  1. What would you deem success for Morton this season ? Really haven't offered much since your return to the division but a lot off positive soundings coming out of Cappielow as to having a good season and may be even challenging for title, certainly Moore wants to be winning the league in next 3 seasons. This french guy Fred getting a lot of good press.
  2. Just read the match preview on OS and McCall has confirmed that due to his performance last week, Ryan will keep his place in the team for tomorrow. Very pleased to here this and I think it sends out the right message to the young lads. Play well and you'll keep your place.
  3. May be we could think of something similar for our home games, given we have the canal behind the ground........the lads could bring out a corpse or a shopping trolly every time we score !!!
  4. Saw this one the ITV news at 6.30 tonight. any of the rest of you seen it ? Over 4 million hits on youtube. It is superb. I'm useless at attaching links but if you get a chance check it out.
  5. I'm going for erskine on left and Flannigan on right.
  6. Don't agree with you regards erskine. It was a massive step up for the lad but I think he did not too bad for his first season. Sure he has to up it for this season but surely he should be given the chance to do that ? I actually forgot bout jackie Mac. I'm prepared to be shot down but if we can keep everyone fit, I don't think the squad is too bad at all. I'd love us to bring in another proven goal scorer but in all probability that ain't gona happen.
  7. I've yet to see Flannigan, but I wouldn't argue with your pick of the midfield. also fully agree with your view on MacBeth. I would, however, start MacBeth on Saturday. Mainly because his confidence will be sky high just now after his goal against Clyde. Hey we are agreeing...........and to think the league season hasn't started yet !! LOL.
  8. From reading McCall's comments yesterday I think he plans to use Iain on the right side of Midfield. I too share the view that I hope Ryan keeps his place in the side , certainly did enough on saturday against Clyde to keep the jersey for Annan. We certainly are starting to get a bit of competition in the midfield.
  9. May be we've all been fooled and they've meant small squad as in height of the players !! LOL.
  10. Paul Scholes is one of the best tacklers of modern times........thats if clattering the player long after the ball has gone qualifies as a tackle !!
  11. why ? Both are young lads. Bannigan in particular looks very lightweight, as does Kieron Burns. Building up some body muscle (while retaining their obvious pace) will benefit the lads in the modern game. Not wanting the lads to resemble wrestlers but building up their strength will be a key part to their success. Same applies to all the U19's but im sure sid and jackie will work on that as well as honing the skills the lads have.
  12. MacBeth as central mid, looks possibly the best of the U19's and Bannigan plays wide left. Both need to bulk up considerably but there is promise there.
  13. Yeah noticed that wasn't mentioned in the article..........just a guess but i'd think given current climate it will be a year.
  14. I'd have liked them to have said who it was. They BOD get a lot of deserved stick but (as I've said more than once) a lot of undeserved stick. Many a fan has posted on here, asking for one or more of them to use some of their own money to the benefit of the club....some have even accused them of fraud. Will the same people come forward and at least give some credit, however small, to this un named member of the BOD ?
  15. Flannigan has signed and an un named director has financed the deal.
  16. I think we all know, or at least should do by now, why hinchy is at the club. He will not be our no. 1 choice for goalkeeper, but his coaching skills seem to be some of the best in the business. We all saw how tuffey improved while Hinchy was coaching him. Given how Halliwell had fallen out the picture at so many clubs since leaving Clyde, he will need a good coach around him to rebuild his confidence and hopefully get him back to how he was performing at clyde, if not even better. We also have two very young goalkeepers at the club, so their developement will be vital. I've watched Hinchy in training sessions and he is very good, oh and no one at the club moans more, hates losing at five a sides !! Hinchy should be judged at Firhill not by what he does on the park but what he does on the training pitch and the developement of the other keepers at the club.
  17. Nope !! But im more scared of what the wife would do to me if i cancelled the holiday !! You woman are not to be messed with.
  18. I suppose one thing to be interested about was how the lad from hearts played. Losing 3 goals in first 45 mins doesn't sound good no matter who played, but agree it was not our full strength side. Also may help in the developement of the young lads in the squad and getting those who have slight knocks closer to match fitness. By reading the match report, it seemed Flannigan had a positive impact in 2nd half and appears we may be signing him today. Not seen the lad play yet but seems to have played reasonably well pre season, reading reports on official site. Also at an age of 22, then hopefully best days ahead of him.
  19. add Annan to the list and i'm the same as you. Really wanted to make the dundee match but hols have got to come first.
  20. right lets get this cleared once and for all. I'm have no issue whatsoever with the club being critised. What i do have an issue with is the the mindless abuse that some dish out. Calling players pr***s, cos they dare have a bad game or a mis placed pass......what's that alla bout. I'd rather try to be constructive with my critisim of the team, management, board. There are some who behave like neds on here and pie and bovril (where i also post from time to time). I see no value in it and so at times i respond. You've shown me no respect whatsoever in the short time ive posted on here, why ? cos i dared to be a bit positive as opposed to just running the club down at every opportunity ? You think you, or others like you are enticing stay away fans to games with your constant drivel of how crap it is....yeah it ain't great, yeah ive followed jags during happier/better times, but ive also followed them through a lot worse. Time a few got a reality check. As for the challenge cup. We ain't gona make much money in it so why not get some home games against teams like Berwick and give us as good a chance as possible to progress as far as we can. Yeah not the most exciting of ties, but i follow the jags not the opposition. Oh, and i did reply to the post AND the poster.
  21. don't go then !! I think it's a great draw if we want to progress to Qtrs.
  22. Yeah could you imagine the carnage for a league game at stamford bridge, upton Park, cup game at Millwall.......oh please let them go !!!
