  1. I remember when I first came across that. Anyone who plays for them must feel like a right son of a miner! I also hear that they used to be owned by Ken Bates when he was a teenager.
  2. The thing going for Hodge at the moment is that he does provide defensive left sided cover when Archie and Jaggy Mac are injured and Maxwell slow. If Boyle were to pick up a niggle we'd have little choice but to slot Hodge to left back.
  3. Latest episode available: here Our roving reporter takes a look at the Young Thistle scheme in addition to the usual pre and post match reaction.
  4. I shot off too soon. Made a bit of a mess of it.
  5. Raced to the Jackie Husband stand with a world-class fist pump. Anyone would think that HE had scored a league winning goal. Absolutely brilliant to see.
  6. Halliwell was absolutely brilliant in reaction to the goal. The man's a boner fide Jag!
  7. The difference I think might be that Conrad as a centre back really gets up-field, meaning that having an extra defender doesn't matter as much in terms of midfield loss, but also it provides that extra security for Boyle and Paton to have a go. Dundee didn't play badly, but we were still slicing them open with some really neat stuff. McCall deserves credit, but the execution and application also played a big part in our victory today.
  8. Extremely pleased with that performance. Only Buchanan's finishing and Maxwell's first-half pension book being the causes for concern. Boyle was (by First Division standards) extremely excellent. Absolutely delighted that he got on the scoresheet. Special mention to Halliwell's world class reaction to the goal! Paton used his left foot THREE times and it was good 2 times! I think I might faint! Robbo was solid and Conrad totally played McMenamin out of the game. Between Boyle and Flannigan the dangerous pace of Griffiths was totally rendered null and void bar one time in the first half when the counter-attacking delivery to Griffiths wasn't good enough. Paton and Cairney totally nullified Harkins, Rowson made life difficult for Adams, and Grehan, whilst not particularly brilliatnt, made things really generically awkward for the Dundee midfield and defence. Buchanan needs to sharpen up on his shooting and isn't quite anticipating Grehan's movement well enough yet, but I hope that comes with time. Rowson was his usual nutjob terrier. We can be really pleased with today. Not merely because of a pleasing result but because of some genuine application, grit and playing for the jersey. Boyle is a totally different player when leeching off a bit of confidence. I think McCall might just be right. Between him and Flannigan, Dundee just couldn't cope at all. Flannigan's directness in comparison with the rest of the team's patient creativeness totally confused them, and I think we have a formidable left flank pairing in the making. Delighted.
  9. The discrepancy is because of the way the two figures are reached. Once you join the Trust (by paying a subscription fee) £1 goes to your purchase of a share in the Supporters' Association. That stays with you forever until either you contact the Trust wishing to cease membership or the Trust otherwise writes to inform you that due to non-payment of annual fees your membership has ceased. The number of people who have paid a subscription at some point in the past and who haven't either requested or been told that their membership is to be ceased is a figure of circa 800. The number of membership subscriptions paid in the season 2009-10 as of March is 331. As has been pointed out this isn't the actual number of "active" members if you want to call it that, because Family memberships account for multiple persons.
  10. If you morphed Doolan, Grehan and Flannigan together you'd probably end up with a player that still looked like Flannigan, so that's hardly a surprise.
  11. Seems to vindicate my view that the keeper did intentionally use his arm outside the box to block. Rowson's goal was nice.
  12. Dairy me... can no thread avoid descending into puns these days?
  13. The SFL may have it scheduled for the Sunday as the Friday is an International Fixture, and it might be inconvenient for travelling fans. That said it could be that they were just a bit daft and failed to realise that unlike last year the international fixture isn't on the Saturday. I'm hedging my bets on the latter.
  14. Renewal reminders are being sent out shortly with official notice of the AGM, but people can renew at any point. If people want to attend the AGM, they should make sure they renew at some point before it.
  15. Forfar Athletic v Ross County Partick Thistle v Ayr United Queen of the South v East Fife Peterhead v Stenhousemuir Another home game. To be held on Sunday 5th September. I'm guessing either a 2 or 3pm kick-off: probably the latter.
  16. On the other hand elimination before the final would probably see us fail to cover the cost of Tuesday night's electricity bill!
  17. Slightly off-topic, but this is the 1000th topic of the new forum
  18. There's been a lot of discussion about the way forward for the Jags Trust on here of late, but if we as a support want to make good our intentions we need to be united. The Trust is what its members make it, and if you want to shape it into something different, the first thing you can do is make sure that you join/renew or rejoin. This is really easy to do through PayPal on the Trust's website, and I'd urge you to all to join in time for the AGM not only to hold the Trust to account, but also to strengthen its mandate moving forward as a voice of the fans, by informing and involving more and more of those traipsing along to Firhill. If you want to join the Trust, click here.
  19. You know I saw a familiar username browsing the forum this evening, and his appearance happily coincides with an article on the OS name dropping Espanyol... Your secret's safe with me Ji... oh
