposed to just promised them...
  8. Brilliant. Assume it's a foregone conclusion that they're getting a license then? I'd love it if we got them at Firhill & pumped them rotten.
  9. Conspiracy theories please! http://www.scottishfootballleague.com/news/article/sclc-first-round-draw/
  10. Are pre-season games available on season tickets?
  11. Or something 'fishy' being uncovered in other teams accounts, thus letting the 7th placed Sevco to be promoted. Wouldn't surprise me.
  12. Yep, totally agree. I think there's a bit of saving their own jobs etc as well mind... Total farce, the lot of it.
  13. This is getting boring! The fact remains that even if Newco were to be in Div 3, it's STILL AGAINST THE RULES! Maybe someone should point that out? They don't have 3 years accounts and the fact it's even being entertained at such a late stage is beyond me. IF they go into Div 3 then I suppose I could just about understand it (not support it), but a 'club' that can't meet the entry requirements for Div 3 should NEVER be allowed to skip into Div 1. I don't see this being over by Friday (wish it was, but I just don't see it) and as per usual, everybody else has to suffer because of the OF (or whatever they're now called). Time for decisive action or we won't be playing the Ramsden's Cup games in a couple of weeks, let alone starting the season proper in time. Anyway, at least I've booked flights for the Clasico in October - might be the first football I see next season if we're still playing 'he said, she said' in this country...
  14. PLEASE let it be Thistle who cast this public vote!
  15. I think it could be very effective IF (note the big IF) everybody does it. I'm happy to spend the £ as I want Thistle to succeed and to be fair, the fans have supported the bars since day 1. Anyway, I honestly think that we will say NO. Just a hunch...
  16. Totally agree. I've bought 2 new season tickets & took out a larger advert in the programme as I was so optimistic about the season ahead - even though I know I won't be able to go all that often. If Newco hit the 3rd Div or even disappear, I think there will be a significant increase in gates in the 1st Div next season. Hopefully Thistle will do well - even if we don't win it, a chance coming into the last few weeks of the season would do me! As I said, I don't want to hurt Thistle, just highlight the nonsense IF it happens.
  17. What then? Even if Thistle vote against it, it could still happen. I think that the clubs that oppose it could make a very strong point... Let's face it, the only reason that they would be in Div 1 is because the SPL want them back ASAP and expect them to win the league. Let's give them that. Immediately after KO against Newco is every game, the opposition should just walk off. 3-0 Newco - everybody is happy. It would highlight the farcical sense of 'competition'. Only problem with this is the fans who turned up would be out of pocket (I mean Div 1 fans - don't care about Newco fans). The other thing, is for ALL Div 1 fans to walk out at some point (maybe with 12 mins to go - Club 12 and all that) - I honestly think that with the current level of anger around that this would result in total walkout - again, would highlight the nonsense. I don't want to damage Thistle but we need to show the ridiculous nature of these measures - if they want our game to be a farce, let's give them one.
  18. I agree - what's the point of next season if they are included? No doubt they'll keep most of their players and romp the league. We've got a decent squad and without expecting promotion, I'm the most confident I've been for a few years. We need a better league system, but regardless of the system, they would need to start at the bottom.
  19. The thing that's annoying me now is that the SPL vote is at least 2 weeks away (they need notice - surely they know what's going on!!!) and football in Scotland is in a state of limbo until then. Why can't they meet tomorrow and have the vote? Waiting for the sake of waiting is simply absurd, but I suppose unsurprising. They're talking about 2nd July - the Ramsden's Cup is on the 28th! How are teams meant to be able to prepare, sign players etc? It's a total farce.
  20. I agree with you - I don't want them 'dead' as such, just that it needs to be addressed NOW as it will happen again. And again. And again. The punishment needs to fit the crime, and if they're swanning about, signing other team's best players (a la Motherwell back in the day) then a rule needs to be made - and made very clear - that it isn't acceptable. You're right, it wouldn't take much for Thistle to suffer, but with good management (e.g. living within our means), we'll be fine. And even if we're not, when was the last time we poached a player from a rival for more £? In fact, I don't ever remember that happening! I could be wrong though...
  21. I just find it really sickening that they are up to their old tricks again (signing the best from the rest) despite only just being out of admin. A signing ban actually makes sense here - Dundee seem to keep doing it. They should've gone to 3rd Div in my opinion - especially after the SECOND time!!! We never actually went as far as administration and, to my knowledge, paid all of our creditors. As a Jags fan I often take the moral high ground, and in this case, justifiably so. R*angers & Dundee can GTF. Total farce of a situation as the Raith fella says.
  22. Interesting piece in The Herald today that I think should be at least listened to before the powers that be do anything... Very fair point I'd say. I can't believe (well, I can) that Dundee are at it again - they truly have no shame! Dundee bid lacks merit, says Raith chief Turnbull Hutton, the Raith Rovers director, believes the prospect of Dundee replacing Rangers in the Scottish Premier League illustrates the dismal state of Scottish football's finances. Should a newco Rangers fail to be granted entry to the top flight after a vote by SPL clubs then they would potentially be forced to start life in the Irn-Bru third division. That could lead to a shuffling among Scottish football's divisions, with Dundee – who finished second in the first division last season – already tipped to take Rangers' place in the top flight. "You now have the prospect of a team which has been in administration twice replacing a club going to the wall; don't try and tell me the game in Scotland is fine," said Hutton. "Dundee did well to stay in the first division but the bottom line is they paid six pence in a pound to all their creditors and cleared all their debts. Other clubs could look to go down that route – take the hit and rebuild – but choose not to; now Dundee will get the chance to replace another club which was mismanaged in the top flight." Turnbull's discontent follows news that Dundee have signed two of his club's players this summer, in Iain Davidson and John Baird. "It sticks in the craw to be outbid by a club which has suffered serious financial problems in the recent past," said Hutton. "We will just continue to live within our means and struggle on."
  23. It was on Reporting Scotland yesterday - haven't seen it online.
  24. My take on the vote... Aberdeen - NO C*ltic - NO (R*angers fans think they will say yes, but I don't see how they can) Dundee Utd - NO Hibs - NO Ross Co - NO (I think that they're a good, well run club and will want to be able to compete within their means) ICT - YES Hearts - NO Motherwell - NO (check their forums - there would be a lynching if they vote yes) R*ngers - YES (although nothing would surprise me - who would vote? D&P?) St Mirren - NO St Johnstone - YES Killie - YES So, by my 'logic' it's 8 to NO and 4 to YES, which means cheerio. On another 'votey' note, all SFL clubs vote on who to allow in - should we vote YES to them?
  25. Doncaster quoted as saying R*ngers will have a vote. Quite how, I have no idea, but I'm sure they will get one. If you look at the forums of other SPL clubs, the vast majority share the view of most on here - NO to any newco. If the chairman have any sense, it will be a procession and they will be disposed of. IF...
