... The scottish cup was purely for scottish born footballers... Just those eligable to play for scotland.

A great idea. It would tremendously increase interest in the old trophy. in ourcase we would be minus Balatoni and Ellot from yesterday's squad ( plus Daniels possibly) Interesting to look at the teamsheets of clubs presently in the SPL. Such a restriction would level the playing field greatly.

Didnt know Balatoni was English. There you go!! Oh! And happy birthday Conrad, 22 today. Celebrated with a goal as well.

I thought he was a Geordie but checking Wikipaedia I find he was born in Leeds. And:

 

"Balatoni moved to Edinburgh at a young age and grew up supporting Hearts before becoming a member of the youth team"

 

Which suggests that under the new rules he'd be eligible to play for Scotland. Maybe what I heard was he was from Gorgie and misunderstood. :hypocrite:

It would never work and would devalue the competition especially if every player Scottish or not could play in the league cup.

Winners who win the trophy playing just Scottish players can then get into Europe where they can then play any player of any nationality.

Sponsors wouldn't want to know either and doubt the tv companies would want it either.
