  1. Where did you hear that mate? One of only 2 players who Airdrie fans rated for their team last season. Im surprised at the shaking head figure, we are not going to get anyone higher than the lower division and McLaughlan has experience of the first divison, the fact he has been a standout in rubbish teams means he could improve if he plays in a slightly better team. Look at DUnfermline they got Cardle from Airdrie, McGregor from Clyde etc both being in rubbish teams both have done pretty well for them. Look at McKenna from Airdrie who ended up at Queen of the South. I would rather have McLaughlan who I doubt will be on a fortune than an unproven Junior. Can contribute a few goals from midfield as well and is not afraid to take shots from outside the 18 yard line(which maybe a few of our players could take note). Everyone is entitled to their opinion but Scott gets my full backing if he signs and ever so slightly this is a bit more of a positive signings than some old journeyman or an untried Junior since McLaughlan has just turned 25.
  2. Of course its purely coincidental aint it that we have no new signings since the board said we cant make any till July? Maybe its them you should be telling to get their finger out
  3. Personally I think if we let Maxwell go to Livingston we save a bit money. Get McNamara as Assistant Manager. Archibald who as much experience as Maxwell and is already on a contract for next season can help train the young lads who are going to be defenders also Archibald wont be playing for the first few months of the season anyway so it at least gives him something to do. Personally I didnt agree with McCalls decision to resign Archibald but fact is it has been done and he is under contract for next season. I dont really agree with his decision to resign Maxwell either if that is what happens. Dont have a problem at all with the Donnelly/McNamara resigning somehwat ironic considering my attitude to Donnelly this time last year on the forums
  4. Well done Danny, throughly deserves his chance at the big time and I am sure will be a credit to St Mirren. Wonder if we can organise a friendly with St Mirren to replace the Clyde game.
  5. No I criticise him for the likes of Hamilton, Lennon and Lovell(though everyone thought they would be great signings partly the reason they werent was the players themselves) Keegan, MCstay and several others were poor as well. Regarding Hodge, Doolan and Erskine they will be with us for next season so I will reserve judgement on them for all we know they may come good. While all 3 have been average they certainly ahve not been in the wrost ever duds and the 2 Junior guys were pretty much on peanuts and not in any way a waste of a wage like Lennon, Lovell, Hamilton etc
  6. I think you will find by Tuffey's standards he had a very mediocre performance in a coupl eof games ie Dundee away it was his blunder which cost us the one goal which resulted in us losing, against Morton when they scored the one goal in extra time he put his hand up(after the game and fair play for him doing so) to admit he ws to blame. So this year he didnt save us from a relegation battle as we were not involved in one. Again you didnt go to any games so how would you have known how well Tuffey played? We were atrocious since January completely agree, statistically Raith ROvers and maybe someone else were even worse than us in the league
  7. Plenty of signings over the last 25 years have been torture by any Thistle Manager with the exception of Lambie, its strange how kni never mentions any of these. In terms of bad signings McCall has made some decent ones as well while some have been admittedly cr@p. However he has brought in 200k in fees by the selling of 2 of his players, theres a chance that a lot more may be brought in from guys like Cairney, McBeth in the future yet McCall was the only Manager that Kni had a go at with regards to bad signings, that coupled with his generally moaning at him on most posts he makes would indicate in my opinion that he is desperate to see the guy sacked.
  8. And so your tiresome anti McCall crusade continues. Compared to a lot of the other Thistle Managers we have had over the last 25 years or so his signings have not been that bad.
  9. When are you going to get real. Last season the board left it pretty much till July to allow McCall to sign funds by that time a lot of the better players had gone and we were left with dross. Yes he has to take the blame for signing Corcoran, Hamilton etc etc. However its always one sided with you I dont recall you praising any of his good signings. 200k for Harkins and Twaddle that pretty much kept this team in existence. Perhaps if the board had given him the money before last July we may not have had to rely on signing the likes of Hamilton, Boyle etc. But then again you were calling for him to be sacked, yes lets waste 100k on sacking him and bankrupt the club. As for this season well its not McCall who is asking not to make signings till July its the board. Have you been following this club for the last 20 years? You will find that at least half the palyers that have palyed for this club in 20 years have not turned out to be great, we are a first divison mid table club we are not an SPL club. In fact before McCall took over we were more becoming a second division club. As for the proposed player coaches -Donnely who I was a critic in the past scored 10 goals last season, McNamara - was the standout player in the 3 games he played. Their main responsibility will eb training up the young lads you know McBeth etc who already has Bolton interested and might get some money in for the club or turn out to be one hell of a player for us, plus theres a few others Burns etc who might just amke it. But then again what wuould you know you never go to any games you are always sitting on your computer and then calling for McCall to be sacked online when it is finished. Maybe you would be better following the Old Firm with that attitude.
