It almost feels that Raith is making offers to any player they consider there rivals to be interested in - we have at least been paper linked with Shaun Byrne, Lee Ashcroft, Dom Thomas - they appear to be linked with them. Whispers that they are after Tiffoney as well

Hamilton is on a 3 year deal at Raith which was a good move by them. They have offered Byrne a permanent contract for the summer as he is unlikely to have much of a future at Dundee. Agree with you about the players we lost although would he intersting if we could monitor what’s happening with them for next season. Turner is only on loan to Raith, will Tiffoney want more game time than he is getting at Dundee. Big if but if united don’t go up will they have to do a massive release of players or will the American owners just carry on paying extortionate wages and racking up huge debts

With the squad Raith have assembled I think they will finish at worst second this season and if they are still in championship then second next season as well

Murray has just signed a 3 year deal at Raith. That doesn’t suggest to me in any way he is running out of time. Let’s face it if Raith don’t get promoted this season they will likely be favourites next season. if anyone is likely to be on borrowed time by not getting promotion then it’s likely to be Jim Goodwin

Neilson is away in the summer and both Ashcroft and o Reilly are upgrades on Muirhead and Williams. Muirhead was signed purely as backup but necessity has meant we have to play him. O Reilly is possibly a replacement for him. I could see Ashcroft as someone in for Williams who may want away or is not someone that Doolan thinks is good enough to be challenging for promotion. I’m sure Ashcroft can also cover at right back - we could lose other defensive players in addition to Neilson out of contract eg McMillan not signed a new deal, someone bidding for Milne etc As I say for me O Reilly is an upgrade on Muirhead and Ashcroft would be one for Williams

Ross County might well have told raith they can only have him for 6 months as it’s a loan

We do have a problem scoring against Dundee United. it’s only a loan to Raith and several of our midfield are out of contract in the summer so maybe if he’s available in the summer we can enquire

Hopefully we can sign Byrne which would definitely help address that problem

Given he is better than any midfielder we have- he is what we needed. I understand it’s only a loan though so hopefully their money bags run out before then

They have just made 2 decent signings including wotherspoon over the last couple of days. I’m sure they said they didn’t need any more attacking options. Even if they reigned in their spending and I am sceptical they will then i am sure they could still easily outbid us for Thomas

Scoring goals was a problem against Dundee United but. Anyway this looks an excellent signing and we know he is definitely match fit as well

I’ve been critical of him and he didn’t have that much to do in the game but at 1-0 Sneddon produced a valuable save. Had taken a deflection from one of our players that could have went anywhere but Jamie provided an important save

As said Thomas would be an upgrade on what we have. Alston, McInroy, Lyon and Robinson are all decent but they are not the same quality as Don Thomas. 2 could be away in summer. Can we guarantee Robinson will be injury free when he has so far not proven to be and Lyon has still a bit to do
