  1. That's a valid point. Frankly if we had the choice between getting into the SPL and surviving there on transfer deals or continuing in the 1st (and occasionally the 2nd) division with several youth teams that might produce a couple of 1st team squad players now and again, then I would advocate ditching the youth system right now.
  2. One in ten people born in Britain emigrate for a better life elsewhere. Just take a look around this forum and you'll see no shortage of examples from Scotland. For whatever reason, the British union doesn't seem so great that those folk want to live here. I'm not saying that an independent Scotland would definitely be more attractive, but I've talked to people who live abroad who have said it would make the prospect of returning more likely.
  3. So it's up to us all to try to get folk along who normally wouldn't go.
  4. It's always been a mystery to me how we struggle so much compared to teams with lower attendances and presumably less overall income. I wonder what the year-long saving will be from the (welcome) reduced polis presence?
  5. And who leads you to believe that? Somebody who didn't enjoy it for one reason or another? And that person's opinion would make it sh ite?
  6. The Great Unpredic..... Unpredi..... Unpred.... F****d if I know why.
  7. You never know; IF Jackie gets us promotion in his first full season then the tims might just take a chance on him if they ditch the toxic ginger. One thing I feel more sure of is given JM's close relationship to them that that mob will get privileged information on the potential of guys like Aaron Sinclair.
  8. The big error in British nationalists' opposition to the idea that Scotland could be a viable and successful independent nation. There is no "alone" in the world anymore. Nations trade with other nations. Scotland has plenty of resources that it could trade to pay its own way in the world, but it is not allowed to because London takes the revenue and then decides what to hand back. Who's doing the dragging down here?
  9. There is no way around it; unionists are British nationalists, which for some reasons (often different from one individual to another) they see as OK whereas English nationalism or Scottish nationalism is something that must be defeated. I'd love it for Cameron (as some reports suggest) to try to pre-empt Salmond by organizing a referendum on Scottish independence, as I believe that the majority of people in Scotland would vote for exactly that.
  10. Interesting idea, that. Would Clyde consider moving back to Glasgow, albeit in the west end (i.e., on our traditional territory)?
  11. Walking up just before the game started, seeing the JH relatively well populated (for these days) and the decent Morton support in the North Stand, the old stadium looked excellent, or at least those two sides did. What a shame if we are destined to play in a two-sided stadium for ever more. Let's hope that whatever developments take place, there will at least be some kind of spectator space where the bing and the main stand are.
  12. Has that replaced the tasteless John Smith? If so, that is good news indeed.
  13. Soul-less looking "arena": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Stadium_Track_and_Pitch.jpg
  14. They usually go flying high over the bing, or trickle past the post with barely enough strength to reach the barrier. The burgers and drumsticks would be pretty safe!
  15. I feel a bit sorry for those Warriors fans who liked Firhill. Scotstoun Showground will be a dismal place to watch rugby. Edited to add: or will it be re-christened Scotstoun Arena?
  16. ??? "The" is allowed in this thread, isn't it? From Wiki: The Reebok Stadium is the home stadium of English Premier League football club Bolton Wanderers, and is located on the Middlebrook Retail Park in Horwich, in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester.[1] It is commonly known as 'The Reebok'.
  17. Morton are currently top of the league..... with a negative goal difference!! Last night's result gives us the best goal difference in the division. Makes last week's outcome even more frustrating!!
  18. That's either closed-minded dogma, or Westminster propoganda-induced irrational fear. Millions of people have been regretting the union and British nationalism for many years. What do you have to say about that?
  19. Except that it's almost certainly going to be freezin' and/or pourin/ every Friday and Saturday for the next 4 months or so!
  20. Inch-perfect. And Dools took it well. Looking forward to seeing all the goals on video.
  21. This (our away points tally must start to get better soon, surely to God). and this (and that was without Willie-K playing!).
