Members Willjag
Interesting quote at the end of the piece from Paton about Hodge.... "It is unfortunate he is injured but hopefully he gets a new deal as well." Perhaps Killie haven't offered him a pre-contract as some thought a few weeks ago? MerryHell
While I congratulate the board for plugging the financial hole that they identified, I really do think that they could have done more to raise money this year. We might even have been able to keep Boyle. I know he's not away yet, and i'd love him to stay, but can't see it happening. Why did they suddenly stop looking for cash as soon as this years shortfall was met, without trying to build up a fund for next year? Stuff that was suggested that could have raised money has been shifted to next season. I think in particular of the comedy night that the business club (or whatever they are called) touted. I thought that was a great idea, and one that i'm sure we could have all got workmates etc. to attend and make successful. It could even have been repeated monthly or bi-monthly, but we just stopped and it has been pencilled in for early next season. We have some good players at the club that could be doing a good job for Thistle for years to come if the club would just show a bit of initiative. The guys that are organising the fun day are to be congratuated, not just for their idea and planning, but also for organising the event at a time that will make a positive impact on next seasons budget. Hopefully there will be a good turnout of fans at the remaining home games along with a good take up on the hospitality at these games (apart from Tuesday night) as the more money that can be generated between now and the end of the season the better. The club launching the much talked about initiative would also help.