  10. I dont know there always seems to be plenty of people on the board of Directors
  11. Well done Jonny and Lauren Hopefulyl another little Jags fan brought into the world
  12. Well its the countdown to that time of year the West End Festival where our glorious colours are worn throughout the day in Glasgow's west end. 3 years ago we absolutely stuffed the Old Infirm and any other teams football colours, with fans wearing all sorts of Partick Thistle tops 2 years ago we did the same, with one drunken Rangers fan coming up to me and saying he had never seen anything like it where his teams shirts were well in the minority. Last year we faced quite a lot of competition with sadly an awful lot more Celtic and Rangers tops on display but still not enough to beat us. This year lets make sure we are very much the popular team on West End Festival day and get all our Jags tops produly displayed on the 13th. Incidentally anyone know if the club is doing a stall this year? Always good publicity for the club.
  13. Well pleased for Danny and wish him every sucess for the future apart from when any of his teams play us Think Willie McStay seems a certainty for either the S Mirren or the Killie post, even if Danny doesnt get the St Mirren post he is bound to be in with a shout with the Killie post. Been surprised not to see John McGlyn linked with anything, he's a very talented Manager. Dont whatlds for Jimmy Calderwood.
  14. There had been a couple of Airdrie fans who had linked us with Bobby Donnelly but apparently he is off to Ayr United. The Airdrie Advertiser has also linked us with Scott McLaughlan from Airdrie who I think would be a decent signing, but if we are not going to be making any signings till July then surely some other team will sign him. I see Eddie Malone is still available, quite a versatile player and able to fill the left back position that Kni was alluding to though again if we are having to wait till July again he will likely be another who will be off the radar by then.
  15. Sad news. Rip John. Thoughts go to his family at this very difficult time.
  16. Everyone above has covered what I was going to say. A gem of a guy and a big loss to the club.
  17. To me common sense woul dhave indicated that the money for McNamara and Donnelly would be from the wages of the recently released mcNamara and Donnelly. That the wages for Hinchcliffe would be covered by the recently released Hinchcliffes wages. That the wages for Maxwell as Assistant Manager would be covered by the wages that were formerly allocated to Assistant Manager Davie Irons. That would mean the new signings would be from the wages that have been freed up the releases (some of them quite a while ago) of - Jim Hamilton, Ricky Little, Steve Lovell, Steven McKeown, Martin Corrigan, Ryan Conroy, Bryn Halliwell, Greg Shields and Ian Maxwell the player (since Ian Maxwell would be taken the wage formely of Davie Irons). Also the freed up wage as a result of Jonny Tuffey moving on would also to me have also been used to bring in new players. If we got rid of Corcoran and Boyle they would represent even more extra. Too me that would seem like common sense, unfortunately the way these cutbacks are this doesnt look like being the case.
  18. hopefully can get McNamara and Donnelly resigned. As previously emntioned by a few othrs was hoping McNamara would be Assistant Manager as well then there would be less of a need for Maxwell. I am aware he would offer experience to the younger lads, but bearing in mind we have Archibald who is already signed up for another year, I personally disagreed with the decision to keep him on but fact is he is here for another season and with his injury is likely to be sitting in the stand for a while, therefore surely he could be suing his experience to monitor the young lads, pass on advice etc.
  19. Good post Hamilton Jag, have you thought to email the club about these details. They may not be aware of what happens with the Ckyde season ticket so worth emailing them to give them some ideas.
  20. If the board offered to match the amount spent on season tickets pound for pound then Im sure this would be a great bit of PR.
  21. I dont think it will be as easy as you think. Clyde have made a couple of reasonable signingsand got Willie Sawyers on a new contract plus the added edge of it being a derby means it will be far from easy
  22. Generally the Alba cup sees the club loses money with attendances about 1000 to 1500. A home tie against Clyde may get us higher than 2000 and some in for hospitality as well so there is at least one plus point.
  23. Fantastic news Well done David and the rest of the team
