Agreed, but I think that if there's a fairly low crowd it'll be due to the timing. A lot of people away on holiday then. If I was here I'd definitely have gone along.

I was in Japan when The Cove was released there. Many cinemas that planned to screen it received seriously threatening messages, and so most of them were too terrified by the orchestrated campaign of protests to show it.

No it's not, it's done simply to protect Japanese tastes for particular types of sea food. And you surely don't believe scientific research that is funded by the Japanese government on behalf of the whaling industry. Although whales slaughtered and eaten by Japan are supposedly killed for "scientific research", the number that now gets killed is even greater than it was before. Another thing, some schoolchildren get fed whale whether they like it or not; this is nothing but a method of getting them used to the idea of eating whale meat. There is no morally justifiable reason for killing and or eating whales.

Rubbish. Nothing racist about it at all. People who are against slaughtering and eating whales don't care who does it; it's wrong. Japanese people do not need to eat whales. The insistence of the Japanese government to continue to support it could also be seen as racist, as Japanese refusing to comply with the majority view of other countries. And why do they refuse to conform? "Because we are Japanese, and we can do what we like."

Before anybody starts, there's no knead to take this thread to a dark place.
