  1. Hopefully an open goal like he missed at Dingwall
  2. I actually think one of McCalls mistakes was loyalty to certain players such as Bannigan as well
  3. Alston point is fair enough. But could we not have also sacrificed Bannigans wage to have attempted to keep the others? Or is it an necessity we have to keep him long, long after he is past his best?
  4. How much of a gulf in budget is there between us and Airdrie, Raith, Spartans, Peterhead and Falkirk because we really seemed to struggle against them too
  5. None of the 3 strips have been lucky yet. But all 3 are magnificent
  6. Fair enough- we should have bucked the trend then especially given that I doubt Sneddon is particularly cheap given he has been here 6 years already
  7. Even the re-signing of Sneddon fits this criteria. What championship team can afford 3 goalkeepers. Mitchell and Sneddon are similar in that both can produce decent saves but also have bombscare moments. But given Mitchell had a year left on his contract then obviously he was still here- so why waste money on resigning Sneddon- he’s been here 6 years and can anyone really say he has hugely improved? Seems to be yet another cuddly toy decision because someone high up think he is another legend due to length of service etc
  8. Nobody wants him to be sacked. He needs to improve his recruitment though- a lot of it has been shocking this summer
  9. We are weak all over the park this season. I hope Doolan is seeking Connor Smith in tynecastle right now and begging him to sign on loan for us. While I realise our defence is particularly weak - I have little confidence in Dowds, question the signing of Robinson, Wesley McDonalds stats are questionable as is his attitude according to some Hartlepool fans. If Graham has hardly been outstanding recently
  10. Questioning signings have been made this season too A guy who barely played for Killie given a 2 year deal plus many of the others really don’t appear to be great. Why do our signings seem to need time to gel but likes of Raith who have made numerous new signings seem to be doing fine. How long do we give them time to gel- a year maybe 2? Plenty of players here from last year not doing great either Our transfer window looks to me so
  11. It’s okay we have kept Bannigan on unnecessary for years- we will ensure he is kept on again for many years by appointing him as manager one day
  12. He’s been a long term player for the jags no one would argue with that. he was set to leave for Aberdeen- completely understandable as it would be far more money and a step up. he then got badly injured- didn’t play for about a year and a half- club stuck by him. Even in the following couple of years only played bit parts - club stuck by him. From demotion to league one league one onwards he has not been plagued thankfully by injuries but he has not in my opinion been absolutely brilliant, good certainly but not brilliant. Again to reiterate the club has more than stuck by him - however we are not a charity who can afford to keep him here indefinitely because he has been here a long time
  13. Don’t know if Raith Rovers are or not on a higher budget-their manager has definitely signed players we should have been looking at
  14. We are not the only club in the division to have lost players - in fact every club in the division has. If we are a club on transition in many ways so are other clubs having to bring in new players- including our opponents yesterday Airdrieonians lost one of their best strikers during the summer. I agree our budget has been reduced but no way do I think it’s anywhere near as low as Airdries or others. We actually brought in more new players last summer than this. It is a fact I agree we have brought in new players and our budget is reduced. But it is a fact plenty of other clubs in the championship have lost key players and had to bring in new ones. Also I still wouldn’t be surprised if we are the third or fourth highest budget in the division
  15. Yep agree completely Jim - it’s the cuddly toy all over again. And by the time his 2 year deal is up he will be either offered a new deal automatically or be offered a coaching post no matter how good or bad he is at it
  16. I’ve questioned Bannigan being given a 2 year deal numerous times 9 of the players are here from last season- there’s plenty of other teams in transition in the championship as well Theres not really any excuses for a professional and as experienced a footballer as Alston to be looking so unfit
  17. Beginning to think that’s an understatement- it looks similar to Archie’s when we were last in the championship- like it was organised by raffle and we picked out names like Sean McGinty etc
  18. Everything will be okay though we have an injury prone 37 year old coming in - everything will be fine (not)
  19. I agree we have lost some very good players but regarding new signings clicking- this is the same for all teams including our opposition today. As I say I don’t think a lot of the new signings are good enough. can’t believe Bannigan was given a new 2 year deal- we really are the cuddly toy
  20. Sandy you could say the same if every team in this division- we are not the only team with lots of new players. personally while we have less of a budget our recruitment has not been good enough for a large part
  21. Is it not supposed to be Mulgrew who is more a CB
  22. The jury is very much out. Nothing to suggest Robinson is an upgrade on Turner. Nothing to suggest McDonald is an upgrade on Tiffoney. In fact it could be argued they are downgrades. Williams possibly better than Brownlie but still looks he has got a lot of mistakes in him. Neilson for Holt we can wait and see I suppose. Holt was great for us, Neilson is highly regarded.
  23. Kieran should be a really good signing - plenty of championship experience and very highly rated as a young player at Aberdeen
