Japan did not beat the USA. The result of the match will be recorded as a draw. Yes, Japan won the cup after the penalty shoot-out, but officially they still haven't ever beaten the USA.

I wonder if that isn't a potential source of income for the club. I'm happy for it to be a freebie for genuine charity cases, but would some folk pay money to join in a Thistle training session? Good way to get fit (or less unfit), maybe kick the odd ball with the squad. How much would that be worth?

Unfortunately, the abandoned main stand, the bing, and an virtually empty north stand don't help when it comes to giving the neutral or simply curious visitor any sense of an exciting, vibrant atmosphere. So unless the football (by Thistle, not the opponents) is really attractive, then they are unlikely to return.

I agree. It's a nonsensical idea to allow two clubs to play their reserve teams in the SFL. Why just those two clubs? Why not Thistle vs. Hibs Reserves, for example. How exciting a prospect would that be!

I still smile when thinking of a young lad at Firhill who, on learning that our next pre-season friendly was against Gala Fairydean, asked his father which country they came from.

Just for accuracy, most of those in the north and the main stands were probably far from healthy.

It's a good joke, though. I can't figure out exactly why it's funny, but it is.

Good to see that the club started to fumigate the north stand even before the match started.

I'm serious about the idea of matches only every fortnight, meaning that teams only play each other twice a season. It would also allow players to recover from injury, and teams could play in the European matches or friendlies all they wanted. How to deal with the 50% reduction in income? Easy, double the price of admission. It works out the same, and each game would be more meaningful, more of an event, as they were all less frequent.
