  1. Jeez - not sure where to start on this one but...I totally disagree with the original post. Ross is a real asset to the club. I maybe have a different perspective on account of not having a season ticket. I think we should all realise that there are different types of fans at thistle. In my case - I am a regular attendee for many many years, but I’ve never had a season ticket. Anyway - in my case...me and my old school chums try go to hospitality at least once a season. We’ve done this for about the last 7 or so years. Many of my pals can’t go to football as often as me, but this is our way of having a special day together. It also gets more money into the club. Despite the football being duff last year, the hospitality was better than ever; I went 3 times. A large part of the credit for this must go to Ross. I think he only took over at the start of last season, so folks that are criticising it from earlier should give it another go. Hopspitality won’t be for everyone. In the same way that season tickets are not. Both are important revenue stream for the club, but they might not overlap to everybody’s satisfaction. All I can say is that I think it is better than ever, with great folk behind the scenes with a real passion for the club. Give it a go.
  2. The choice is to give the old firm the colin weir, or the jh stand. Both have merits, and you'll get different opinions. The more puzzling aspect is the shrinkage of the home gate. Even with iniatives like free juveniles. There was no displacement at the Aberdeen game, and their away cross must have just about matched our home numbers. I think in the context of reducing home gates, there is more rationale for giving the bigger stands to the of. I know that in unpalatable but financially it makes more sense. I do think we should be investing more time into discussing how to drive up gates, in general. I think if we only gave the weir stand to rangers on Tuesday; we'd do well to get 4.5k gate. I'm being a bit hypocritical as I can't go on Tuesday!
  3. What does a bus have to do with a match day experience? To be fair - the more worrying aspect about the recent visits of the ugly sisters (and the other home games) is the poor home attendance. You might put that down to a poor match day experience. I don't. I can't explain it. For me - this is the best time I can recall being a thistle supporter. Am not sure why more people don't go. That includes the rangers and Celtic games - I thoroughly enjoyed them; even though I dislike the opposition.
  4. I looked up the stats. He's played 20 times; and we have won twice. I know this is not all down to him, and I recall Gareth bale had even worse stats at spurs. He went on to do okay. But - we are a better team with cerny in the sticks. I don't think anybody is arguing that. I just am not convinced - Scully gave me some real panic attacks last night. i don't feel comfortable criticising though. On a positive note - he's considerably better that that big German we had last year.
  5. Am sorry to disagree. The boy is a good shot stopper but he rarely catches a cross, and really does not give any confidence to our backline. He must have some pretty poor stats - I don't recall any clean sheets or victories when Ryan plays. We were lucky to survive the onslaught at the end last night. The sooner Tomas is back, the better.
  6. It was a definite yellow; as was the first. The ref did take a few seconds to give it, but it was the right decision. Btw - I don't like the concept of being streetwise. The players should be honest. The ref was a bit baffling today but he is not helped by players diving and moaning (today was not that bad to be fair). The bigger focus area for us after today was simple defending. That wee Aberdeen singer had the beating of the Czech boy all day long. He maybe needed a hand. Then christies cross for their winner was super, but he had way too much time. Easy for me to say, I know. The game was mega open today which made for a good spectacle but...our overall defending was much poorer than normal. Oh - and Barton needs to be benched. He's in permanent slow mo (I rate him but there is no denying that he is off form).
  7. I agree with much of what has been said but for me....the only real highlight was seeing banzo back in the team. I'd missed the previous games but it was good to see him back. He faded a bit but I thought his passing was excellent. There was no cutting edge in the team at all though; until dools came on. Also, without having a great game it was apparent that spittal is capable of playing some killer passes. We will need a big step up in the league games. Cotj.
  8. I hope the game goes ahead. It would also be interesting to observe the dynamics between the directors and managers. I think it's fair to say that there is tension between the two clubs. This obviously started when they pinched the management dream team of Jackie and Sid. It further deteriorated when they poached erskine and Paton. Things thawed out a bit when we loaned erskine and muirhead but....I think it's safe to say that United are well pissed off at us for signing erskine back; and also announcing it now. They are stuffed with regards to playing him. I think the lawless stuff is a ploy to get back at us; and try and unsettle one of our better players. It also smacks of desperation. Cotj!
  9. I find christie a very frustrating player to watch. He has super pace, attitude and fitness but....his touch is often poor and more worryingly - he makes very poor runs. He consistently cuts inside (with and without the ball). Very rarely does he make runs that allow his team mates to find a killer ball. That kind of thing should be coached into him. I can't see him being any more than a bit part player this season. Hope I am wrong. This is all about opinions but I am much more hopeful that wee lawless will have a bigger impact this season. Thought he was magic on Wednesday; back to his best.
  10. Mr Toni - I guess the main question is will your daughter benefit from, or need, a season ticket? She can still go free. I
  11. I think this makes sense from the club. In my own case - I have 2 boys that have season passes, but I don't have one. We went to most of the home games. Initially I just got match tickets for them on the day. The stewards then encouraged me to get season tickets for the boys so I did. But I don't think we actually ever sat in our seats, as I was not sure what they were. Also - every game we went to - we always took some of the boys pals with us. It's worth saying that this has really worked as lots of the boys at our school are now converted. I've even converted a few of the dad's too. But we did miss a few games - including celtic at home - and I did wonder if that would financially penalise the club. As they could not sell those seats. Anyway - no problem for me - we just won't get season tickets but try to get to as many games as we can. I just hope it continues to be as much fun. I really think the free kids thing is going to have a longer term benefit and have no issue with this change.
  12. Saw another of our ex managers - sandy Clark, with his son that just signed for rangers.
  13. Thanks Stewarty - I do find it a little odd that this information is not more readily available, given the family-friendly nature of the club.
  14. Hi - sorry if this is posted elsewhere. I am planning on taking my young boys (under 16) and one of their pals to the game on Friday. Where in the jhs is the family section now? Thanks, Blakey
  15. I've just looked up Wikipedia and I was wrong. It seems the ref does decide on the end, and the coin toss only decides the order of the pens. Oh well.
  16. Hmm - still not happy about that. Their goalie would not have got away with his shenanigans at the other end, and it was definitely an advantage to shoot first.
  17. I also wondered about the end for the penalties. I think they usually toss a coin - the winner gets to choose the end, and the loser gets to choose who goes first. We seemed to be disadvantaged by both of those elements.
